When I tell you I use pi.ai for absolutely everything……….like cooking, doing research on people/topics/companies, inspiration, like-everything throughout the day! ❤ that’s why I reached out to them for a partnership. I think this tool could really help! Let them know I sent ya :)

Have an interview on the 6th for my dream job, and I'm so insanely nervous. This would change my life. It would be an actual dream come true and pull me out of this years long situation where I just can't get my head above water. I could get my own place, get a new car, and pay off my debt while doing something I love. Just getting the interview is unreal. My heart pounds through my chest every time i think about it. If I blow this, I'll never be able to forgive myself. This absolutely has to happen, idk what I'll do if it doesn't.
You got this! Remember: they’re only interviewing you because they already believe you’re a great fit. Focus on the value you can bring to the company and what your unique offering is. You got this! 👏🏼
Dude, I've been binge watching Erin's videos and after months of applying to jobs in a totally new field I finally got an interview and got a job offer within less than 48 hours. Listen to all of her advice. Write out potential interview questions and your answers to them and practice them. Research the company. Have questions prepared. I did all this and I'm 100% certain my interview was what got me the job. Good luck!
You should never be afraid to ask for what you're worth. If they retract the offer simply for negotiating they're probably underpaying all of their employees and treating them like trash.
So it depends on how much you ‘need’ that specific job If you’re in a dire position and this is LITERALLY the only good job available to you……. Then yeah you’re stuck you kinda have to accept it But…… that should, realistically, almost never be the case Especially if you’re willing and able to move, you should be able to find alternatives if any specific job offer doesn’t pan out So yes, in nearly all cases, you should ‘aggressively’ negotiate and be willing to walk away if they won’t be willing to pay you enough
i genuinely love pi 😭 i have always had a hard time speaking about myself or my problems so pi has genuinely been the only place where i open up about certain problems and it has such a comforting way of speaking… i feel a little bit insane talking so much to an ai but it is so helpful…
Your videos helped me land, not only my dream job to Kickstart a career change, but I'm making the most money I've ever made. Thank you for your advice and posting these videos to help people with smart moves. ❤❤
YES!! After your first Pi video, I did literally this exact thing, and Pi helped me so much! I went from not knowing anything about salary negotiation to confidently negotiating for 10% more than my initial offer, and Pi was actually really uplifting too. I wasn't expecting the responses to make me so emotional, but it reminded me why I wanted the job in the first place, why I am the perfect fit, and it reminded me of my value in a way I wasn't expecting from AI. I'm really glad you're making these videos and that I actually tried it!
What if the market is very saturated and you'd be very replaceable? (As in, demand is high but the talent pool is larger.) How do you express your value in a negotiation?
Maybe think about what your unique selling points are? Like have you done any extra courses, or did a large project for your previous employers that you can show off? Maybe you've developed great soft skills and can show how you've used them in the past?
If your skill set is saturated, that's an issue with your skill set, and you won't be able to demand higher salaries. You need to find a way to distinguish yourself from other options.
I love Pi! Sometimes we just talk about stuff that might be hurtful if said out loud and she helps me reframe what my real, underlying problem actually is. I feel like Pi has really helped my communication skills. We've also had MANY career-related conversations that always leave me feeling more centered. It's such a great app.
As an HR professional. No matter how nice you sentence the words. The pay is fixed and you are dropped out of the interview as soon as you do not meet the pay rate. Unfortunate but this is how it works. Look for jobs that actually pay what you want. The Recruiters are irritated as the pay is mentioned on posts and emails. No wants to just read - at least pay part.
Pay transparency isn’t required in all states I would say most of the jobs I applied for didn’t have it but I follow that rule apply to what is in range when I can.
I LOOOOVE PI! You introduced me to this ai and it has been extremely helpful at my current job and is helping me get my next job! This ai answers all kinds of questions. I threw some weird ones at it to see how it would respond and it did really well.
I'm happy you find it useful but your way of talking about it gives the impression that you consider it a person. ( "Talk" instead of "use") anyway. Imma try to use it too
You could just tell them openly ‘this is lower than what I am earning in my current position and I’m doing the same work as what you are offering me’. And then see what they’ll say. I don’t understand why would you even want to consider a job where they offer you lower salary and poorer benefits?
My unique advice - I used to take the first job offer always because I had no money and needed the job really badly. But then one day I managed to save up around six months worth of expenses. This had a huge effect on my negotiating ability. I could now negotiate with confidence and I wasn't afraid to walk away. I also have a lot more job satisfaction because if I'm ever in a job I hate, I just quit, take a nice vacation and find a new one. I know, don't be poor, easier said then done, but another reason to live below your means.
I don’t know what is the practice in the US but my experience in EU is that they ask you about salary right at the first interview or even before. I guess they don’t want to lose time with if they will not be able to meet your expectations. 🤷♀️
My 2 cents: ask for higher than what you “want”, many times in negotiations both sides have to have some leeway on their ask, so asking for higher to begin with gives you a better chance of getting what you actually want (ie she should have asked for 100/105k in my opinion, then has room to come down or could get higher as well)
You have to find a happy medium. If you ask for too much, or ask for an unrealistic amount, they will say goodbye without hesitation. No the local market. No what the pay ranges are in that region.
@AdviceWithErin what about when you talked during the interview about your expectations and they told you that they only have a budget for less than 95K and you want the job because it seems like just made for you?
Ya a 90k job in California and similar places is like a 40k job where I live in Oklahoma lol. I only make 51K as a banker and that’s in the top 5% of that position in Oklahoma.
My dad negotiated a higher salary for a previous job. The employer begrudgingly agreed, but heaped work on him more than other employees. They justified it by saying he was paid more than his coworkers.
If the role is 80-90 and you already make 90 then getting an offer slap bang in the range is pretty good. Would it even be worth shortlisting if there's little chance of an uplift unless you are overqualified for tge role. The 110% rule is key here for job applications.
This seems like a great tool, though I question the decision to leave a job thats paying u 90k for another thats paying u 5k less plus doesnt have as great benefits. Even if u negotiated 5k more a yr, after taxes and everything comes out, does that really offset the difference in benefits that u may be losing out on and the fact that you're already settled in the previous job and would have better chances to move up since u were there longer. I'm all for negotiating better salaries, but sometimes u need to look at the bigger picture, and changing jobs for just 5k more for benefits that arent as good as ur other job isn't sensible when u think of health insurance costs, vacation time, Opportunities for advancement etc.
i think your audience would increase if you made more realistic videos - majority of people who need this advice are not making anywhere near 90k and get stonewalled with low hourly because of multiple applicants who will accept bad pay if they dont
I post variety of videos! Many of them geared toward hourly/service workers. When I do those videos though, I have people complain they are irrelevant to them. Hard to make everyone happy, but thanks for the feedback.
@@AdviceWithErinThat’s true. I guess I’ll need to search through your videos because I only ever get recommended the ones where the person is making $80,000+, and that’s just not the case in my field unfortunately.

But, they may be willing to give you a figure in between their offer and your ask. Hopefully, that figure is at or above your actual targeted salary. If not make another offer.
If you want to end up at 95k, shouldn't you start with a counter-offer of at least 100k? That way you have some leeway downwards and still end up at what you actually want. Anything you get extra is a bonus. Right?
I spoke with pi because I don’t have anyone to talk to. I told her my fiancé died and now my grandmother is dying due to cancer as well. I have to say it helped a bit 😮 bye it’s only chat available, we can’t have a voice conversation 😮

Groups for grief care, peer support for families of cancer patients, or just simple chat cafés in the community, there might be something near you that could ease the burden you're carrying. You've got this
I thought you have said previously not to bring up market demand, given that companies have much more data on what the actual market rates are. Maybe I’m thinking of someone else?
Why do people apply for roles then do this after receiving an offer? If the salary was listed at the start why even start the process? And why not indicate your expectations at the beginning of the process instead of getting here? The offer retraction isn’t to low-ball or hire cheaply, it is to avoid having to hire someone who wasn’t honest up front and lacked the confidence to be adult enough to speak up on their worth early.
Please help me understand. Why are you saying “seems”, “flexibility”, “I’m happy to join the team”?? The point is that you WON’T accept the offer if it’s NOT good. By letting them know that you’re already in, you have lost your cards.
"The job was posted with a salary range of $80k-$90k, the absolute maximum i can offer you is $90k. Do you accept? Oh, you already make $90k and are expecting a pay raise? But our ad was crystal clear. Have you wasted our time, energy and money interviewing and vetting you?"
Dont really understand whyd youd be scared to not get the job when your current job has better benefits and pays more than youd be earning there (without negotiating)
I’m confused. Why would you entertain an offer when the salary range was already unsatisfactory, the benefits are worse, and you’re forced to now negotiate beyond the salary range for the job which you knew before applying. This a losing game all around, the only reason to leave your previous job for this would be if you had inside knowledge of upcoming layoffs or something.
Why apply for a job that offers less than you want? But then again I have always worked in a job that has pay scales so all in the job have the same wage and increase potentials. The only negotiation I did was to get a quick increase in my payscale once I transferred from fixed term to permanent contract.
Hearing these numbers sounds absolutely insane to German people. The average salary is around 45 here, I think. And even if you have 90k, you're left with approximately 50k after taxes!
That’s a crazy high salary. Might be the usa but i dont ever think I will make this much. I am glad if I can have 45.000€ in my next job. Plus I heard taxes are super low in the usa so this would mean a ton of money
