    I had a 2013 FJ with 20,000 on the clock, a 3 in lift and 33's on it. In the winter of 2014, I drove from Sacramento, CA to Aurora, CO in what I would describe as an actual blizzard. This vehicle plowed through the Rockies like it was nothing. We chipped out sometimes 5 inches of ice out of the wheel wells and kept moving through blinding conditions at -10F. It was one of the most difficult driving experiences of my life slowly climbing winding mountain roads where many other 4x4's had given up on the side of the road, but the FJ pressed on. It wasn't quiet, or completely comfortable - but I had complete confidence in it's capability to get me to there. Easily one of the best vehicles I ever owned.

      It was early winter circa 1982. I was driving my 78 C-J(7) and my side swivel antenna kept rotating downward towards the pavement. I made the decision to pull into a ole gas station parking lot which appeared to have a large puddle in the gravel lot and the rain had just ceased. Little did I know, the gas tanks for the station had just been removed and I drove right into it.

      @@JacesOwnWorld it might be priced similarly to a 4 door Bronco or Wrangler. And it would probably have either a turbocharged engine or a hybrid. Or it might be a full EV. Oh, don't expect a removable roof or removable doors, Toyota isn't really into that kind of thing.

    • @K.H1914
      @K.H1914 2 года назад +1

      If they bring it back I’d definitely consider it over the bronco and wrangler, as long as it’s priced competitively the same. Only reason why FJ cruisers are getting pricey now is b/c of how the market is and with the introduction of the Ford Bronco, it meant more legit competition in the SUV off-road market. I would love to see Toyota take a jab with the FJ cruiser b/c the 4 runner just doesnt compete with the Bronco or Wrangler 🤷🏾‍♂️. But that’s my opinion ofc

    I love my FJ. A few things that don't get discussed much. I live in a very hot climate. That vertical windshield extends the roof to keep you in the shade most of the day. The horizontal hatch is very handy. The rear tires provide side roof rack access. I don't consider the visibility poor; it has a couple blinds spots that can be overcome by the driver, which is natural if you are used to towing travel trailers.
    The only thing i wish they would have done differently is having the ability to lower the rear door windows.

My FJ Cruiser even tows my "house" a Keystone Bullet Crossfire. I bought my '10 FJ with under 44kmiles for under $30k. A daily driver it is not, even though I basically do. I have absolutely loved it on the dunes and off roading though. It's really been just the gearbox that gives me challenges as the 6MT is a liability for most of off roading. Rock climbing is so hard with MT. I really could use a crawler 1st gear. I have heard the new Bronco has one, but I'll make due. 11:42 That is a good mantra. My family and I put it to use when we didn't go down and then back up the steps at Marble Head. No one was there aside from us and the clutch had taken a pounding already. I had to make a call that going home was more important.

    I still own a 2007 I bought in 2006 for $35000 CA. Yes, it has ruined me for anything that is being produced today. Its just the right size for me. Yes the perceived visibility isn't great at first, but once you get used to it, you will realize some parts of it is good. For instance the view of the road is much better than a Wrangler or Bronco because the hood is short, sloped and narrow. Its almost as roomy inside than those with a wheelbase that a foot shorter or more. Yes its not great for rear passengers but ideal for my hunting dog or for hunting stuff. While its not the most comfortable highway cruiser, I'm certain its better than any vehicle that has a removable roof. Its not perfect, but still better for me than anything out there now short of a Rivian R1T.

    I own a fj 08 model for the last 11yrs, bought it in 2011 when it only did app 18.000 mls. Unlike a lot of people i instantly fell in love with the fj looks from the start. In fact i had seen it on the road in 2008 and made a mental note that i want that car, it was so unique. A friend told me it looks butch, i guess it was a fitting description; Anyway as it turns out a few years after seeing it on the road i saw an ad in the newspapers fj cruiser for sale, right away i called and asked if it was white and blue, the seller confirmed that it was as i didn't know what an fj was. Anyway 11yrs since i'm still in love with my fj and of course it never let me down. I just changed the trans oil after 100.000 klm for the first time. The 08 color is called voodoo blue and it stands out in contrast to the masses of modern vehicles painted in these bland modern metallic colors. It will become a classic like the fj 40. Since i don't have a family i don't mind the lack of room behind for passengers, for me the design is above all other inconvenient aspects.

    No cracks on my front windscreen, original owner, 140k miles, 2007 purchase. Love it! I wish they still made it. I paid 23,000 dollars. Best value ever

    When they came out in the UAE I found them very funky looking but people still bought them. I thought it was named FJ after Fujairah which is a mountainous region in UAE. It did look like it could climb mountains and conquer the desert

    Capable, reliable, unique yet restrained. This is the formula that the longer I own my FJ, the more it’s worth.

      @@hotrod7603 boring to drive because it's gutless and hurts your butt and lumbar after 30 minutes, manual trans is more fun, still gutless. Capable off-road, more comfortable suspension/quieter/doesn't leak like a Jeep. And it won't be too mad at you when you fill the floor board with muddy water.

    I owed an FJ CRUISER, and cannot express how much I loved it. Ex-wife made me sell it, and every time I see an old FJ it brings a mix regret and joy. Toyota PLEASE bring it back.
