    It was super helpful. Although I'm not even sure if my child is autistic yet, I have been noticing some signs since he was about eight months old. He is nonverbal and he is almost 22 months old. He's trying to speak and he finds different ways to communicate with me otherwise. I've been trying to figure out what else I can do to help his speech along or his communication in any type of way and so this video was super helpful. Thank you so much!

    Thank you, your video made me more confident about what I have created to use for my students on the autism spectrum. Last year I created a communication notebook in a binder which had pictures of school items, snacks to encourage students to point to or touch the picture of what they wanted. Thank you for being encouraging and keeping it straightforward. Also, thanks for reminding us to give our students time to process by being quiet and that helping them be able to communicate is the objective.

    Hi Emily thank you so much for your video that gives great tips on communication with kids who are nonverbal and other kids who are verbal. I’m going into the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and I’m super excited because this will give the insight of what is to give therapy to children and it involves communication. I look forward to this job and this will also help me pursue my career in Speech-Language Pathologist and get my MA. Again, thank you for this video and it’s helpful also for ABA therapists.

    • @doyouhearthepeoplesing2
      @doyouhearthepeoplesing2 Год назад

      Please don’t ABA is NOT therapy it’s abuse

    • @Czadzikable
      @Czadzikable Год назад +1

      @@doyouhearthepeoplesing2 I used to think that too, but have come to realise that it's not the ABA method that is the problem really, but how is it applied /what is it applied to achieve. Having seen some bad examples of it, I thought it was bad too, but after having a closer look at it, I realised that ABA is actually just a highly effective approach that combines trying to understand the function of the behaviour - WHY a child behaves in a given way and what motivates them - and positive reinforcement - praise and reward for achieving steps towards developing behaviours and communication that will help the kids develop communication, cognitive abilities, achieve more independence and an overall better quality of life.
      Where ABA can be harmful is when some people or organisations use the method along with a harmful ideology to make the kids appear more neurotypical by discouraging behaviours that don't appear neurotypical but actually benefit the autistic child, such as stimming. These people seem to prioritise making the children appear more "normal" and fit in (rather than prioritizing the child's quality of life) - using ABA in that way can be abusive.
      But ABA just as a method in itself is clearly not abusive - as long as it is done positively and prioritises improving the child's quality of life, you can clearly see from both individual cases and bigger studies, that it's just about using the most effective positive reinforcement to support the child to communicate and develop to their full potential.

      She's probably just trying her best and struggling with trying to raise them. Some autistic kids are too much for families to be inside the home. But they don't want to put them in a home. It's not evil . Most ppl just think if someone can't figure out how to help or care give for kids that are unique. Then them and the kids will be judged or put in the evil group

    I commented before that I wasn't sure if my son was autistic yet when he was 22 months old but that he was showing signs since about 8 or 9 months old. He is now almost 27 months old and I found out that he IS autistic. Working with a speech therapist currently. On our 6th session tomorrow. Wondering how involved the therapist should be in treatment with him at this point because I feel like maybe not enough is happening there. But what do I know? Lol. I'm not a speech therapist. So I'm trying to find out what things I should be looking for her to be doing with him at this point in his therapy. Or if I should be looking for a more motivated therapist for him.

      Best advice I can give is to take him in for regular in person therapy with a speech therapist near you! Wishing all the best to you and your little guy!

    That's too many words for numbers 4. Especially if there is an auditory delay. It's big struggle for me and my child. Can you give shorter versions? By the time I get the words that I understand she wants xyz she'll already starting to tantruming that then turns into a meltdown. Transitions are hard too so when it's time to leave that's always a struggle. No matter how many times I communicate how much time we have left and so on.

      Thank you doc for your good work
      It’s been months now and my child has improved completely since using your herbs.
      His therapist and school teacher has confirmed his improvement and this makes me happy
