Ok I think you've got the cinematic-informative balance just right with this one. Awesome work.
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
It's always a good day when GxAce posts another cinematic masterpiece
Thanks my friend!
I saw on your Instagram that you're gonna be uploading more to RUclips? You have no idea how happy that makes me. Best foto/video channel on RUclips ever.
Hahah! I'm glad its good news to you! I'm excited to try and actually focus on the channel for once.
Agreed🙌
I love your videos! I just found this channel a few hours ago and I need to watch more! The cinematography is impressive, very inspiring! Thanks for sharing.
Yesssss! You've mentioned and compared Contax G quite a few times already, so when I was rewatching recently I was definitely wondering when you would cover manual conversions! 🥳
I'm glad you can actually buy one of these now!
I'm at my studio and just had all 8 of my friends watch this because of how beautiful it is. Stunning work man!
Hahah That's awesome! I hope you all liked it!
Everytime you release a video it's the highlight of my day. You can be proud of your skills :)
Happy to hear that! That's amazing :) Thanks so much.
Amazing! Didn’t know this conversion kit existed and now they DO have a 45mm kit! Going to try both!
I really dig the lighting setup during the talking heads section, cant believe the xt3 was capable of that kind of lighting ratio
It’s got a decent amount of dynamic range! I still use it to shoot every thing haha
I actually bought one of the extremely limited AF e-mount adapters for Contax G lens... the speed of the AF is not fast at all but for stationary scenes/subjects it works perfect. The Contax G lens really are Leica calibre glass at a fraction of the price!
This is stunning luxury and treat on Friday nights.
I dropped everything to watch this cinematic sets of video.
What did you think? :)
@@GxAce breathtaking as always.
Man. The visuals on this one are just on another level
Thanks my friend!
Don’t ever change your production style. EVER 🔥🔥🔥
I only plan to make it more intense hahah
What's your favorite Contax G lens?
The Planar 45/2 was an interesting perspective and I loved using it everyday until I sold that system. I want that again on my M body so I'll be looking into the Funleader conversion kit!
The Planar 45/2. And this option is great for the 35mm but $600 just for the new housing… I don't know. It's more expensive than the lens itself. Your video, great as always.
One that I could afford 😉
Really looking forward to that 45mm!
The 21mm with it's external viewfinder!
Look into Hawks Factory in Taiwan. They make an adapter similar to funleader, and have one for the 21mm Contax G.
I don't own a G adapter, but do have a Hawks adapted Nikkor 50mm 1.4 millennium to leica M, and its a nicely made product.
Love the look, great job on the video
Thank you so much!!
Honestly I am not a camera person, yet for some reason I still eagerly watch yout videos. Please keeping doing what you do!
Hahaha, thats awesome. How did you find out about them?
@@GxAce from one of Patrick Tomaso's videos. He gave your video a shout out sometime ago and I decided to check out your channel, and subscribed shortly after haha.
Yet another great video and waiting for more.
More to come! Thanks!
How did I miss this video great video very informative
Ok, I’m convinced you live on an actual space station. Another amazing video! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
This is entirely plausible. Thanks for watching!
Thanks again for another video with perfect picture and sound design) GxAce, can I ask you what lens do you use for that closeup product shots? Thanks
Thanks for watching! In this video I used three lenses: The Sirui 50mm Anamorphic with some diopters and a wide angle converter, the Nikon 55mm F2.8 Micro Nikkor, and the TTArtisans 17mm 1.4
Hey Gx! Love your work, but failed to find the track from the cinematic garbage part, could you please share the link/track ID? thank you!
Could you do a video on your Nikon Macro-NIKKOR 55mm f2.8? your shot with it looks so amazing.
Thanks for the content! What are you thoughts on contax g vs the classic contax zeiss distagon lenses in terms of cinematic feel?
Hey I love your videos!
Just subbed. Did you get the 45 yet? Would love to see a video on that one too.
Also, which camera did you use for the sample pics?
Thanks!
Also I got the 35 f2 conversion kit used for 320$ and talked a guy online into selling me his broken 35 f2 lens for 190$.
Don’t mean to flex just want to thank you for giving me the confidence and tutorial to pull it off myself.
Goddamn that brass looks good! I wish fuji would make a brass line up. The viltrox red lenses look cool too, more companies should start going outside the black/silver/charcoal range..
Heck yeah, a brass fuji camera and lens would be super cool, even just a limited edition
Thank heavens this Funleader helicoid is so damn expensive - it will hopefully put too many people off of cannibalising the G lenses and removing them from circulation for ever... :( I'm slightly relieved to see that this conversion is reversible. Fantastic video and production quality from GxAce as always! Machined brass artefacts fabricated as components of an intricately lit set... totally smashing it out the park 👍 The 28 and 45 are my fav G lenses...
Hahah good point, but yeah it being reversible means no lenses have to be cannibalized :) Glad you liked the video!
That is really cool.
Glad you liked it! I love your volumetric OLED display video! Hit me up if you ever want to do a collab. I feel we could do some cool shit together.
I saw a new upload and was like damn Monday became the new Friday.
Hahaha. I was hoping to get it out this weekend. I’ll take the Monday/Friday though ;)
@@GxAce for reals though man your work is inspiring. It moves me to try my hand at photography.
This is art and craft.
Thanks :))
This is amazing!!! Have you tried mounting it on the X-pro3 with a Leica adapter?
It definitely is awesome!
@@GxAce Thanks for sharing this! I love the G system as well. Looking forward to your next content.
Not sure if you are going to get this comment but your Ive been subbed for almost a year now and I always have the feeling of being an investor of a stock that will be a big hit someday :") keep up the good work, your cinematography never cease to impress and inspire me :)
Thank you so much for the comment! I really hope your investment pays of some day hahah. Thanks for your support my friend!
Love you videos! More please. :)
Your videos are ridiculously high quality! This kit is so cool
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
I contacted funleader and they said they are not producing the adapter anymore hence being sold out for some time now.
I wish these are still available in black, only gold left with is a bit too flashy for me
GXace's light has slowly revolved around him in every video until his face has been left in the shadows now, lol! 😅 Great cinematic look! A bit too dark in my opinion, but it looks amazing nonetheless. 👍
Your film making aesthetic is just on another fucking level omg
Which film stock did you use for the pictures?
All but the first two were on my m9 with my Lightroom presets. :)
wait hang on the guy you took a portrait of at 2:36 is one of the guys working for MKBHD! How did that picture come about? Oh and btw the buzzcut looks really good on you!
Indeed he is! Dave is a good friend of mine :)
@@GxAceI knew it! Cool 👍
seriously *what* is that floppy-drive machine in the intro?? it's so cool!! is it custom made?
Some people were saying there was an ad for it at the begging of one of my videos. Lemme find it. EDIT: here it is: ruclips.net/video/cLP7Wyo4fQY/видео.html
@@GxAce omg yes I remember now, I love it so much 😂
The cinematic garbage is definitely not garbage!! Damn!! When you use the slider for the lens reveal wow
Thanks so much! This was actually just a post zoom since I couldn’t use the slider and do the effect with the light at the same time
@@GxAce haha I was laying in bed going.. how did he rack focus and do that slider movement all by himself?! 😂.
I don't what he was talking but I watched the whole video without blinking
Hahaha. Thanks for sticking it out!
*know
is that the bloke from the MKBHD team?
Yeah haha Dave’s good people
I got a geeky question, why the titanium on the contax g looks much better than the prox3 one? I was kind of dissapointed when I saw the xpro3 in real life, it looks just like a paint whereas the contax looks like a coating or something like that. I've heard that titanium is hard to process, it seems like the expertise of applying it to cameras has been forgotten
I wish I knew! Haha the Contax does look way better than the xpro3. I’ve also dropped my Contax G1 down an entire flight of stairs before and it didn’t even get a scratch.
Because on the Contax it was raw titanium color, they don't add any paint on top of that (same with Fuji TX1). On the X-Pro3 they added paint (black, silver and matte black wit dura coating).
Titanium is actually very durable compare to brass but very scratch-able and hard to paint..very common problem on the black X-Pan, I think Fuji want to avoid this so they added dura coating with paint underneath. It might not look as cool but it will be as durable plus you have scratch resistant.
Is that David from MKBHD in the photos?
Haha, Indeed! Dave’s a friend of mine.
@@GxAce Well, it all makes sense now, seeing all the beautiful film cameras in some of the MKBHD videos. I mean only a true film nerd would have the Makina 67
@@jankubat2694 Haha, yup! Dave has a pretty nice medium format collection, and we are X-Pan bros.
Wait, is that David Imel??
The colors in this video = how colors should look like in real life.
ayy it's david!
Indeed! Dave is a cool dude.
Fuck these not so old Zeiss lenses are gorgeous!! Too bad almost no one is making lenses like these anymore. Voigtländer probably being the only ones.
Not enough sample images tho!
Yeah they are! I wish people did make lenses like this still. Absolutely, they are definitely the closest for sure. Yeah I got a few toys recently and didn't devote enough time to getting actually good photos with this setup hahah. I didn't worry too much since its more about the housing, but I will definitely keep up my sample photo game in the future.
You are the J Mascis of camera reviewers.
I don't know who this is but I'll take it as a compliment!
@@GxAce it is but too bad you don’t know who he is. It’s good music. Google him.
is that where you live?!
Thanks for NOT putting a light dome in front of your face. This looks truly cinematic.
Yeah I’m getting pretty bored of the softbox look hahah
Custom helicoid looks like helios 44 ))
A bit!
In my opinion there are more than enough Leica lens options out there, from numerous manufacturers. And all this does is take lenses away from people who actually use the Contax G system. Yes, they are prone to break because of electronics but against common belief there actually are people who repair Contax G bodies. Replacing a broken one with another Contax body is also still much cheaper than switching to Leica. If you feel like you have to use the 45mm Planar lens then please just get a working Contax body and deal with it's quirks. My opinion.
Well that's the very reason that I love that this kit is reversible, because I too absolutely love the Contax cameras and never did do the MS-Optical conversion because it wasn't reversible. I want my lenses to be able to be used on as many cameras as possible. The Contax G system is one of the most beautiful cameras out there, and because this kit is so simple to do, you can shoot a roll with your G1 and swap the lens over to a leica or mirrorless camera with good manual focus in under the time it took to watch this video.
I don't see a point of these conversions when you can get a brand new Zeiss ZM glass for about the same price. A Zeiss Planar ZM is well under $1K. You really have to own both Contax G and a M body to take advantage of it. But when you can afford both, you can definitely afford two sets of glass for both mounts.
It’s a completely different lens from those. The ZM Zeiss is a Biogon design. Not similar at all.
@@GxAce I know unless you can tell the differences from the images. The Biogon design on paper would be superior to Planar for wide angle (hence, the Contax G 35mm F2 didn't have as good reputation as its 45mm F2 sibling). The ZM designs are faithful to the original Zeiss Ikon designs from the 30s but with modern coatings. The Contax G series glass came out of Kyocera/Yashica line and is not a true Zeiss AG product. It 's just branded similar to Sony Zeiss glass. If I want to shoot true Zeiss, I would be more inclined to adapt Zeiss Opton or Jena glass with rangefinder coupling. So far I have only seen Amedeo does that and its adapter is hard to find. For that matter, the original fully mechanical Contax II and IIa are also less expensive than the electronic Contax G series in the used market.
oooooh and this makes the g system a no brainer, i was considering the system but the otherwise uselessness of the lenses was making me wonder if it’s a mistake
You can still adapt them without this housing conversion! The adapters are just a little funky
GxAce oh really, I somehow missed that entirely - thanks again!
Are you still in China?
Lovely ! But bro wtf happened to that nail, it hurts !
€1.124,96 without shipping only for an adapter? That's not cheap at all.
I just noticed that it looks like you don't have knuckles and can't bend your fingers, is that genetic?
Indeed! I can't bend any of my fingers, except where they meet my hands. They can bend if I push them but I can't flex them on their own.
@@GxAce Hope I didn't make you self conscious with that comment, another banger of a video!
No worries at all hahaha. Thanks for watching my friend!
this makes me wish Leica and range finder cameras were off limits to dudes that talk like kardashians.... jesu christ
Yeah me too like fuck.
Love the look, great job on the video
Thank you! Cheers!
