    I make these too, and those are beautiful. However, just a suggestion. When you do the drizzle pink, white or any color over the apples, try to use different parchment paper for each color. That's a lot of wasted chocolate. You can put them in a zip loc bag, melt and reuse it. I do it all the time.

    • @QueensUniqueDesigns
      @QueensUniqueDesigns  5 лет назад +33

      Yea I try not to waste any chocolate. In the beginning I did use to waste not knowing or should I say, not thinking, but the more you do it you learn. Thank you! I actually saved it though and reused it. I still today blend certain colors to make different shades and colors. But any suggestions or advice you have is definitely welcomed.

    I use coconut oil with them instead. I find that they dip easier and it makes them shinier. With the crisco added, once they sit, they start having a chalky, chewy, thick like texture. The coconut oil makes for a better taste and better texture.

    • @QueensUniqueDesigns
      @QueensUniqueDesigns  4 года назад

      Lighter Melts are usually more difficult therefore you will add more oil to get the melts to the consistency you want. Chocomaker brand does really well and they now have red and blue along with the white and chocolate or you can buy white and add candy color to it. I use both Wilton’s and Chocomaker melts. The more you use them the better you will get at getting them to the consistency you need.

    • @QueensUniqueDesigns
      @QueensUniqueDesigns  3 года назад

      That was the biggest struggle in the beginning for me and occasionally it can still happen. Make sure your chocolate is not too hot before dipping. Also depending on how thick your chocolate is, you may not need to shake off as much excess if it looks as though it’s about to happen. That honestly almost made me stop doing apples in the beginning but it takes work and more and more practice. But if it begins to look that way, sanding sugar and decorations are your best friend. Also the type of chocolate makes a difference.

      My bowl came with my candy warmer. It doesn’t have the handles anymore. Try heating it in 10 second intervals stirring everytime regardless if its melted or not. Once most of it has melted, you should be able to stir it really well until the rest melts. Add oil or shortening if needed to get the consistency you need.

      Btw, my apples were bone dry & the candy melts only seized on the apples as I pulled them out of the candy melts. I still used them, I just made it work...lbvs. They still turned out pretty after I was done fixing them up...lol.

      Make sure candy melts cool down but not to the point of solidifying. I don’t usually have my candy melts as thin as I may with other treats either. It takes practice to know what dipping techniques work best especially with apples. I struggle still sometimes with them.

      @Robert&Sheree Jones Right! Sometimes they will have you like, “what did I do wrong” but like you said, the right decor can sometimes cover the flaws.

      You can use coconut oil, vegetable oil, shortening, or they have pellets too that are like shortening chips you can mix in.

      Why coconut oil???? We samoans never use the oil to cook with. It really dont help any. I dont get why its a huge fad now. Massage. For body and hair thats it.not for eating

    Do you add the shortening after you melt the chocolate and then stir it in?

    • @QueensUniqueDesigns
      @QueensUniqueDesigns  5 лет назад +1

      Either way is fine. Sometimes I add a little shortening or oil before and if I need more after I add a little more until I get the consistency I want.

      Try 10-15 second increments in the microwave and stir well everytime even if it hasn’t melted. If you notice it’s not a liquid add more oil or shortening and stir well.

    How long do you cook the candy after you put the oil in.

    • @QueensUniqueDesigns
      @QueensUniqueDesigns  4 года назад

      There is no time limit on it. You can put oil in before putting in the microwave, during the melting process or after. Either way, put candy in the microwave in 10-15 sec increments. Add oil to get candy to the consistency you want.

    I tried this yesterday but my chocolate applied over the apples a bit clumpy. How do you know when the chocolate has fully melted properly? Do you know exactly how many times it has to be heated up for 15 seconds? I was really hoping to get beautiful apples like yours😭

    • @QueensUniqueDesigns
      @QueensUniqueDesigns  3 года назад +1

      You don’t have to keep heating if you see bits still in there. I microwave in 15 sec intervals until it is the consistency I want. Stirring between each interval even if it doesn’t look like it’s melting. Sometimes you can stir until it’s all melted and if it’s too thick, add oil to thin it out but chocolate has to cool before applying to the apple but not enough to set. If it begin setting put it back in the microwave for 10-15 seconds and stir well. It’s a process and takes trial and error because apples can be tricky sometimes, even for me at times. Keep trying, you’ll get there. Try dipping and let excess drip off without shaking, then scrape the bottom and see if that helps. Sometimes I try different methods depending on the chocolate I use too!
