  • Welcome back to the channel! Todays vlog gives you a peak at Leah's Autism Speech Therapy sessions with some footage to help give you an idea of what to expect for your kiddo. Different SLP's use different strategies depending on the needs of the child and for us we focus on connection over compliance. Non Verbal - Minimally speaking Autism is still really misunderstood. Speech Therapy has been extremely helpful for our autistic daughter but it doesn't look like how we thought it would. And as it turns out she doesn't learn how we thought she would either.
    By sharing our experiences, we hope to create awareness, understanding, and support for families navigating the unique challenges and joys of raising a child with autism. Join us as we celebrate the small victories, learn from the obstacles, and cherish the beauty of progress in our daughter's incredible journey towards communication and self-expression.
    Whether you're a parent of a child with autism, a caregiver, or someone seeking to learn more about this remarkable community, this vlog is an opportunity to connect, inspire, and foster a sense of unity in our collective pursuit of inclusivity and acceptance.
    Let's come together, share stories, and break down barriers, one vlog at a time. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to join our supportive community. Together, we can create a world where every voice is heard and celebrated. 💙 #AutismAwareness #SpeechTherapyJourney #InclusionMatters

    Go Leah!! I think Gestalt Language Processing is pretty fascinating. I’m so glad people are figuring out the way some learners process language in this way.

      I’m hoping that changing the strategies based on that knowledge is going to be helpful and give us more to work with! It’s super interesting but also very confusing for me

    Autumn learns speech like this too. Music is the only way she can pronounce words properly. Her speech is unintelligible UNLESS she’s singing it. 😅

      Autumns AAC is honestly too complicated at times but she’s making progress.

      Ok!! That’s so interesting. When she sings I can get the gist of the words and sometimes she will even get a few bang on! But I’m sure as you’ve noticed just everyday “talking” is just a bunch of sounds and jargon. I wonder why that is? And ya we would love for the AAC to work but right now it’s just too hard and she also sometimes has a flip out because to her iPad is for her shows and if we don’t put shows she doesn’t understand why and gets super mad

      @@RaisingAutumn I also know ppl advocate for a huge board with a lot of things but we scaled her other cards down a bit and it’s been more successful. I think she was overwhelmed by so many icons at once. I don’t know. It’s so hard to know what to do and so many ppl have opinions.

      We found a pec system type schedule to be the easiest for Autumn at that age.

    How many words can she say

    • @thatdailymama
      @thatdailymama  Год назад

      Hard to say. Sometimes she will say a word and then not say it again ever or for a very long time. She says uh oh consistently and can count to 10 with prompts. Most of her language is prompted and echolalia
