If I die in a truck driving accident. I don’t think I’m going to care if the company I was working for gets fined 25k.
Had my wife in the truck with me for 4 years and was never asked once for the passenger authorization letter
I have been DOT’d from coast to coast and I can offer up a little advice on making this as smooth as possible whether there infractions on that inspection or not. This also applies to being overweight. First , Present yourself professionally. Don’t be dressed like a vagrant with flip flops. I once stood in a long slow moving line at a Dot credentials check and watched each driver get get berated for a variety of reasons, with some being handed off to a second officer for a driving award ( citation) . When I finally reached the counter. The DOT officer looked me up and down, glanced at my neatly packaged paper work and smiled and said, your free to go and actually smiled for the very first time in the time I was there. I have witnessed drivers getting angry and hollering and acting juvenile. Remember, these guys are professionals who are looking for red flags. If your entire menu for the past week can be read on your filthy wrinkled up t shirt and the rest of you looks no better, they figure your probably a slacker who is not operating responsibly and they’ve seen it all. If your going to do this job? Do it right, otherwise they will get deep in your pocket, and with enough violations make you a undesirable hire, meaning if you continue in this job, you will be making far less , drive crappy unreliable equipment possibly and work for a fly by night for low pay that’s unreliable. While we all do the same job, there are big differences in pay. Keep a clean MVR and clean CSA , Take good care of the equipment and be Reliable and Responsible. Remember, that good reputation will translate into miles and earnings. If you have a problem? Be an adult about it. Don’t be a crybaby. If you don’t think dispatchers make lists your naive. This at times will be a high stress job due to a million situations. Keep your cool, it gives you the greatest opportunity to exit that situation. This advice will help those who want to get it right, for others? It might as well be Greek. Be safe.
He chuckled, the DOT cop threw the bait out there and driver took it to asshurt city. The first I35 scale going south in Oklahoma pulls me in every friggin time, I asked why and he said "the camera takes a pic of your truck as you come up to the scale ramp and you always look excited to see that we are here". He chuckled, I said something funny but sarcastic and we both laughed. We've lost the ability to separate genuine rudeness from goodhearted banter.
Once a DOT officer pulled me over when I was bobtail, when he approached to me he said “hey, you lost your trailer, where is it?” I was instantly laughing, he did an inspection really quick didn’t even check my lights or any crazy shit, he only asked if everything was working I said yes, he took my license, came back with a clean inspection, lol I can take that, coolest officer ever
Port of entry in Wyoming is always pulling in everyone
I rarely say a word to DOT lol this man is brave
Unfortunately DOT isn't "really" about safety anymore. Giving a carrier a fine for an unauthorized rider is just making money for the state. An employee makes a bad choice and put an additional person (s) in the truck, that greatens the liability for the carrier. Ultimately the insurance is going after the carrier and so is the state so its not fun to be a DOT carrier.
I had my 1st overweight cabbage trailer last year in Bunnell Florida the AG/Weigh station didn't get me but the one that was 15 minutes away from Hollar Greene got me. Coolest dot officer though longest wait ever for a over weight ticket to be signed lol.
Why is it any of their business what the company wants?
I just met him today!!! ❤❤ He is the coolest ever!!!
I think wasn’t just the nice energy but also teaching to us out here to learn more about dot regulations . 👍🏼 great video short but educational as always , thanks @TheAsiaMaiShow for the time you take to put out these educational videos.🤛🏼

That’s the Same Guy that pulled me in just yesterday!
That was very interesting, I didn't know that. Thank you
Thanks!
What do I care if my company gets fined 25k...I'm already dead! JUST KIDDING!
DOT here in Ohio once pulled me over after following me through town until it was a less busy area.
Great interaction, no stress common customer service and informative. Too bad most official can't understand this.
