Banging man!! That engine looks like a modernised/eco detuned version of the Vauxhall/Opel 2.0 16v turbo c20let. They were good engines from the early 90s. All the best mate.
Ya all the same smell i guess. All i know is the track record of em is awful here in the states. Turbo failures, headgasket failures, timing chain/tensioner failures, water pump, the list goes on. The fact that this had 220,000 miles on it is astonishing to me. It probably had an engine put it in it at one point I'm guessing.

Hell yeah, any time brother, cheers! Fuckin wicked about the boost loss on the 4.3L through all the pcv hoses😂😂😂😂 I never thought about it until you proved all the issues😅
I fix my own shit and I gotta ask. I understand all that was wrong with that car was a head gasket and that makes it not worth fixing it’s that crappy of an engine/chevy?? Was it a massive pile of rust underneath?
Yes. Rusted. Tires bald, ac compressor bad, washer motor bad, 230,000 miles. Not worth the effort of trying a junkyard engine that isn’t known to run many miles whene new. If the car was mint, it would be worth 1800$. With a junk engine it is worth scrap. Replacing the engine would l cost more than the value of the car. And to put head gaskets on would cost even more.
My buddy Eric nailed it. But yes, anything on this channel that gets a beatdown, chances are its just horribly rusted out under the vehicle. Where we live its called the salt belt. The amount of salt that gets put on the roads during the winter is absolutely insane. That black blazer that pushed the car out of the field with. All that white on it is salt spray from the roads.
@@ericharris893 Looks can really be deceiving. I guess with how bad and how quickly they rust people just beat on their cars there. We’re I’m from that thing is still basically brand new. Thanx man Cheers
@@600wheel yeah we get southern cars and the engines are beat. We take out a clean new looking engine and install crusty rusty low miles salty engines that run great lookin like shizzle. Or drive em over the scales because they can’t be inspected from rust running mint
my sister had a 2015 cruze. owned it for 3 months and developed a chirping noise. dealer diagnosed it as valve cover/ VCG so they replaced it to the tune of $300.while they were replacing that, a cooling system part EXPLODED on them and they replaced it. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER, THAT SAME PART EXPLODED, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO INSTANTLY OVERHEAT and now it needs a new engine
@@CompleteToiletGarage I'm going ok I guess has been a bit of a hard time lately so some fresh CTG has helped me out. Will catch you at ya next video. Cheers Bloke
Had one. '14 turbo rs model. Slow as dogshit. Lots of people had problems with theirs. I guess I got the one that was made correctly. Drove the wheels off that fucking thing. 3.5k miles a month for work for 5 years. Amazing mpg. But that's all I needed. The car only needed regular maintenance, and 1 coil pack. But I'm going to enjoy watching you guys destroy this thing.😂
These engines are notorious for blown head gaskets, random coolant leaks due to all of the cooling system components being made for shitty plastics, timing chain stretch and or guide failure, oil leaks EVERYWHERE. Always overheating. They’re junk but super simple engines
i have the 1.8l sonic. The Sonic is on the Gamma II platform, which is a development of a GM (Opel)/Fiat co-developed platform. Most of the work on the Gamma II platform was done by Opel. its not a daewoo like the Aveo was. i am not as familiar with the Cruze.
traction control wasnt on anymore, It was the engine/trans computer not letting me do reverse bombs. These newer cars have alot of protection built into the ecm.
These engines are trash but why in the world are you revving the snot out of it in freezing conditions? So dumb. Incredible what some people try to pass as "comedy" these days.
