This is exactly what my trim looks like. I know I’m saying this again but I’m stoked about these videos. I’ve had my 91 Prelude for 5 or six years now. Went through a ruff patch with a blown motor then shortly after that repair my trans kicked the bucket. It’s motivating to see someone else actually see value in the car.
I'm glad the video helps. Make sure you check out the Prelude Playlist. I think I did 50 videos on this car addressing everything you can imagine. The car has come a long way.
Dude! I was wondering if I needed to replace mine, since I had identical damage on my trim pieces. You’ve saved me!! If this was reddit I would gild this many times over
Every Honda I see needs this help. They spend $3k on a K-swap and $2k on Work wheels and window trim looks like trash. 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad it helped. Mine is still holding up and looks great.
he bud had to check back... I painted a small sample area of the chrome trim on the ef sedan I got in december and... not so good. Im going to canadian tire for some "Trimbrite Blackout Tape" which should be close to what your using. I'll trim any excess out with a razor knife... we shall see!
Robert Reid Hey Robert, the vinyl wrap/tape is the way to go. If you use trim paint, like I did half of the team windows, you have to make sure you protect the finish with a good sealant/wax like I mentioned in the video.
Hey! So I just started this today and also cut the window sweeper part off...how do I go about replacing that part or even repairing? Thanks in advance 👍👍
If you live in a place where the roads get salted, you need to protect your paint more than ever! A sealant will last much longer than a wax. What wax are you using?
The last 3 winters that I lived here the city used "sand" and not salt. Broken and chipped windshields all the time... This is the first year they are spraying a salt liquid on the roads... I peel the the fenders and bumpers off my hatches once a year and clean, paint, and truck bed liner anything that needs it. Rust free anything - let alone a honda is as rare as hen teeth here. My ra1 (1st gen odyessey) is rusted, but both hatches are clean (ep3 and eg) and rust free... I use turtle wax "super hard shell paste" for what its worth. I hand wash and wax spring and fall... Otherwise I have access to a wash bay at work and mostly drive the van because its super cheap on fuel (f22), has a double wishbone suspension, and just wont die... all original 430,000 km. I bought it for $900 2.5 years ago. I did breaks when I bought it and otherwise oil changes and a fuel pump. I'm going to look into sealant. I'm working on purchasing a 1988 ef sedan with 82,000 km and will definitely be keeping it pristine. Btw my parents live in Orange TX (next to beaumont) and also weathered Irma.
Do you have any advice for replacing the rubber seal around the rear windshield on one of these? Mine's dried up and separating, letting water in. I can't seem to find any window seals online for Preludes. Thanks
It’s nice to see someone else restoring their gen 3!

Awesome videos. I just bought my self a 91 Prelude SI white. Please keep posting more videos. They are extremely helpful.
Eddie Macias 👍Thanks for watching!

Great new video. My window trim is terrible so may be doing this soon. Also I live in FL, that sun will eat a car dry. 98_prelude_2.0si

The short answer is you can't fix it. Search on ebay and search junkyards for another Lude. Good luck.
Great video
I never heard of sealant. I wax twice a year... but I also now live in northern Canada. 7 months of winter and three months of summer in a good year.

Robert Reid Sounds good. I plan on doing some detailing videos soon. Stay tuned.
6:50 you'll thank me later

No, sorry. Find some on ebay or junkyard. Good luck.
I have the SAME EXACT trim look, with that ugly chrome coming through. Why not just paint that as well?
You can, but the vinyl will look better and last longer.
Chip it off, plastidip it.
