As a lifetime Porsche fanboy driving a Jetta SportWagen. That is the most beautiful Porsche I've ever seen. Yes, the bar... it rises. I would be happy with an affordable beater Boxster.
Doesn’t matter if you can afford it. If you want this ST (or any other car like that “level”) you have to wait for 918 buyers who held theirs long enough to accept or reject the allocation. All these cars mostly go to 918 buyers and dealers who want the allocation to sell at auction or for the owner of the dealer. You having money and being an ex owner means zero.
Don't give up on the dream. I just bought my first Cayman for my 40th bday. Honestly, a 987 Boxster S/Cayman S is more than you can exploit on public roads without losing your license. Cars like the S/T won't be much fun outside of a race track, and at the same time, too rare and valuable to bring to the racetrack. As much as I love it, I don't think I'd want one, if that makes any sense.
@@heelntoe3982 ya I was supposed to have the money by my 50th birthday for a boxster... covid Fargen screwed that up...now 53 and back on track no pun intended. Ya agreed the S/T is just to much... but so is a dodge demon 🤞✌️
Nice job Zach. Porsche fanboy here but 911 prices have gotten absurd-this one included. I’ve not driven this car but I have driven several GT3s of different generations, many of which are $100k-$150k more than I paid for my 981 Spyder. And while all GT3s are great cars, I always ask myself when I hop out of the cockpit: “is the experience in this car worth double to triple the price of my Spyder?” And the answer has always been a resounding “NO”.
Great review, very well done! I especially enjoyed the part where Zack was explaining and justifying the price like there's the slightest chance of anyone buying one for the sticker price 😆
These days, every time my dealer reaches out about upgrading from my 991.2 Carrera T, it’s a hard pass because of the absurd ADM. I’ve been told 50-75k (depending on spec) over MSRP for a standard GT3. Absurd, right? Yet they sell every single allocation they get. I’m happy I got my T under MSRP, and now it’s starting to feel like it’ll be a long time before we see deals like that again! I can’t even imagine the markup on the S/T. I guess at least 100k, and they’re probably all already sold.
An ad worth commenting on... I love my aeropress. Been using it for the last 10 years. So good. I'm a fellow coffee snob and its no joke. Its great that you can get them anywhere now.
video and audio quality NEXT LEVEL! did you guys upgrade recently? feels crispy in 4k i love the color too, porsche has some of the best and wild colors, makes me want a pink car
I love porsche making stripped down driver's cars but we all know these are gunna sit in garages until they double/triple in value when they don't make gasoline cars anymore
The greatest $60k drivers car ever made! Too bad it cost $300,000 *sigh* Life long Porsche fan, still have two in the garage but Porsche has lost touch with their real fan base. NO ONE that actually wants this car to DRIVE IT, can (or will) pay that amount for it.
I really don’t understand this channel anymore. On one hand, I continue to support it by watching because this channel was the first channel that got me excited to open YT up and watch a car review, as it used to review normal car owner builds. On the other hand, now they only post one video ever 1-1,5 weeks, and the videos they’ve been posting have completely gone away from normal folk builds, and catered towards rich people. It’s like ever since Matt opened his rental garage, he forgot about those who got his channel to where it is today, and instead succumbed to the very rich instead. And Zach just seems to be the Guinea Pig on keeping this channel going.
Zach, your review is absolutely right on. As the owner of 991.2, GT three touring, your description of what this car is is this truly funny and hugely insightful. Easily the best review of this car, which I hopefully might be able to get, that I’ve
As a coffee fan: god an aeropress sponsor is badass, that's such a cool company to do business with, and I love that you don't even have some KPI for fans to hit, you simply tell us to be unmeasured wallmart customers. Got to love this sponsor.
What I find most odd is that whenever a new lightweight analog 911 comes out that it doesn’t significantly reduce the values of the previous ones. I guess it’s “rarity” but considering each is just an evolution of the previous one would think 911Rs and GT3 Tourings should lose a little value accordingly but both of those still sell well over MSRP
You hit spot on why these cars hold their value. It’s definitely the “rarity” factor and this is especially true for the 991R. Since this new S/T isn’t advertised as a “911R” by Porsche themselves (but we all know it is) some sellers or collectors may say Porsche only made a new 911R with the 991 generation. Also production numbers were much lower with the 911R which also reflects their prices. And some may just argue they prefer the 991 aesthetics to the 992. This always happens when a new facelift/generation releases. People including myself prefer the 997 to the 991, and many prefer the 991 to the 992.
Exclusively and rarity is an illusion. Today Ferrari and Porsche rather produce lots of different special editions but small quantities of each, rather than one model with a high production number. Their target audiences are gullible and happy to pay for derivatives of an existing car, no matter how small the differences are.
Every 911 has its purpose in the line up. The Carrera is the entry level, the Turbo is built for speed in a straight line, the GT3 is a fun track toy, the GT3 Touring is a comfortable version of the GT3, the GT3 RS is built purely for track numbers, the Safari is for off-roading, etc. The S/T fills the role of raw drivers car.
@@user-qh7rj9wj4p same here, I’ll never forget pulling into a Shell gas station and seeing a launch spec 911R sitting there. I spoke to the owner who was incredibly humble and respectful. He saw me pulling out and he followed behind and then follow with a power-slide. I’ll never forget how deafening that flat six was. Gave me literal goosebumps and I sat there laughing like a child lol
For those that don’t know, pretty much only 918 Spyder “VIP’s” will pay MSRP. The rest of us have to pay ADM (adjusted dealer markup). In my, let’s call it “research,” eight different dealers were asking for ~$250K up to $450K over sticker for their allocation.
Looks great, as for the price we all remember how much the R was flipped and the amount of money it was getting, Porsche learned that people were gonna pay more for that kind of car, don't think this one will be catching over half a million but the R had the "last of the manuals" thing attached to it, but i expect the ST to have overs too
I haven't watched a smoking tire vid in awhile, they've felt too scripted. I really really liked this one. Zach does awesome reviews, brings great energy, and I love his sense of humor. A+
My local dealer only received 2 allocations. They both went for 100k + over sticker. That’s over $400k. Sadly , Someone on bring a trailer will pay 200k over that for one. Yes - I agree with you - it’s insane
While the price is quite high to be on any "maybe one day attainable" for mere mortals, I can respect that Porsche is getting that money rather than resellers of the 911R of 2016.
It’s cool that this version comes with the BBS forged magnesium wheels. But you’re telling me that, adjusted for inflation, it’s $70k more than it’s previous iteration and it doesn’t come with an Inconel exhaust? Come on, man.
My biggest critique of the thing, given how perfectly they got the Porsche formula, is how few will ever get to experience the result. That said, it's hard to argue with the profile @14:45.
