    "..Show you how to thread the foot..."! Jeez, 52 years of sewing and I've just learned something new. And I'm only 1.15 into the video. Thank you!

    Great instructions! Thread the foot is brilliant! I can't believe that people can put a thumbs down on such perfect instruction. What is wrong with people :)

    Two things I learned. The width of slot on bottom of foot and how to thread the foot. Loved the demo also

    Thankyou Shelly! I just bought foot #66, and have been struggling to do a rolled hem. Your video is a lifesaver! 👍

    This is an excellent tutorial. I already knew how to use Bernina roller feet after reading a book by Carol Ahles but I always found it difficult to finish a rolled seam. The trick with tweezers you showed here, is very helpful. Thank you! I also liked many other videos on your channel so I am subscribing.

    This video was great, thank you! Now to try it myself and pray that it works for me too! The first time I tried my rolled hem foot was on gauze fabric and it just wanted to eat it. I gave up and I haven't picked it up since that time, but am willing to try again after watching your clear video...thank you again!

    Oh yes! Now I don't have to go out and purchase the #62 foot for the straight stitch! One video said the #63 foot was for zigzag or other utility stitches only. You set matters straight!

      I own practically every Bernina foot known to man....except the rolled hem feet....because I could never get them to work on my previous machines. You are my game-changer! ....top of my list for my next dealer trip! Is it easy to work on thinner fabrics, eg dance material or prom dress materials?

    This was really helpful. I've been doing this the hard way. One suggestion I have for video production is to use the landscape mode for video. It's hard to watch videos done vertically. Just a suggestion.

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the suggestion. I will try again to come up with a way to have the video in landscape mode but the way I have everything set up I can't zoom in the way I need. I should "up my game" so to speak and learn more about cameras but so far I am focused on stitching and just glad my phone takes as good of a video as it does.

    Use the zig zag stitch plate for #63 if you move the needle out of center position or use a decorative stitch.

    Hi, Shelly, I hope it’s OK to ask if you have a rolled-hem foot suggestion for a very small hem on chiffon fabric or something of similar weight. There are so many versions of each Bernina foot number, and I never know what each of them is for. I just want to sew a small rolled hem on a scarf. Thank you, Shelly, for any help you can pass along. You explain everything so well! You’re the first place I visit when I have a question about my Bernina machine. Thank you!

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  4 года назад

      Great question. You have several options for chiffon. The #61 is a 2mm rolled hem foot that will make a straight, zigzag or decorative stitch up to 3mm wide. The #62 is a 2mm rolled hem that will only sew a straight stitch. Another choice that I make of the is the #10 foot. I am putting a link to my video on how to use the #10 for a narrow rolled hem of chiffon. ruclips.net/video/uQPr4fSBbQk/видео.html. Make samples first!

    Great tutorial, Shelly. What is your preferred way to do a corner with the #63 foot, i.e., if you are doing napkins with 4 corners using this foot? Thanks

  • @karenstenger8730
    @karenstenger8730 2 года назад

    Hi Shelly. I have followed any of your great videos. You make all these applications so much more doable with all your detailed tips. I have the 790+ and the Bernina 880. I have purchased bothe the #62 And the # 64 straight edge roller foot. Since you have demonstrated and chosen the #63 and make it work so nicely, is it your opinion that the 63 is easier to use. If so, is it because it is a bit shorter. Is it worth it for me to add this additional foot, or replace the others with the 63. I had thought that I’d not use the decorative stitches for a rolled hem, so choose the tiny 62, and the medium 64.I am struggling with both of these to get a finished edge that looks like yours.

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  2 года назад +1

      Thank for the question. You do not need the 63. They all work the same. You need 1/2 yard of ugly fabric that you can cut into strips and practice. Remeber when you look at the bottom if the foot you will see the finished hem size. You can do it.

  • @janewittman7414

    I have the #63 and had unsuccessfully tried to use it. I'll try again now that I've seen how to use it properly. How would I turn the corner for a napkin or scarf? Do you still pivot or use your second method for each corner?

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  3 года назад

      I do not try to pivot with the 63 foot. It is too small. I stitch the 4 sides in clockwise order so that I am starting with raw fabric except for the last side. On the last side I usually use the second method to start.

    How would you suggest this technique without a knee lift system? With one hand holding the “handle,” and the other on the fabric, I’m having trouble lowering my foot while keeping the fabric in the coil. 🙁

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  Год назад

      This is one technique that is really difficult without the free hand system.

    Does this foot come with the Bernini 335 ? Or do I need to buy one?

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  2 года назад

      This would not have come with your machine. It would be an extra foot that you would find at your BERNINA dealer.

    Thank you! I must order a foot! How wide does this one turn out? Is it about 1/8th of an inch? I need to know which foot to order, #66 or #63?

    • @SewShelly
      @SewShelly  3 года назад +2

      #63 is 3mm or approx 1/8 inch and #66 is 6mm or approx 1/4 inch. I found this information in the Big Book of Feet that you can get from your BERNINA dealer and is invaluable.
