Now that it is on the neural net it will learn faster in winter driving. And passing it on to the other cars with the same driving experiences for winter.
Very subjective, but if I was in the driver seat during these conditions, I would definitely lower the max speed manually so FSD doesn't go too fast in the snow.
Great test! Could you experiment self parking's reaction to snow and slipping? Maybe you could draw a fake parking spot in the snow see if it will detect it, stuff like that
Sounds cool will try out auto park indeed. There is a part in this current video where it takes off on an icy lane and steering wheel self corrects to slipping that occurs. It's really impressive! 21:20
Wow. After this first five minutes I'm impressed. My car never went even 100 feet in this much snow last winter in Michigan. I could not use FSD at all if there was any snow or ice on the roads. I've been very much looking forward to testing it out this winter. Still waiting for our first snow though.
Fantastic video. Loved FSD during a test drive and purchased a Model Y yesterday. Thanks for giving me a guess as to how the vehicle might perform in the Winter snow.
Suggestion: use right scroll wheel to reduce maximum speed when driving on snow as well as chill mode and reduced maximum speed setting. Great video, thanks for recording.
Long time since I've seen Calgary in winter; less icy than I remember. FSD not slowing early for a light when on snow or ice or downslope, is an issue here in Colorado too.
In some weather conditions, you can expect ice to be there in the shadows... This has A LOT to learn about winter driving. It will eventually but that must have been scary.
@@TeslaColdEnvy So no worries my friend! They are, because If they're going to launch the Robo taxi next year, they had to have been testing it already in winter conditions, so we'll see what happens, but remember you're still driving, FSD supervised, so keep that in mind, as you're still responsible for what your car is doing on public streets/highways. Comphenda. Cheers 🥂
Thank you for making this FSD test video in snow! You helped me to decide about FSD where I live in north Idaho. I just ordered a Cybertruck, and I already decided against buying FSD because the CT comes with 3 months of free FSD. I think for now FSD in snowy weather is not good enough, so I will opt for the $100/month FSD by subscription in non-snowy months and pass during snowy months. Maybe in a few years FSD will be very good in snowy conditions. But not now!
I never use fsd when there is snow on the road. When you drive on snow or ice you dont just have to see the road, you have to feel it. I only trust my self in those conditions.
I totally get were you are coming from. But you start getting those sense of feeling when fsd drives for you as well and your confidence grows in a similar approach. But yes it's not as much as getting the confidence from yourself driving.
Gotta hand it to ya - nads of stone lol, u remind me of the original test pilots back in the day when ifr flight was being perfected - appreciate the efforts
Tldr: It still can't learn on the fly and use much reasoning so be careful af in the conditions anything other than sunshine. it's not modulating the speed/acceleration enough to manage the traction correctly. It should be smart to figure out based off weather conditions relative to the tire combination, how to drive
Might want to verify your account isnt compromised. I saw you liking the post and responding to a typical trading scam comment on your video titled "Tesla Full Self Driving Phantom Braking! FSD V12.5.6.3"
@@TeslaColdEnvy To be fair, it does become a bit difficult to guess when the road is completely covered in snow, and in case of any doubt it's probably safer not to try to drive as close to the edge as possible. I think FSD did acceptably well, considering the conditions! Softer acceleration would make sense though I believe the traction control would limit acceleration when it senses wheel slip? FSD should still decelerate earlier though, for sure.
Man, as someone who lives in a very snowy place and also drives like a grandma in his Model 3 when it's slippery out I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole video! I've seen enough cars slide through an intersection so there's no way I could trust FSD to handle it. Kudos to you for the courage, stay safe out there!

Great test, thank you.
FSD does surprisingly well with lane prediction.
Thanks for your comment. I love driving it in these conditions, can really put it through its toughest decision making scenarios 👌
Color me impressed. It did better than I expected.

It does surprisingly good specially with lead vehicles and trafficy situations
Fantastic video. Loved FSD during a test drive and purchased a Model Y yesterday.

Anytime and congrats on getting the worlds best vehicle!
@ it’s still being delivered - but you surely got a follow brother! Soon I’ll eventually truly be part of the community!
Appreciate it 🔥

They should have a snow mould where the acceleration is less strong on turns and the breaking is earlier
That would be amazing

I'm hoping tesla taps into my drives for data to improve winter fsd. I really think it's essential.

great video
Did you record this yesterday?
I pull up the snow warning with the date at the start of the video. I recorded this video on the 18th.
Hmm, what about reduce power mode or even valet mode?
Those are not sustainable modes I find.
Great footage! Where are you based? Canada?
Hi thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed my video. Yes I'm based in Canada, in the city of Calgary in Alberta province
as a European, im wondering what is that megalong car at 4:22 haha
nice video!
This is one of the many unsolvable issues w fsd to become 100% unsupervised. It is an amazing more Super Autopilotish feature..
Is the annoying beeping for FSD degraded warning gone?
that strike is pretty unreasonable, it's obviously a bug, you could even call the service line to report this issue
You brave 👏
You mean “You’re brave”
Yes, you are brave thanks for posting FSD in snowy roads
Thanks guys appreciate the comments I'm glad you folks like my videos! ❤️

Will do thanks
How does it handle hills in snow?
What tires?
Is this rwd or awd ?
I wonder what the car would do if it started to slide. Does it correct?
There is a part we're it starts to slide and the steering wheels corrects its self. Check out the chapters 😊
When I’ve used full self driving in snow, the car has done a fantastic job with correcting itself
Can you hear me shouting... "Stop touching the wheel so much!"? 😮
😅
Man i wish i could try that out in Europe... but seems like the next regulatory change for self driving will be 2028 😢
Damn it! I feel bad for you guys
Those weren't really slippery roads!
18:00 lol, just as you're complaining about FSD not driving in the right lane... then realise the human in front of you also isn't 😂
I know it's hilarious 😅 I think we have alot of first timers from out of province this year

You complain about going slow and you have it it Chill. Do you what an accident. It is doing its job. It drives safely like I do. Good job FSD.
At some points yes. I think I'm also advocating for those who drive in these conditions on a regular basis. You are right I should not complain alot 😅
Human dirvers who never drove in snow before would also struggle, not just FSD lol
I disagree
This is exactly the way I thought it would go. This is and always will be a gimmick for the californians.
Ignorant comment from someone who doesnt own nor use FSD.
@@Buggabones Did you watch the video?
This is painful to watch, please take the wheel - you still are the driver! All those other drivers on the road are not your test lab.

Thanks Mike I use winter tires! I understand though it's hard to build the confidence through watching it on a screen 😊
