I have a 2001 honda accord v6, and today mine started knocking and it sounds like it's coming from behind the timing cover. What is it? And another thing, if I do this to my belt because I think its time for a timing belt change, if I do this same exact thing do I just take it off and put it back on and that's it? Like I'm so confused.
They are known for bad timing belt tensioner knocking
Thanks in this video i learned location of timing marks and also the mount bracket actually does need to come off.
Cool thanks!
Piss on me and beat me.
once you loosen the tensioner will the camshaft stay in time
Yes.
What if you got the notch to the oil pump on the mark but the cam on the left is good but the 1 is a little off to the left a not exactly on the back mark is the timing off ?
Did you figure it out @DRAG STRIP RABIES?
@@billkincer4256 yessir I got it thank you so much 🙏 I got a little better I did timing belt on my Acura Mdx as well so yeah lol
Is this engine non interference?
So once i leave it ready like this i can put new belt back and it will be good?
That should be right on place
@@GeneralMechanicGA thank you for replying i was litterally going to do the job right now and its my first time thank you for the great video
@@GeneralMechanicGA i also seen another video that once they put the new belt they spin it twice do you recommend that?
when i put the belt on this exact same car the left cam gear moves right a little bitis it normal? its my first honda car
Make sure that
It’s set back a little for the movement it has when being stretched
It will be moved forward some cause the belt needs to be stretched with tensioner
So yes it’s normal but that’s the reason to leave it a hair off backwards
@@GeneralMechanicGA thank you
Hey need any insight possible to save a customers car that turned into a nightmare for him, car was perfect but he somehow threw off the timing while trying to yank his timing cover off. Car wouldn’t start back up afterwards, the last person replaced the hydraulic tensioner and reset timing and got it to start back up but now it’s running but it’s soggy so I think the timings off for sure. Can the timing be readjusted without having to remove the hydraulic tensioner by any chance?
Not really
Will need to remove it so you can turn the belt
But if the tensioner is new can be reusable
The hydraulic tensioner that was installed doesn’t have a pull pin style set up on this particular part... would I be able to get the little bit of play I need to readjust the timing by loosening the middle 14mm tensioner?
What year is your engine?
2001 Honda Accord j30a2 v6
Well should be reusable
What happens if you dont put it to number 1 before taking off the old belt? Can you put on the new belt with the marks or do I just put it on the way I took it off?
Mmmm
The main purpose of new belt is to rectify time
So take it off anyway you want but put it back with the right marks
@@GeneralMechanicGA ok I put on the new belt with the marks lined up at 1. It started up the first time cranked it. But after killing it and trying again it wouldn't start
Mmmm
Something else going on
Ya thought so could it be electrical or maybe the starter?
timing is off
I'm having problem taking the steering pump and the big bolt to release the timing belt
You mean the crank pulley bolt?
If you don’t have an impact wrench you will struggle its gonna require for you to go to Oreilly auto parts and rent the Honda crank pulley holder to be able to break it loose, power steering pump should be not too hard
Two 12mm bolts hold it just remember to take belt off first
General Mechanic thanks for the tip. I'll stop by there today for the tools
My crank is rubbing the timing cover
I still am confused. I’m gonna have to watch it a few more times. I’m not good with cars and I really don’t wanna have to do the damn belt myself but I don’t have a choice I can’t afford to pay a shop
then reply with your email address if you are lost /or need assisting. fully understand that you can't afford to pay shop
Hello, I'm in the process of replacing my timing belt for my honda accord 2000 v6. What do you think about (Gates water pump brand). Because that is what i am putting on my car no could you please give me some idea. Thank you very much.
Well
That’s a very decent brand
I wouldn’t be worried about it!
Good luck
@@GeneralMechanicGA thank you very much sir.
Watching this made me feel dumb because I have no idea what you’re talking about lol.
Not too complicated
Good luck
