@@demandsar1838 I'm Japanese and the Japanese word for comic is manga. We call The Walking Dead, Spider-Man, etc all mangas in Japanese. Same goes for anime, Spongebob, Simpsons, Shrek, etc are all anime. All forms of animation is anime and that's what I call them when I speak to my parents. This is because there is no word for "cartoon" in Japanese and anime comes from the word "animation". Most weebs oustide of Japan who can’t speak Japanese just think Japanese cartoons = anime
I just started a week ago with my first Manga. 20th Century Boys. I'm reading Volume 3 now and it's really amazing. Highly recommended to anyone who like Comics!
Dan iel so youre first manga is 20th century boys ? WOW, great coiche pal, but its gonna be hard to find a better manga other than the author other manga lol
What people dont realize is in japanese culture manga is the main form of entertainment. 99% of anime is adapted from manga. That is why the manga is sometimes "better" than the anime. Also, manga is way cheaper to make so more effort can be put in and it can be made more quickly than anime. This allows manga have no filler. An anime adapted from a manga is considered "bonus" that is why many anime adaptations that come from manga are shorter, have tons of filler so the animation stays far enough behind the manga and have can have a different plot towards the end. The manga is always considered cannon over the anime since its the source material. Basically, if you're tired of filler, tired of censoring (usually a manga has more blood and gore btw they censor the animation more so kids can watch) and tired of your favorite series going on hiatus out of the blue you need to start reading the manga.
Thanks for giving Manga some love. It definitely has some great characters, stories, and overall entertainment that people can enjoy. They've just got to be open to the medium and find the right series to them. Hopefully it becomes a proper mainstream platform just like how gaming has been, superheroes have definitely started becoming so, and anime/manga can make the proper step.
Usually the biggest concern I hear against reading manga is that it's a skill. Some people have trouble interpreting black and white images if there's too much going on. (Which even manga that aren't like that have a tendency to pack a lot of panels onto each page toward the end.) And then reading right-to-left is simple enough most of the time, but if the mangaka starts organizing and shaping their panels in unconventional ways, it can get a little difficult. And then lastly, trying to interpret movement in motionless panels tends to be the most difficult. I can't count how many times a chapter of manga was mostly a fight scene and then I hear someone say "I couldn't really tell what happened. Just who won and what they said in the fight." This video didn't really touch onto those concerns. But at the same time, there's not much to be said. You can't just be like "Oh you're having trouble reading manga? Well sucks for you, it's a good form of media and you should force yourself to enjoy it."
Great video! The series you mentioned are spectacular. Slam Dunk was phenomenal. I recommend Blade of the Immortal, and Lone Wolf and Cub. Pure greatness.
After recently playing elden ring I got into the 1996 berserk and loved it and want to know more, so really considering getting into the berserk manga.. I'm 33... Am I too old for it? Lol

Thank you for the appreciation of the Japanese Manga. And the only American comics I collect are Batman, Superman and Thor special edition comics but my main collection is manga and it's nice to see someone finally appreciating that too as much as the American comics.

I’m not a reader, that’s why I can’t get into manga even though I have realized from an objective point that manga is the OG of the anime industry. I can’t enjoy unanimated anime, my mind goes blank.
Tobias Baumgärtner nah it’s a bit different than comics,it’s art style and story style is often different and has different endings, comics are better than manga in weekly aspects and comics have a different art style and story progression,I love comics. Manga is more of a visual novel. Comic books have a style that manga are hugely different so it’s better not to compare them cuz comics are different.

It's weird how manga can be so original and out of the box and so generic and convesional at the same time
Dante Crottogini that's the beauty of it, u don't know what the next big thing will be.
I always try to get people in to manga, but most people don't give it a chance. I'm sure any comic fan would especially love Vinland Saga
Went to my local comic, and went to try and buy Vinland Saga... They didnt have volume 1
There is music in anime though
I was only reading comics, but then I read Vagabond. So much good manga Blade of the immortal, Berserk, and Vinland saga.
Just started reading blade of the immortal. Hopefully its great like the other three manga you've mentioned.
Read Akira. A must read.
Vinland Saga 👌
Just beginning Vagabond.. its artwork s love! ❤️🤩
Manga and comic is the same thing
The first manga I read was Death Note, and I absolutely loved it. I'm currently interested in reading Attack on Titan and Vagabond.

I find myself more excited about each volume of manga than I do marvel/dc. Image is the exception but still prefer the long story building of manga.

I was wondering the same. Did you find a trustworthy source that confirms/refutes it?
I'm a huge fan of Afro Samurai and Usagi Yojimbo. Afro's two amazing volumes, and Usagi's a really fun all ages story that's also pretty dark.
NFLDude56 usagi isnt really considered a manga tho
I’ve been weird about manga. I love it, but I wanna collect it. But then I wanna collect normal books. I’m conflicted
