    The heavy duty-est drilling frame I have ever seen! Check out the green belting. It is grippier and seems to last longer.

    Very nice! I must say that your editing of the video was VERY good. And no music. Also a plus. Very good engineering of the part as well.

    Facinating to watch your fabrication, very impressive. Please show us what & how this tool is used.

      It is a drilling/milling attachment for the lathe, more videos to come where I'll make use of it

    Thanks for posting.
    I've been planning on something very similar for a while now, been accumulating parts far too long but haven't come up with anything for outer shell/bearing holder, the idea of sleeving hadn't occurred to me (I really don't want to bore from a solid bar on a mini lathe ! )
    Got ER25 collet's years ago so got extended holder to match them to make it from, variable speed DC motor with control circuit from a treadmill and various thrust and radial bearings, oil seals, etc (probably make bearings oil bath as they have less drag than grease filled )
    The ER20 collet holder seemed to have a really thick wall on the main shaft, what is the shaft OD?
    ER 25 collet holder is 20mm OD so standard metric bearings can be used.
    I'm also intending to make it angle adjustable so I can mill larger diameter threads, (22mm and larger, need to be able to set helix angle) which I doubt would be possible by any other means?

      Shaft OD for ER20 is also 20mm (other options are available like 15mm) the thread I made was 20x1

    I am a little surprised you didn't use a interference fit on the brass rings to stop any chance of spinning. Putting the brass in a freezer to reduce the diameter.
    This does not take away the skill you have in making this tool.
    Cheers

      There is no need for that as the brass ring is retained by a shoulder and pressed in place by the thrust bearing

    Why is there a thrust bearing when you are using a tapered bearing?

    • @botavictor5832
      @botavictor5832  Год назад +2

      The thrust bearing is to preload the tapered roller bearing
