yes, lobes=oscillations in this case one revolution of the chuck translates to 6 full revolutions of the cam and as the cam moves the cross slide backwards and forwards 2 times on each revolution I get 12 oscillations per revolution the ratio of the gearbox at the end of the leadscrew is fixed to 1:3 and, so setting the overall ratio is done in the gearbox of the lathe I can also do spirograph designs with it
