    I really like the new tundra. Inside and out this truck is awesome! The things I like about it…. it sounds like the power plant is tried and trued with all the testing they have done. It sounds like it’s going to have an immense amount of reliability versus its competitors. I also like the tech they developed around a super nice interior. After listening to chief engineer Mike Sweers I am very much sold on the capability, the reliability, and the longevity that I think this truck will have. Regardless of all the changes, new engines and everything else... the most important thing is going to be price like Nathan mentioned near the end. If they mark this below Ford and Chevy, they are going to be successful with conquest sales. If they go above then their sales figures will mimic the last 10 years and at that point... what's the point of even having? Why spend all the time and money in R&D to bring out a truck that 80% of the truck buyers don't want. Price will determine the success.

      @es4326 2 года назад +4

      No offence, but I hope you are wrong. If the most important thing to you is price, there are plenty of domestic vehicles available. The reason I have been a die hard fan of toyota my entire life is because real life usability and reliability has always been the "most important thing" to toyota. It's the reason I still drive a 30 year old toyota with over 400,000km that never let me down. Obviously we all want low prices, but in the end you get what you pay for.

    • @MrBobbyBrown2006
      @MrBobbyBrown2006 2 года назад +1

      @@es4326 You miss the entire point of my comment. You're saying something literally everyone already knows. This isn't about owning a vehicle for 30 years, it's about conquest sales. Getting new customers and more market share is the only thing that's going to ensure the Tundra has a long production life. They ate terribly low sales for more than a decade as a placeholder, and now it's their time to shine. They must do it, and getting new customers means having reasonable prices.

No one in their right mind pays that sort of money for a light duty, non industrial, vehicle designed to haul and tow things, and that depreciates. Truck prices are just insane. I know gas isn’t 59 cents a gallon like it was in my youth, but 70, 80…100,000 prices are absurd. These amounts are MORTGAGE money. I guess my generation will have to die off before truck manufacturers can get EVERYONE to think those are normal prices for a truck.

Although I am still not sold on the longevity of these engines when towing heaving loads day in and day out . But even if we assume the engineers got it right and these engines will last ... where they can never compete with a v8 for real truck duty is while towing and using the engine to be your brakes going down mountain passes with a heavy load. The smaller v6 simply does not have the displacement for this. I have driven many many miles in F150’s with both the 5.0 v8 .. and both ecoboost v6’s. And even empty without a trailer ... I find the v6’s tend to want to run away in you while coming down long mountain grades . So for this reason alone .. I am not a fan of these smaller turbo engines .

      @@Amayi1 2JZ-GTE definitely comes to mind. That thing will reliably hold 1,000hp on stock internals. A well designed smaller engine can be durable. Might have to replace turbos here and there depending on how you drive it. The key is to always let it idle for a bit before turning the engine off to let the turbo cool down. That and regular oil changes with good oil are the key to turbo longevity.

    I love the truck. As soon as I can put a deposit down, I will do it. I am loving the new TRD Pro. If the msrp seems reasonable compared to other msrps of other truck companies, I think it's worth it. What will he tricky, is finding an honest dealership that won't be charging a crazy "adjusted market value". 🤔

    I’m driving my 2014 Ram EcoDiesel with around 22mpg and I’m all for Diesel, but if the hybrid has at least the same mpg it’s really worth thinking about it. Especially with Toyota’s reliability. I had so many issues with my Ram (EGR, air suspension, Bluetooth) that it told my dealer that I’m pretty much done with Ram and their quality.
    I do like the new design! Still need the numbers and prices up here in Canada to make a decision!!!

    I'm onboard & excited about the New Tundra platform.. 🤔The only thing that concerns me with this new generation of trucks is the fact that trucks are losing the front steel bumpers, to Facias! Plastic cladding. The rest of the truck is awesome. I know manufacturers are doing it for gas mileage. I just would want to be able to overland with the system, winch and all.

    I’m the first in line at my dealer with deposit down for a Pro. Really hope the price increase isn’t putting it in Tremor/Raptor territory. Leaning Tundra, but will heavily consider the F-150 offerings until we know all the Tundra specs.

    Also to add, With the battery pack below the 2nd row seats. I wonder if the reasoning to this, is due to ease of maintenance if/when needed, compared to the F150 with it being between the trans and engine.

    I've been diehard Toyota truck fan for 25+ years. I do like the new Tundra but my disappointment with Toyota is growing. In the fiercely competitive truck market Toyota has, at best, caught up to the competition. Toyota's fans have been waiting for an eternity for the redesigned Tundra. The" big reveal" included: NO EPA fuel ratings, NO diesel option, NO ordering configurator, NO pricing, a hybrid battery system consuming interior storage (wtf), and then news the flagship hybrid power train and PRO model are unavailable for ??? months. All of the marketing hype can't hide the lack of substance. So disappointing.
