Sweet video! There is a lot of confusion around the Uwharrie National FOREST - like the difference in a Forest vs Park. A National Forest is very different than a National Park. There is the 24/27 Trailhead roght off the highway... but the Woodrun Trailhead is located just down the gravel road from the 24/27 Trailhead. Most people just park near the Highway where you can access the Woodrun Bike Trail. But down that gravel road, you can stand in the center and see all three bike trail heads from one spot.
My favorite trails between the mountains and the coast of NC. The leaves don't look quite as bad as they were 3 weeks ago. Going back on New Year's Day
Thanks for this video! I've always done it as a loop from Wood Run parking lot to Wood Run Trail to Keyauwee to Supertree clockwise. I like your suggestion of an out and back but want to confirm the routing you took to do the ride shown on your video. Do you have this ride recorded on Strava etc? If not, did you do Wood Run Trail from parking lot up the Wood Run Road to right on Whitetail to right onto Supertree then up to Keyauwee or ?? Where did you turnaround on Keyauwee and head down it? Thanks in advance for route guidance
the trail called White Tail ...its not a sanctioned trail and its not marked because of it...there are maps with it on there tho....Supertree is a fun flowy trail...well...going clockwise it is...I always park at the hunt camp....cause if something happens to your bike its not a terrible walk...I've had bike problems before when I parked near the main road and it is a looong walk back to the car..parking at the hunt camp makes it centralized.
Thanks for the parking lot advice. That's a legit public service announcement. Can you comfortably ride a short travel 130/120 at this place, or do you need a bit more?
@@schenker1993 very different bike and purpose than the 160 haha. If I took this down pickle or Bennett, the yeti would look better. Definitely easier to ride on mellow terrain that’s for sure
It’s not an either/or. I agree riding in the rain or wet is terrible but that doesn’t justify trail destruction in other ways. It is like saying it’s ok to stab someone because shooting them is worse. Trail destruction is trail destruction and it’s still fun to ride without tearing the trail up. Still I appreciate the video as I have not ridden in that area.
@@tomordr my point is that this is a all weather trail system that never closes. If they’re okay with riding in a torrential downpour, I’m sure they’re fine with a few flicks. The whole purpose is to have fun, and they encourage just that. Also, we volunteer to help with trail maintenance and our local chapter watches most of my videos and not once have they said anything about it. And yes, they do correct what we do every now and again so if it was an issue, I would know about it. I appreciate you trying to look out for trails but I promise we’re not doing anything that’s not already allowed and or encouraged
@@CarolinaMTB Kitsuma is closer to my place in Stanley than Uwharrie, so I've always thought it was weird that it was considered a "CLT Area" trail. But, if you live out on that side of the loop, I guess I can see how it's accessible and worth it.

I would have liked to seen your line on the big Keyauwee climb? You ripped the downhills.
@@BillRobins-c7p straight up the middle! Not too difficult
That place has been in my bucket for ten years and I still haven't made it there. And only around four hours away
@@saddleweary2777 gotta try it. It’s pretty dang good!
I've been riding Supertree, Whitetail, and Keyauwee since before 2000. I no longer ride anywhere else.
I always combined Keyauwee and Supertree together to make a big loop. I've never ridden it as an out-and-back before.
Miss a lot of good DH riding it one way. Both directions work pretty dang good

Absolutely. The bike I’m riding here is a 120mm bike
@CarolinaMTB Thanks. You are a good sport. I saw that later in the video. Next time, I'll wait until the end to ask questions.

@CarolinaMTB that's cool. Thanks for the trail rankings! Been using them to ride more stuff in CLT.
