Srixons feel like Butter. Really forgiving, easy to shape. Love my ZX7s. driver swing speed is 115-117, the TMs had a bunch of flyers but the Srixons were shorter, they were lot more consistent. Didn’t need my 7 iron flying 205. Distance isn’t everything with irons

Ive been watching your channel for a while now regarding players distance irons as I'm in the market. I just got back from a fitting, looking at 4 heads - cobra forged tec, mizuno 921 forged, ZX7, and T200. I found the cobras to look and feel like my old M4s, the mizuno was nice and fairly easy to hit, the T200s were not forgiving at all, and the ZX7s were unreal. I was averaging 100 mph swing speed with 7 iron, 31 yard height, and 6500 rpm, with a carry of about 175 yards with a fade. I'm about a 12 handicap and these will help my game and give me room to grow. Appreciate your content - it was helpful.

I've been gaming the ZX5's since Jan and they've been the best irons I've ever hit. Yes, I got longer distances with the P790s, but I got fliers too and was horribly inconsistent with them. ZX5's are soft, great feel and sound, and dispersion was tighter for me.

I just demo'd the P770, P790, ZX5 and ZX7 and the head weight felt slightly heavier with the Srixons. The reason the Taylor Mades go further is simple, they use a 4140 steel face vs the 1020 steel in the Srixons. 4140 steel is substantially harder and stronger than 1020, hence the softer feel with the Srixons.

I traded my p770s in for a combo zx5/zx7 set. The 770s/790s were difficult to gauge distance with when you caught a flush strike being the speed foam & hollow head enhance distance. 6:36 In defense of Srixon, it is the ZX4 hollow body that competes with the TM P790, not the ZX5. If you are looking for distance in a head that is not oversize then both the P790 and ZX4 provide that. I have hit both, and prefer the ZX4 because the P790 sounds pretty "clicky" to me. I have hit the ZX5 too (its natural competitor would be another cavity back like the Mizuno 921 Hot Metal Pro), and it feels better than either the P790 or ZX4. If you have the swing speed to get sufficient height and distance, then you don't really want to blast your 7 iron 200 yards, but you do want consistent distances and feedback.

I got the 770 and the ball speed is faster than my old pings…different sound too…I crush the 4 iron which normally was a weaker club for me

Great to hear! Those P770s are a great blend of a players look with explosiveness of a players-distance

I recently got fitted and tried both the P790 and ZX5 irons.
Whilst I agree the 790 is longer I found that the control and feel of the ZX5’s was more than enough to sway my decision. Distance was shorter but more consistent
I do remember hitting a few on the 790 which rocketed past where I expected them to be which is also a red flag for consistency - nothing worse than hitting one straight at the pin to find out it’s flown 15 yards past the green 😂

My useless observation. I prefer Drew and Thomas being in the simulator in the store instead. That store set up and presentation is so nice, which makes it much more enjoyable to watch. Just more used to it that way I guess.

Thanks for the feedback! For full disclosure, we like to get outside in the warmer months to film so that we are not taking a bay away from the store that could be used for a fitting. We'll be back in the store environment soon when the temperatures drop...

Although the P770 are great clubs, they do not provide nearly the feel of the ZX7. I'm fitted 1 degree strong which also minimizes the distance issue. Plus: they are MUCH cheaper!

I am going to buy one Srixon (ZX7) set of clubs as well as a set of TaylorMade P790's. If I'm playing poorly on any given day I will just switch clubs on the turn. 'Cuz clearly it is the equipment's fault.

I made the mistake of getting zx7 with a shallow swing… the heel relief is a hook machine , I’ve gone back to 620Mb now cause if the soles
Great feeling irons the Srixon But they just are hook machines if your not steep

You need a better fitter that will adjust your lie angle....lie angle is the critical factor for turf interaction, too upright and you pull it, too flat and you push it

I went to a fitting with Srixon irons in my sights.. 2 hours later I walked out with a smile on my face , an empty wallet and a 2 week anxious wait for my new Taylormade P-790's. They felt so good off the face and the dispersion circle was tighter compared to the Srixons.
