  • We talk about the new 2023 Srixon Zx4, Zx5 andZx7 irons. Going over the specifications, performance and why using the proper length of a golf club can create more distance. Using a flightscope we see the differences in the distances from the differences in the length of the golf club.

    I play Apex cf19’s. My son was fitted with the Zx5’s last year and I couldn’t believe how good of a club that was. I just moved from my long time apex clubs into a MK2 Zx5 / Zx4 combo set with SMACWRAP recoils and am having so much fun on the course. Great work Srixon! BTW love the content and thank you for the honest reviews.

    Hi, great video as usual. I am a 4 handicap and play the zx5 2021 model. I am a straight ball hitter mostly. I recently hit the 2023 zx4 mkll irons. Loved everything about them from the new looks to feel and performance. The offset difference is minimal from the zx4 to the zx5. I personally like lightweight stiff shafts vs regular heavier shafts. I feel the lightweight stiff keeps my dispersion tighter. That is just me. I believe when the time comes, I will be going combo zx4 and zx5 even though I could play zx5 and zx7. No question here. I just wanted to say Thanks again for another good video and explain my thoughts on these clubs. I will be sticking with Srixon.

    I have found the same. I have been gaming the std length pxg gen 5 p irons which I have loved especially feelwise but recently switched to the p770 2023 but cut half an inch and what a difference. While the shafts were different too - previously project c cypher with the pxg (nice shaft) and now the ust nanocore black (great shaft) - the difference is telling. Even though the p770 is two degrees weaker per club like for like eg take the 7 iron I get the same distances (maybe even slightly more with the p770 but certainly more precision and accuracy though feel not quite as good as the pxg). Loft (weaker) in this case is my friend but shorter clubs too!! Found the same by the way with my driver and hybrids all cut by .5 to 1” - wow what a difference!!

    Great video Jim. Whenever I fit someone for clubs, I have them hit different length clubs using decals to find out which length has the best center clubface strikes. Really enjoy your channel.

    Fully in agreement about the dynamic fitting being vital. There are so many unique differences in the human form that a one size fits all approach is complete rubbish.
    Also, if you have some time free ;) , I would really like to know the answer to why club lofts are not standardized.
    Many thanks !

    Hey Jim.
    I think you made a small mistake at the very end of the video. You said if you’re a beginner or someone looking for distance take a look at the 5. I think you meant take a look at the 4. Am I correct ?

    Just was fitted for zx5. The only way I could center bottom of club on lie board was one inch longer and 3 degrees up. My right arm is 5 inches shorter than my left due to an accident. Can’t straighten it. How important is bottoming the club flat. Also comb by getting ax 4 in 5 and 6 iron. What are your thoughts? Watch you a lot and would love to hear from you. Thanks.

    These irons look terrific. I think I'm ready to move on from my clunky G710 Ping ironst something a little cleaner and thinner. I'm around a 17 handicap so I'm on the fence so I know I'd fall within the ZX4 and Zx5 lines but not sure if it would make sense to get fit for one of them or create some kind of combo set

      @@bogey_master were you not a fan of the zx4s?

    • @bogey_master
      @bogey_master Год назад

      @@ariasfit I was not. I have a higher swing speed and the zx4’s like all the other hollow body irons were just too fast/hot. I already launch the ball very high, and those made it incredibly higher. I’m not a fan of that ball fight and the long carry numbers I was getting out of them. A combo set of zx4’s in the long irons, and zx5’s after wouldn’t be a bad idea for the right person.

      You would need wrist to floor measurement as well to go off the Ping chart to start. Most likely standard but depends on your swing and arm length.

    So you used a club that was a 1/2" longer and choked down on it.
    Say regular length is D2... now it's D5.
    What effect did the extra swingweight play?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  Год назад

      with that idea of thinking when I choked down the swing weight changed too. secondly most golfers,including me, will not notice a practical change of 2 sw pts. the change was not noticeable to me

    Would you recommend bending the ZX5 weaker ? I want the added forgiveness of the ZX5, but they are just a bit to strong loftet for my taste
    How would the ZX5 behave, if i got them bent 2 degrees weaker

      yes but keep in mind making the club weaker will increase the bounce by the same amount, if you thin shots i would not recommend it

    Longer distance is a cheating game in the golf industry by the OEM. It is high time golfers realize this and get more practical.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  Год назад +2

      and all of them do it too. because they have found that distance sells. amateurs that hit the links once a week with no practice want to hit like the pros on tv. This delivers part of that
