Thank you for introducing me to this great negotiation game! I’ve always loved Sheriff of Notingham, but never knew such a great, pure negotiation game existed! Love your content and looking forward to more of your group plays.
I've realized two things about Sully. 1. He is a master negotiator. 2. He is essentially Fancy Joey Tribbiani from Friends in both hilarity and popularity.
Laurie paying people to not talk or deal with Adam was such a teenager thing to do, but it was also the best thing I've seen on BGC! Laurie, is this how you negotiate in real life as well?
I hope that we get more Chinatown episodes, because this was the perfect level of beautiful, petty, and pure entertainment. I loved every minute of it and cannot think of a better way to spend an hour and a half
Both Sully and Brooke using the phrase "stone-cold bitch" to describe Brooke's concentration voice (even witch Sully making the little "that's what she tells me" joke is really funny. You can kinda tell they had that or a similar conversation before. "I'm not mad at you I was just thinking and it makes me sound really mean" lmao. Which is kinda relatable.
To be honest, I absolutely loved this: I was laughing so much at this, and especially at the little feud between Adam and Laurie that ended up coming back to bite Laurie in the backside. Honestly? Even though I have never - to my knowledge at least - played a negotiation game before, especially not Chinatown...this game really makes me want to play it.
Fun fact- Adam and Laurie's feud actually ended up hurting Adam more than Laurie. If Adam had been willing to make peace when Laurie made his offer, he would have gained 150K from the deal, and wouldn't have paid 120K to Sully just to screw over Laurie. That would have changed his final total to 1.05 million, giving him the win as long as ending the feud didn't significantly change the remaining deals of the game. Not that I'm complaining, mind you- Adam refusing the offer was hilarious, and I fully approve of choosing the bit over the win :D.
This might be the most fun in person episode of BGC yet. My roommate and I literally just ordered this game after watching. Master plan man Jon just laughed at the chaos of the bits, saltiness, and bad deals. And laughed his way right to the bank, he'll of a game.
Gotta say, I love Sully's comment about the game at 44:55 . It's astonishingly entertaining, intriguing and simple to play. It makes me want to get a copy of Chinatown!
This was legitimately the most exciting game I’ve seen so far on this channel! The perfect amount of pettiness and negotiation, Jon’s sweeping victory (I thought for SURE that Sully had it in the bag!)
Im from the Philippines and I have an alarm set for 2 AM every Tuesday now since this and Crititcal Role have become my absolute favorite parts of the week. Absolutely amazing, quality entertainment each and everytime. More power to you guys and gals!
I am absolutely loving the series. Have you ever considered doing something like a Board Game Club mini episode or maybe Board Game Club v.s. Where you only have 2 people playing smaller 1v1 games. There are so many great games ideal for 2 players and I think it’d be really cool to show those off (namely Unmatched as it’s on Adams top 10 list). To make it a long episode perhaps you could play multiple smaller games or maybe even get 8 people in and play tournament style? Regardless, love the show and can’t wait to see which games from future episodes I’ll be adding to my collection
watching Sully negotiate is like watching an episode of Pawn Stars. "you've got 2 spaces, 3 tiles, and a 4 set business to trade? best i can do is ten grand and a firm handshake."
Godzilla v Giant Sized Sully, make it happen! "Hallo Tokyo! What's this! You've been very naughty Mr Godzilla! I'm afraid I'm going to have to slap you silly! But first, tea!"
Spoilers. . . . . Congrats Jon! Well played, especially from your strong starting position. Just let the others' egos ruin themselves while you collect a tidy and modest profit. Well done!
This was an excellent game, makes me want to buy chinatown. But good Goddamn, When the revealed that the next game was ''Whitehall Mystery'' I could not stop smiling!~ This is gonna be awesome. Thanks for the early Christmas present NRB!
I always admire Jon's nails because they are always stunning. This was such an amazing episode of NRB and have been eagerly awaiting a playthrough of Whitehall Mystery so can't wait for it's ep next week. 😊
I love the way you guys explain how to play throughout the game as it keeps it flowing but stops it being overwhelming. Also great job on the editing to highlight what’s at stake and being discussed!
Once again, I stayed up past midnight to watch this. No regrets in the slightest. Thanks you you guys, the board game aisle at the store has become perilous for my wallet.
What has my life become.. Looking forward to tuesdays 19:00 so i can whatch other people play board games? Keep this stuff up guys. Lockdowns are a lot easier this way.
Y'all are doing a great job of keeping the anticipation up for each episode. Next weeks game is gonna by hype AF, and I can't wait to see who is going to be the hidden baddie
Humble continuity suggestion - rotate the ceiling mounted "board view" camera 180°. It's can be disorienting to watch the game from the opposite side of the table to Adam & John, but then when we see the birds eye view of the board, it is shown from Adam and John's perspective (which to the viewer is upside down)
Agreed. When we see the board, and Laurie for example, places a token, his hand comes from the top right of screen, which I naturally think is Sully's position
@@thomasw78 @thomasw78 Good point! But in a board game setting, there is always someone playing upside down & I personally find the inconsisency more jarring than the current alternative. But each his own 😀
This was a very fun playthrough of Chinatown. I discovered NRB over the holidays and have been catching up on all your videos since. You have a great mix of player personalities who add entertainment value beyond the games themselves. Plenty of laughs throughout. Excellent content and games coverage thus far in your brief history. Cheers to all the team and I look forward to all your new videos ahead. You have a new fan in the States!
Does everyone here remember that old series of RUclips videos? About games you could play on your table top? Hosted by that guy, Phil, I think he was called. Phil Pheaton? BGC reminds me SO much of it and I'm loving it!
Hoping you guys play whitehall soon it’s one of my favorite games and i found it from this channel❤️ Update: just reached the end of the video. Jesus christ. Waiting for next week 😊
Adam likes to think he’s the protagonist, while he is truly the villain and we are just watching his villain origin story. Laurie and Sully are definitely the protagonists.
I was so tense waiting to see if someone would notice Adam's two unmarked florists and I was so relieved when he finally realized. Of course it didn't make a difference but it's the principle of the thing.
Okay, the talk of years passing and then Sully's old man voice makes me really want to see a Legacy game series. Which game(s) would you pick, and who would play?
Laurie, Adam, Jon and Sullivan are such a great pairing. The only thing that could improve it is Blaire, Dom, Tilly, or literally any random person picked off the street at random.
I'm happy im able to watch these videos. Yet sad because I have no one in my life who would be willing to play any of these games. I can't even get people anyone I know to do anything without a controller. Even then it is usu a wrestling game or a racing game. Which I'm tired of at this time in my life.
I was worried when they went in person that Brooke wouldn't be able to play as much and I'm so glad to have been wrong. She's super funny but also takes the games just seriously enough to not make it too OTT.
Literally just watched the Whitehall Mystery Masterpiece video again the other day and thinking of buying it for christmas (If I can find the bloody thing online). Can't wait for next week!

3:50 Pile shuffling is actually *not* random. If you knew where the cards were before the pile shuffle, you still know where they are after the pile shuffle.
You know I feel like this game is missing something, like .....the money is just.. a scoring mechanic. Whoever has the most money at the end wins thing. Well what happens if you also need money to place a shop tile and start with a bit more money? Do you think that would be too much to manage or if that would add something?

I think I’d be safer with a game of mean girls. The way Laurie and Adam were playing. 😂
Really love this EP, that moment of Adam is priceless. Aslo, nice editing for us to understand whoe get what building, really appreciate that.
Alright... "Dim Sum? Dim None" killed me. 😂
There should be more Chinatown episodes in the future, it's perfect for BGC.
Specially with Adam and Laurie's feud continuing in the next episodes 😁

I know that it's just camera trickery but the fact that Sully looks about 3 times the size of John is hilarious

Brooke's been reading "The Lou Costello Guide to Paying Rent" with that first trade attempt with Laurie.
This was one of the all time best Board Game Clubs simply due to Jon talking shit in everyone’s ear during every negotiation
I'm dubbing this The Return of Don Blake, since that bit he committed to essentially turned Laurie into a gangster in the best way.
