- I’ve been selectively breeding sunflowers for height for about 5 years. Each year, I take the seeds from the tallest one and plant those the next year. I hope to have a giant sunflower one day :)
This is an amazing story too bad not many people now about this hobby
First year in my remediated garden and my sunflowers just hit 7’, unbelievably satisfying and I’ll definitely select the tallest ones for next year like you say 🙏
This is my 3rd year. I have America Giant and Skyscrapers. 2019 I got a 10 footer. 2020 around 11 ft. This season I'm thinking 12 ft. Still too early to tell.
Thats what im trying to do....im gonna collect the seeds from my tallest sunflower and grow them next year and keep repeating that. Been a bad year for sunflowers in oregon though...
Good luck! :)
That's so cool! How tall did they grow this past summer?
This year, the tallest one is about 10-11' -- not as big this time :) Hope you're doing well!
@@Andrew_the_Arborist thats awesome! Ive been groing some plants lately. Mostly different varietoes of peppers. I just planted Roselle cuttings today, hopeing they take root
You just grow them for the look? You don’t sprinkle a little salt on them and go to town?
I do eat some, but most go to planting! :)
How do you selectively breed plants
