- Bodycam footage shows Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt being taken to jail by Utah police on August 30, 2023. The duo was arrested and charged with multiple counts of child abuse, four of which they pleaded guilty to. Franke and Hildebrandt were arrested after the RUclips mom’s 12-year-old son escaped from the ConneXions coach’s home covered in wounds.

When the cops loosened the handcuffs I thought about Russell having cuts on his wrists and them putting hot stuff on his wounds😢. They were much more merciful to her than she and Jodi were to the children.

They waited 4 hours for the little girl to feel comfortable to get up and leave with them for medicine attention. The also got her food during that time which she ate.

I haven’t bought her act from day one (Note this was the first time I’ve heard about her, I saw re-uploads and I was horrified)
Ruby told the officers that she would not say a word without her lawyer present. Then proceeded to give them the silent treatment when they ask if she is ok, like she is teaching them a lesson. Imagine how she treated her children. So glad they both got 60 years in prison for their "truth".

I don’t think the parole board has decided the number of years she is going to spend in prison yet. Could be anywhere from 1-15 years for each count.
They got between 4 years and 15 years max! Ridiculously light sentence considering the crime(s) here.

They do need to make them comfortable and treat them with respect. Otherwise, the officers become more like Ruby and Jodi and less human.

@@littlemissaugie3966they are doing it so that her defence attorney cannot say she was hurt or not attended to in any way/neglected whilst in police custody. Do you really think they want to treat her that well? The better they treat her the less defence she has to claim psychiatric abuse or brutality. It's also used to get someone to talk. Friendly cop strategy was clearly the only way to deal with someone like her in such high limelight. They don't want her defence to be able to conjure up a claim that they did her any harm and that includes the handcuffs being loosened so that she can't complain and bring up an arm injury

The officers have to abide by every rule so that nothing is used against them in court to discredit them in anyway or for basis on appeal.

Ruby Franke comes across as arrogant and entitled. Jodi Hildebrandt complaining of a sore shoulder is laughable considering the torture she and their mother inflicted on those children.
Why is she being treated with such gentle dignity and concern when she did the exact opposite to her victims?!
No matter what a prisoner has done it’s not the police officers job to treat them any particular way. Justice is being served, she’s going to jail. If they did treat her poorly they’d be taking matters into their own hands and that’s not their job here.
It doesn't feel fair, but if they treat her harshly, she may not ever talk. Plus, the officers are just there to do their job. They're not there to judge, unfortunately.
The point of them isnt to be rough with suspects. They detain, they befriend, and the get information out of the suspects. That's the goal. We dont want suspects suing or getting off because a cop went rogue and harmed them or ruined a scene or evidence. We dont want her winning any cases of cruelty when she doesnt deserve our taxes. So unless she resist, their goal isnt to be physically mean.
Because if she's treated badly by police at all then her lawyers could claim their client was treated unfairly and it may taint the case against her.
Best way to get them to relax and talk. It works in a lot of cases.

This was the kindest, most gentle arrest I've ever seen. Though I've never been arrested, my multiple interactions with police officers in Utah were never this pleasant, and I didn't even break any laws.

I wrote in another thread, the officers were polite, respectful, professional. They were transported in a vehicle with cushy seats instead of the hard plastic seats in a police cruiser. They were treated better than most felons. They appropriately lawyered up right away. Nothing to see here, move along.

Thank heavens for the cop joking about soda. It was so awkwardly tense it was nice to have people start laughing. It kinda helped show Ruby how unimportant she is too… with them joking around and laughing while her life is practically ending.
