    Watching this after I bought mine, literally yesterday. 2014 70k miles. I slept in it last night. Like a little kid with new shoes. I have 0 regret.

    if anybody's in doubt about an FJ all they have to do is crawl underneath it see that massive frame the 4-link suspension coils and panhard bar and you have to say wow! no wonder why they cost more used than they did new cuz you're not going to find anything built like this ever again

    You just can't beat the reliability of Toyota and the rugginess of the FJ. Had mine since 2007 with 125k on it now and runs like the first day I bought it.

    The people dissing the FJ probably never leave the comfort of the asphalt or concrete. And then blame the space inside as inadequate just because they have grotesque fat carcasses.

    I have 190k on my FJ it has taking me on tons of off road adventures I did go up to the 285/70/17 tires and I do take very good care in maintenance and avoid mud when possible
    It still drives like new other than brakes shocks and routine maintenance I have not had to replace as much as a wheel bearing I can Honestly say It's the best vehicle I have ever owned loved the Video.

    I have an 07 FJ , of course I love everything about it, except the blind spots that everyone complains about. I fixed most of the issues by easily installing a front & rear back up camera as well as fish eyes on the left & right mirrors.
    Awesome video you guys, very nicely done now I love my FJ even more.

    I as well own a FJ, I love my FJ. I also have a 4 inch lift and, i am riding on 35, 12.50, 17 tires. Witch help a lot when it come to off road. Just a idea for more power I would lower your rear end gears to 4:88s. Oh and a wench thats a must have if you wheel on your own. Just a few ideas from one FJ toy another. Have fun and stay dirty.

    You can fully turn off traction control in any Toyota or Lexus. You just need to put the car in Park then hold the Traction Control button for 5+ seconds, you'll see VSC and Trac Control lights turn on on gauge cluster to let you know it is fully off.
    For future reference

    Great review! Have an 07 FJ put every mile on it at 159,000. A lot of my friends ragged on it until I took them off-roading. Most people who have one don't know what they have. The driver does make a big difference with any vehicle, but the FJ does what I need it to do. I run mine pretty hard and the few problems I have had were my fault. If you get the chance take it to the glamis or gordans well. Goes through the dunes like a champ. I run bfg all terrains and everything stock. Just air down and go!

    You yaks are having too much fun and I'm jealous. I got my all white 2010 with 87k for 21k dollars with all the off road bells and whistles and it was stock and the only thing I replaced are the tires. I went with BFG all terrain ko2 lt radials size 265 75r16. This gave me a slightly taller tires with more aggressive tread and I've never washed it since I got it a year ago. It just looks better being dirty lol. Enjoy it as much as I do mine. Godspeed!

    I have a 2008 FJ with 86.000 miles, (silver) it's like new still, never had a problem with it, when ever I see another one on the road people always wave like corvette and motorcycles owners do. I kinda like that.. i also think now that they don't make them anymore they will increase in value.

    not a bad review
    what year model was this?
    my 2014 i have:
    *downhill/uphill control ( crawl control )
    *i have a dif locker (factory)
    *a-track isn't like a LSD. it uses the abs to break the spinning wheel.
    *traction control. you can definitely fully turn off the traction control just need to be stopped and hold down the button for 5 sec.
    switching to low range turns it off anyway and enables a-track unless you turn it off as well.

    Haven't even cracked 40,000 miles on my 2014 fully paid Army Green FJ yet. At 40,800 will make my 6th oil change since brand spankin new. The cons about my FJ Cruiser is that the music is always on too loud when I start it up in the morning. It's quite shocking even after 2 cups of coffee.

    First off, there are NOT a lot more vehicles better off road....Rubicon, yes....Wider trails, the H1 Hummer, yes....The G550 4x4 squared, eh, debatable because of tip over issues....That's it! You can highly modify MANY things to be as good or better than all aforementioned vehicles....But really, with light modifying, only the Wrangler Rubicon can match its all-rounder ability! Great vid, thank you both, and you Devin, for offering us your ride for a moment!

    this truck ain't no military grade H1, I've had mine for 8 years now, I rock crawl, tow, and it's ironically my work truck. all I've done is installed rear air bags, upgrade to brakes and rotors, as well as installed a simple cut off switch to the vsc control module to kill the , it won't let me do donuts and stuff. I'm gonna be buried in that thing! every time I walk up to it, I actually stop and stare for a second, fall in love again. I was in the market for a new car. I've owned a '97 4Runner which was great! And then I had an '02 Highlander (V6, FWD) that I got as a second owner at 59k miles, but I lost my engine at 230k miles. I've had my eye on the FJ since it came out and I'm considering it heavily. Only thing is, I don't do off-roading but we do get significant snow in my area every now and again. How would you say this vehicle performs around town and on the highway? I'm a soccer mom that does a lot of driving. Should I get one?

    • @beactivelife
      @beactivelife 8 лет назад +2

      It is in excellent daily driver, very comfortable in town and also on the highway. However, I am 6 ft 4 and feel that I sit way too low (field of view is not that great out the front). You can raise the seat a bit and that does help. Also, very low fuel performance, probably 15-16 mpg average. Rear seating is not very good, hard for most passengers to get in and out of the back seat. Reliability has been amazing, no issues whatsoever on my 07. I would say in your case to consider a newer 4Runner if you were using it as a soccer mom vehicle, if you need the space. But the FJ is a lot of fun too. Just consider what you need and test drive a couple different vehicles and of course an FJ, good luck

      We'd love to get our hands on a Tacoma. Unfortunately, our control over which vehicles we can review is limited. But we keep asking!

    Great reviews of the fj and power wagon! Gotta review the 4runner trd pro! It would be great to get your insight and see you put it through the paces. Thanks for your work!

      Hopefully someday soon we can get our hands on a Toyota 4Runner TRD PRO. It would definitely be put through its paces.

    When you turn the traction control off, you need to hold the button down for about five seconds,another light will illuminate on the dash. This turns off the skid/stability ... Then you can have as much fun as you want.

    How would you say the drive is for a 4wd fj cruiser is compared to a Rwd fj? Rough, smooth, or what?

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  7 лет назад

      There is probably little difference in ride quality from 4wd to 2wd. The only factors that really affect ride quality are tires and suspension. This particular FJ had a factory tuned off-road suspension and Bilstein shocks.

    Can someone explain why Toyota discontinued the FJ, was that because the consumers are not into the outdoor or found the FJ not too comfortable? I own one and should have bought two at the time, never had issues traversing the hardest trails and beaten mountain terrains. Shame on you, Toyota!!

      It's not comfortable on long drives, and lets face it, the aesthetics of the rig are an acquired taste. But I love mine, and it still purring as it did when I first drove it off the lot.

      It was beating the American made vehicles in the same class, especially with many people converting from jeep. Toyota fixed their issues year after year (unlike Chevy/jeep) until there was really nothing left but adding fun features. Demand fell because the quality of their product made customers keep them longer, which is against standard American consumer habits. I have a 07 Fj with 140K. I would only upgrade to another used fj.

    The FJ is still in production, it is just not sold in the US, big difference, as new factory parts are available via Toyota dealers via Japan not to include the plethora of aftermarket parts available. The FJ is no longer sold new in the US. You can buy a new FJ in Saudi, South Africa, Philippines, China and numerous other markets. The reason that is important is knowing you can buy replacement factory parts that are also still being produced for major end items.

      +AvIXIo 40 it's alway nice to hear our work is appreciated. Thanks for your support. As for the Ram Rebel and Ford Raptor, we would love to accommodate your request. Unfortunately, AVR is still in the beginning stages of development and needs to gain more popularity before the manufacturers bless us with more vehicles. We need the help of our fans to spread the word about us and build our sibscriber count to a more generous amount. So tell your friends to tell their friends. Thanks a lot! We look forward to creating more videos. Trust me, our adventures are just beginning. You should check out the RUclips channel for our associate and renowned stunt man, Troy Hartman. If you type his name in on the RUclips search bar, you can't miss it.
      AVR is currently in the process of incorporating Troy as he attempts something that has never been done before. I would love to give you more details but it's still in the early stages of development. Stay motivated and together we can revolutionize automotive journalism. Keep up the mission of spreading the word about AVR!

    Hey, guys thanks for the great video, I too am a proud FJ owner, I use her to get to some hiking and backpacking destinations, after you video think I'll look for some more challenging places, any suggestions for the San Diego area?
    Ohhh Rahhh gents

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  8 лет назад

      +Harold Garcia that's for the comment! Inspiring others to get out and seek challenging adventures is one of our primary objectives. As for the San Diego area, I would check out a very unique waterfall system called "The three sisters." It's located in the outskirts of San Diego county. The main trailhead doesn't require an adventure based vehicle to get there; however, there is talk of a back way which is very technical for vehicles and allows a decent into the top of the falls. I've never been that route and I'm not sure of its validity.
      Up to you to decide and conduct research to find the route. Either way, the falls are well worth the trip. Semper Fi
