    Hey, I have a question if you could possibly help? At my gym there are a few climbs with no footholds to start with (I can easily smear to start it), but the next hold is a fair bit higher up and as soon as I try to pop myself up I instantly slip off and can't hold the smear. Any tips?

    That final position works better if you lower the “drop knee” leg and get your heel on the hold allowing your toe to dangle and curl below the hold. It makes it easier to “sit down” into. Can make is harder to drive up from that position … but in this situation you don’t need extra reach you need the stability.

    Bought Dragos LV for 25% off at $185 canadian (regular $245 canadian). That's around $130 USD ($170 USD regular price). What's going on down there for the climbing shoes to be so expensive? I'm a light weight climber so I switched from the instinct vs to dragos lv which allowed me to actually bend the shoe lol. I saw great improvements on delicate volume slab problems and smearing with little downside to edging small footchips.

    i just ordered these on a whim about a month or two ago, downslized 1.5 sizes same as you, ive never had a climbing shoe fit my foot as well as these, because of this they broke in only halfway into my first session and felt super comfy, i have very skinny feet so they fit extremely well, i really like how soft the rubber is, toe hook and heal hook feels super good, only downside i can say for me personally is the rubber does wear out quicker than any other shoe ive owned

    Fun fact: "V" stands for "vermin" which is the nickname of the guy who invented the grade system (John "Vermin"Sherman). Yeah, I also thought the "v" meant something more important. I kinda love that it's so stupid but so ubiquitous.

    What is the difference between a dynamic versus a static climb?

    • @suckatslab
      @suckatslab 3 дня назад

      They're both used in climbing to define a certain style. Dynamic climbing is generally seen a poppy, big lungey, jumpy, and ballistic. Static climbing is generally slower and more controlled.

    • @szakattkorts
      @szakattkorts День назад

      Dynamic moves use momentum and often require letting go, jumping, and catching the next hold. Static moves use no momentum and always keep two points of contact with the wall, usually three.

    Hey man, great vid as always ! Thank you for your review on this shoe, I’ve been wondering what your take on it would be ! I recently bought a pair of Evolv Phantom,(partly thanks to you haha) and I was having a hard time figuring out whether or not I’d made the right descision getting a stiffer shoe than what I previously owned. I started looking into models such as the scarpa drago, but also the Zenist Pro from Evolv (since they use the same rubber and about the same strap system as the Phantom, which I both absolutely love !) So I was wondering if you’ve ever had the chance to try them, and what your take on them was, or if there was any chance we could get a full review on them in the future ? Thank you for everything !

    • @suckatslab
      @suckatslab 5 дней назад

      Thanks for commenting! My number 1 recommendation is to get a shoe that fits. For me, it's the phantoms. Those are my go-to tried and true shoe that I've sent really hard stuff in. In my experience, those are the best shoes for me. To be frank, shoes can be psychosocial because if you trust your shoe, you are more apt to trust your feet which makes a HUGE difference. I've never tried the Zenith. My co-worker uses them and has had a positive experience so far. I'll see what I can do about reviewing them... in the meantime, I hope your phantoms do their job🫡

    Yeah, 220 bucks is way to much. One of my local store has like a 50% off sale on scarpa like twice a year and I buy a few pairs every time. I got my LVs for 90€. For me the dragos are pretty solid and definitely better than my ls theories and futura, but I still consider the Furia S the best Scarpas and often wonder why are the dragos more popular.

    I tried the whole scarpa / la sportiva collection and none of them fit my feet. The usual way too small toe box + too large heel combo. Plus prices are really getting ridiculous. Before covid, 150$ was already considered overpriced. Now that's their entry level .. I wear Saltic enigma shoes, a obscure czech brand that has top quality just as good as scarpa, fits my feet perfectly (and I mean perfectly!) all for the whooping price of 79$ ! They last about 6 months and I go climbing 2-4x/week so good durability.
