    I really appreciate the slower clubhead speed examples. This makes the video much more relatable for a ton of golfers. Loving the new content coming online. Thank you!

    ACE!!!! Nice! I found the zx4 mkii to have a lower ball flight with slower swing speeds starting around the 7 iron with even modus 105 in regular. I've bent 2 sets 1* weaker and didn't have to change shafts for them. The cg on those are really touchy IMO for ball flight.

    Wonderful test. The ZX5 Mii did it for me. Sadly a bit late in the season. I went through Ping i230 ( too hard for me as a beginner ), Cobra DarkSpeed ( the height just dropped soooo much and also addressing the ball was a horrible moment ). The ZX5 is just perfect. The address, the top line, the feel, the height... My buddy says I'm nuts for going through 3 sets in one season but I've played over 70 rounds just this year. And I won't game something that is just not for me.

    Great video! Was glad to watch the higher swing speed as I’m usually in the 93 mph with my 7 iron. I also play the Zx7 mk2. I debated between and the zx5 and zx7 as I was looking for the most “forgiving” club at my swing speed. I only picked the zx7 because my front to back dispersion was noticeably better while left to right remained about the same. I would catch the occasional flier with the zx5

    Great review. I’m a slower swing speed player with a low handicap and am in the market to replace my irons. This really helps understanding the differences. Considering blending a set. Thank you! It would be great to see similar reviews of other manufacturers like Titleist and mizuno. Ric

    I swing 7 iron around 93mph I went full zx5s the forgiveness in them is insane and they don’t look that big at all. I naturally hit the ball low so I liked having the help of hitting it higher when I needed.

  • @anthonyfarmer8387
    @anthonyfarmer8387 6 месяцев назад +1

    The roll out on the blade at 95mph was the furthest despite higher spin, i wouldn’t have expected that? It’s an academic question really since ZX5 looks more suited to me (though I am sticking with my JPX 921 Forged for now). I really like the dual speed testing.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's only because a lot of them would have been pitching short of the green, and therefore bouncing on and rolling out, if it lands of the green then the software will show it stopping a lot quicker, hence why I was talking more about just the carry number, roll out on software is always going to be questionable so I just stick to talking about carry

    Nice 1. I relate to the 75 swing speed....but guess nowhere near strike consistency! And really, that is my takeaway...most club performance will be similiar when strike is consistent. But, the extra 3-5 yards across 60-70 swings, prob have me lean to 5 if not 4.

    • @epgolfstudios

      Main thing with irons is always loft. I know there's lots of talk about tech in irons but loft will always be the biggest influencer. So only being 2* between the ZX5 and the Z Forged I would only expect to see around 5 yards of difference in carry

    Good job. Why does the Z-forged blade roll out so much with the 95mph swing? Seems odd to have more spin and still roll out 13 yards.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  2 месяца назад

      Thanks Bret. Wouldn't look at total tbh that's basically just where the ball landed. The software simulates a green so if it lands on the green it stops a lot quicker but if it even lands 1 foot in front of the green it bounds on and rolls out. So the total will be unfair / inaccurate

    I did a fitting in Aug 2023 and the ZX4 mkii and ZX5 mk ii were both in the mix of irons I tested. I wanted to leave with the ZX4s but with a 70-72 mph 7i speed, the fitter said he wouldn't put me in them because of the low ball flight (well under 70') and land angle being under 40*. I found the same thing here. ZX5 did the best for me that day out of all of the irons. It was amongst the longest for me and had the highest flight and best descent angle. Only iron that got consistently over 70' high for me. I ended up buying them but unfortunately their blade size on the course kinda scared me off and sold them right away which I regretted. I just needed more time to acclimate to the smaller size than what I am used to playing (came from Ping G425 irons) which I went back to. Now playing Callaway Smoke HL irons which launch even higher and go further than the ZX5's and have a little bit bigger head profile which I like

    Who swinging that slow would play 120gram shafts. Anyway to do this with shafts that are relevant to the swing speed? Thank you for the videos

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks Peter. Well shaft only really has an impact on timing, strike, consistency, things like that, so even if I were using a different shaft the results and numbers at the end would have still been basically identical

      @epgolfstudios  Месяц назад

      I'm not a massive fan of going into the stronger lofted irons in the longer irons purely as the launch conditions become worse and even though the marketing would lead you to believe the ZX5 is less forgiving than the ZX4 that just isn't the case. So get fitted into the set that suits you the best and stick with them all the way through the set 👍

    I don't how using a heavy, stiff steel shaft at 75mph is showing how a club will perform in the "real world." If you want to test at 75mph, use a light weight, preferably graphite, shaft in a regular or senior flex. You just might see better launch and spin.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  6 месяцев назад +4

      Shafts make a minute difference to launch and spin, in fact there's an older video on my channel where I test a very lightweight graphite shaft (50g) against a Modus 105 Stiff and a Dynamic Gold X100 and the graphite shaft launched the lowest and span the lowest out of all of them. So when it comes to shafts you can't assume anything. Best bet with shafts is play what feels the best to you and what you can strike the most consistently. Then the head is what generates the high majority of launch and spin. Possibly with weaker people a heavier shaft might slow them down a little which could influence peak height. But yeah generally speaking, they don't have a big impact on launch conditions.

    • @jayfangRSA
      @jayfangRSA 6 месяцев назад

      The shaft really only influences golfers timing. For some good golfers it makes practically no difference as they adjust to shaft feel. And those it does make a difference, then better use feel (timing) you are comfortable with at all speeds for consistency

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  3 месяца назад

      @@JT2u829 when you're talking just iron heads alone, not medling with swingweight, shafts, length, lie etc, the dispersion is 99% down to me, nothing to do with the iron heads
