One of the wood chip gibs for one of the chairs acts like its breakable but isn't able to break further. If you manage to get it jammed in a moving brush entity, it spams the wood breaking sound which is super loud. I've got a very clearly titled video of this happening.
@@SimonClarkstone The battery is not being drained while driving the airboat with flashlight on, I believe. Hence the assumption that it is on the boat itself. Also the light moves independently of the camera
Here are two facts I have: 1. On the map "d2_coast_05" there is a truck with an explosive barrel under it. When exploded, the truck catches on fire with the release build fire effects rather than the updated fire effects. 2. If you go into the map "d1_canals_12", park your airboat on the downwards ramp right after the level transition, backtrack to d1_canals_11, and then go back to d1_canals 12, your airboat will disappear. (this bug works with any object, not just the airboat)
My only guess on the rotating pipe would be that there’s something very slightly eerie about having something moving imperceptibly slowly and causing you to gaslight yourself as to whether it’s always been in a particular place, especially on something like a loading screen.
The Jeep also has headlights coded in, but the lines that link it to impulse 100(the flashlight button) are commented out in the release build. Accompanying it is the comment: "No headlights on Superfly." Which means... something, I guess.
The headlight thing is interesting, I thought everybody knew about the airboat's headlight. With the buggy's headlight, I like to think that those are just retroreflective markers but the Charger's headlights are less excusable since the hazards work.
I suppose Valve thought having the flashlight projection texture for the headlights either wasn't convincing enough or decided it was best the player didn't need them

I thought this "Long Distance Grabbing" would be about 'ent_fire !picker use', which somehow is NOT a cheat and you can interact with stuff from far, far away with it, especially if you bind it to a button. Dont replace the E key tho, new bind does not let you drop things or grt into vehicles, but it lets you funnily freeze things in place if you pick something up and then press the bind again.
I knew about the crowbar tap thing with ammo crates but I knew something weird was going on when I would get ammo for existing, I never would have made the connection that it didn't care what kind of damage it took.
1:29 also, if you shoot multiple bolts at a ragdoll before its physics go to sleep you can achieve the same effect on regular walls, best place to see this is in Episode 1, the hallway that has turrets on the end of it and a zombie in the corner. Impale him on one wall then change directions and shoot the ragdoll again to attempt to impale it to the other wall and you'll get crazy effects.
The pipe is a free hanging soft plastic tube, it would be realistic for it to move in the wind. If you're doing 3d menu backgrounds, the whole point of them is to have things moving in them in an interesting way, esp if it adds to the atmosphere like wind effects. Since the pipe is just a rigid mesh, the fastest way to try to fake the gentle movement in the wind would be to set a rotation. This could(!) work if you don't see the entire pipe mesh and because it's curvy in shape it could appear to be swaying. The mapper probably experimented with the idea and made it rotate and tried different speeds, but it probably looked shitty so he abandoned & forgot about it.

I feel like the line "Wait a second, that's not gordon freeman" implies that in an alternate timeline where the player dies, they weren't actually playing as Gordon but an imposter, and it took them dying for the rebel to realise

heres a random thing i found, when you fire the SMG grenade and then reload a save on the frame it explodes where no particles are visible the explosion effectwill carry over to that load while not hurting you
it's neat that there are a variety of different citizen's reactions to gordon dying, which sounds so weird because there's one voice actor for each gender
My guess why the headlights on the Sand Rail don't work is probably because the airboat only had one headlamp while the car had two, and if I recall correctly older versions of the Source engine could only handle one dynamic light source at a time, meaning the Sand Rail and Dodge Charger could've been performance killers. Although an easy solution would be to make one dynamic light source on the car nose and the alpha texture that the light projects onto surfaces would be drawn to look like two light sources. (if you don't understand, the flashlight acts more like a projector that projects an image to create the realistic light distortion that in real life is caused by the flashlights reflective internal cone)

They used a sprite, not an actual fire, because fire cannot be attached to anything, but sprite can

IIRC, in the older versions of Source, both buggy and muscle car had working headlights.
