So good to see a different take on this even though I'm a big fan of the ol' magdust. Your video quality is outstanding Josh, looking forward to seeing what you've got in store for us this year!
I appreciate the feedback!!! This is the first time ive ever done video, so its a learning curve for sure. Its also all shot on a samsung galaxy phone🤣🤣🤣🤣
Did you brush the holds between attempts? You noted the fifth felt more 'slippery', there might be more coating on the holds the further into the testing you are. If you had short breaks in between, the holds might also warm up, further reducing the grip of the holds. Loved the video. Blind tests always throws a few oddballs at you.:) What works best for my skin pores is powerful chalk. Unicorn was my fav before I discovered Tokyo Powder and Magdust. Chunks are for tick marks. :P
Ill have to try those chalks! We wiped off our hands and brushed. We probably couldve washed our hands better--but we were using the water fountain so we didnt have to keep taking off our shoes to use the bathroom haha!
It seems like there's just a lot of preference or even placebo when it comes to chalk. Mammut chalk is the only one I have bought so far but I have tried primo and black diamond and couldn't tell much of a difference. Good video, I was honestly a little relieved that Rungne wasn't the clear winner 😅
I was sincerely hoping that it would be (even though I didnt know it was one of the contenders) because I made a recent video about how much I like it haha. How do you like Mammut chalk?
@@suckatslab I was only relieved because then I would be more compelled to buy it and it's expensive 😀 I quite like the mammut chalk, its chunkeh and satisfying to crunch and does it the trick 👍
Great video! Based on your comparison, I decided to give Primo Chalk a try, both in liquid and chalk ball. I do a lot of muscle-ups on rings, pull-ups, and rope climbs. This is the best chalk I've ever used!
Preference also matters, not all chalks behave the same on every skin. I so far used some noname from Decathlon (chalk ball), and liquid Decathlon chalk, Ocun liquid chalk, Metolius Super Chalk and White Gold from Black Diamond. And so far Metolius was the worst for me. Surprisingly the best was Decathlon liquid chalk, that thing is like glue.
The more comparisons I see the more I think I'll just stick to White Gold. Even when it doesn't get placed first everyone seem to love it. And obviously more importantly for me is that I have as well, so no real need to test new things. :P
Oh dope one following the other video I see soo mny people promoting the magnus chalk now that he is doing heavy "influencer" type marketing but it's just way too expensive for just chalk. Heck i've been using the bd white gold for a decade and its just so good that i see no reason to "upgrade" chalk which is shown to not be an upgrade..
Dude. Apparently white gold is the choice for us!!!! Magdust is working for a lot of people, but for me the white gold is the stuff. Rip my chances of being sponsored by Rungne hahahaha
@@suckatslab haha yeah it seems. I mean common people who pay 23$ for 200g of chalk because there is the name magnus on it have no clue. Im sure in a blind test it would switch ppl up
To be fair, it's pretty good chalk and I like it more than white gold. I did buy the big bundles at black friday and it came down to about $10 a pop which is a way more competitive pricing. I gave away a bunch of packs to people in the gym and a lot of them liked it more than white gold. It's still a preference thing, I definitely prefer wild country to magdust (oh and a 1kg bag of wild country costs as much as 200g magdust lol)
@@Kova4a First of all fine chalk is not that different chemically anyway. So its more a myth than anything else. In general if there are no drying agent or some shit in it its pretty similar. its more marketing than anything anyway the gymnast chalk is amazing as is and there are pro sending v16-v17 with white gold so why pay the premium for someone with magnus name on ?
@@telkmx Well, I wanted to try it out. And while chalk doesn't turn you into Spider-man, there is definitely difference in the way different brands coat your hands and how often you have to reapply it, which makes some of them more expensive in the end coz they don't stick and you waste 2-3 times the amount. On several occasions, I bought new chalk to test it out and left it at the gym for other people coz I hated it, so no money saved there.
This was so much fun! I've wondered about the differences with climbing chalk for a while. I'm happy to have done this test with you both!

Any difference between magdust and tokyo powder other than how fine the chalk is?

This dude talks and sounds like Honnold. If I closed my eyes and only listened, I would have thought it was Honnold conducting this test lmao.
If you close your eyes and pretend that Im bouldering v11, I could even climb like Honnold🤣🤣🤣

COOL vid i just got bam bam friction labs chalk
Looks like u might have to go back to ur old chalk.

I showed you my favorite chalk! What's yours and why?
I use frank endo gymnast chalk bc its like $2 a block and i have no complaints - it feels very dry and not squeaky which i like

Don't smell it. You will ruin the blind test when you get to Primo.
Yep. I did exactly that 😂
I smelled it and thought caleb was trolling me and put essential oils or smthn in it looool
Cmon that was the least scientific test ever
So so scientific 🧫🦠
@@suckatslab pls try again with proper brushing on holds and measure how much you can hang on sloppers with different chalk brands.
We consulted several scientists before conducting this science. The results suggest, with a scientific degree of certainty, that science was scienced.
