I'm flying my family to Hong Kong from Manila for the first time and I've been debating whether to go for PAL or Cathay Pacific. My mom has been campaigning for PAL since she's been flying for 16 years, well, that was almost 2 decades ago. From your review, it looks like that glory is long gone... It seems that flying with the budget airlines (cebpac) provides better experience than PAL, finally decided to go for Cathay Pacific thanks to this video.
They’re set to start refurbishment of the A321ceos with new seats starting this year! This config was implemented when San Miguel bought a stake in the airline and tried to turn the airline into a Full Service, LCC airline, the original company bought back their shares and they’ve been focusing on refurbishing the medium haul fleet and acquiring new planes. They were about to refurbish these planes and then COVID happened.
That's the flight I'm considering. The more I read, the more I feel I should look elsewhere. I like the direct flight, but I'm not a small guy. Maybe if I could get economy premium but that cost more than double.
correct that's why Hong Kongers Singaporeans Taiwanese South Koreans Chinese and Japanese will always do SQ KE/OZ JL/NH BR/CI formerly JX CZ/MU/MF/ZH and CX to MNL CEB version KE/OZ CX MU/MF BR/CI/JX and SQ. For MNL Dutchman KL807/808 Frenchman AF208/209 over PR. If you want those qualities of LRT,MRT and PNR with the ULH runs of SQ21/23 CX831/841/843/899 try PR127 which I'll never do. Perth bound PR224
Last month, I flew to Tokyo with Philippine Airlines, and it was a complete disaster. My layover was in Manila for 18 hours, and NAIA isn't ideal for transit due to its poor maintenance and small size. While waiting to board my flight to Tokyo, the ground staff announced that the flight was overbooked. They offered $200 compensation to passengers willing to take the next flight. Fortunately, I had a seat in row A, so I avoided the issue.. Lol go through NAIA airport and see how much worse it could be.
Why would you post "Never again"? It seems like your flight went off splendidly. You chose the flights and economy class. You chose the schedule. The flights operated on time and one arrived early. The employees were pleasant. What would PAL have needed to do to get a "10 out of 10"?

I'm surprised that you've booked Philippine Airlines. It's a surprise to me (as a Filipino) that someone is transiting in Manila via PR. I know that A321-200's does not have the pleasant experience we all need as it is still in the old configuration under the former management''s project. But rest assured that the newer A321neos', A350's and some A330's in new configuration as well as B777's of PR are very good and surely you'll have pleasant experiences. I'm pleased that you've recovered now from that unpleasant experience in Thailand. Always stay healthy!.

For me Philippines Airlines and Manila Airport are most DEFINATLY a NEVER AGAIN. It's not that it's been one bad experience but four of them. First experience: Against my better judgement I was persuaded to fly Port Moresby to Bangkok via Manila (Economy). Awful journey to Manila, compounded by waiting nearly an hour after landing for a bay for us to de-plane. Then I had to go through Immigration and customs to another terminal via a totally disorganised bus transit and re-check in again. The gate number was wrong. There was no refreshments and little duty free work talking about. My connection 3 hours late. I flew back BKK to POM via Singapore, changing my ticket. Worse when flying London-Manila (Economy) Dreadful service, unable to sleep at all, crying babies and shouting kids. On arrival in Manila, again told to transit via immigration and customs but this time, no luggage. Where is it? It's been transferred to the other terminal? I didn't believe it. Re-checked in in the other terminal. Where's your luggage? Told it's already in this terminal. Huh. After threats of litigation if my luggage didn't turn up in Port Moresby, I was allowed into the departure lounge. At a desk in the lounge was my luggage unattended. Flight to Port Moresby delayed two hours, and I arrived exhausted, vowing NEVER to fly Philippines Airlines EVER again and always to avoid Manila Airport. My recommendation to EVERYONE. I now fly to Bangkok, via Hong Kong, or Singapore or via Brisbane, anything to AVOID MANILA.
I am Filipino but an airline is a business. No excuses for sloppy service and mishandling of luggages. Hopefully, they can turn it around when they have the new airport being built by San Miguel Corporation. For the meantime, avoid Manila if you can.

Greeting from down under (Australia) New to your channel! Really enjoyed your vlog, very well detailed. My husband (who is Filipino) and I have travelled PAL from Sydney to Manila a few times. We've always enjoyed PAL's service, they fly A330-300 from Sydney. Must admit we've never enjoyed MNL airport, always hot and crowded.
Hi Adrian, I enjoyed your video and hope to see more of your travel videos. I have never flow PAL before and is very interesting therefore to see your journey. Safe travels! Regards Hsiang
I just took PAL from LA to MNL round trip about 1 months ago, the Boeing 777 they used were the most aged 777 I have ever experienced in my 30 years business travel life. The 777 from LA to MNL, the A/V system had no audio at all, and they don't seem to care, so as the blanket they provided had many holes and so much thinner than other competitors. To me, it's a "never again" airline to travel with, I use it just becaus it's a direct flight. What a mistake!
Deceiving! I have not experienced PAL for any flight abroad and no plans of flying with our country's flag carrier. You should have tried other Asian airlines.
PAL should be boycott , twice happened to me .On the way back home from the Philippines , no Television , really SUCKS and it's a night flight , never again . I'd rather fly with Cebu Pacific next time at least I know I will get nothing on the flight
To be honest, the most turn off for Philippine airlines is their unprofessional check in agents and gate agents. Boarding time is their “final call” time or even earlier. I went through security with 1hr 30mins before flight departure and board says final call. Arrived gate asked agents they laughed and said “ dont you wanna arrive early” im like “it doesnt mean you can change the time without upper management approval”, got on the plane and end up waiting for an hour without apologies from anyone as i wanted to grab food for takeaway. Will never travel international with them again. Only domestically.
Never and i mean never fly PAL's old planes like their A321's, as their very very old and have outdated seats, try you best to secure their new airbus a321neo, or their a350-900 and soon to arrive a350-1000 as they have very nice a modernized seats. A lot of planes like the a321-200 shown here from PAL are starting to go and get refurbished and getting the same seats as the a321neo which has our newest business class and economy class with inflight entertainment. PAL is also set to get at least 100+ new planes from airbus by the end of 2025
I flew once about 18 years ago, and had very bad experiences due to the food and the entertainment. My smart @$$ decided gave it a second chance from the US to Vietnam flight with PAL. This time, it was on New Year Day of 2023. When I got there, waiting forever to board a plane because of power shortage and no flight was coming in or out. On top of that my final destination was Saigon and they got me to Hanoi. That was not over yet. I got to Hanoi with no luggages, and had to pay another $100 usd for another flight to Saigon. Then 4 days later my luggages were arriving to Hanoi then I had to request them to fly my luggages to Saigon. NEVER AGAIN. I wished I could give them reviews on all platforms that I know.....
Yes Philippine Airlines is one the the best trained crews in the aviation industry....where i rely for my safe trip...yes its comfortable flying with PAL.....services so professional....onboard meals are so yummy....Riyadh to Manila all thumbs up!
Please try also the Singapore to Cebu in any of these airlines; Singapore Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Air Asia, Cebu Pacific Air, Cathay Pacific Air and many more. Take care.
I will never take that Airline ever any more my flight ✈️ to LAX to Manila was a bad night mare instead my flight ✈️ hours is 14 it took 20 hours to much delay unbelievable 😱😱😱
If that were the case, the airline would've prompted passengers to change their boarding aircraft to a different one as a delay like this isn't even merely possible to occur, considering the airport traffic and the expenses an airline has to make if it were that late.
yea this is pretty standard for economy. Some economy these days dont even give food lol. Also what is that "after waiting for 10 mins for the bathroom" well thats not a frigging review of the plane, its just the person in front of you took longer.
Filipinos will be the first people to tell you that PAL is trash, and no one would willingly choose it if they had better alternatives. All balikbayans fly Qatar, Etihad or Emirates.
We flew for the second time with PAL in our several decades in the USA so disappointed First of all when we got-to LAX me and my husband were not given seats together I was so upset and they didn’t really care. Coming back we had to pay extra so we could seat together how sad NEVER again so disappointing and a disgrace to our country

Yung single video of anything Filipino= negative.
Biyaan byo po sya, bitter lang yan lol.
You’re doing a great job and other reviewers (mostly from the West who lack the biases this RUclipsr has) are giving you the kudos you deserve. Mabuhay kayo! ❤🇵🇭
don't expect too much for flying economy. PAL is a lot better than flying the US airlines, with no food, non existent service and grumpy flight attendants
Vietnam airlines going to return to Manila this June from Hanoi and Saigon , both flight duration are 2h30 and serve hot meal là services
hi bro, welcome back. what an honest review.
thanks!
That meal service presentation looked a bit sad and lackluster IMO. Paper box with something that looks like cat puked on it doesn't looks appetizing.
It's carinderia-style pasta.
Thank you for sharing.
Does PAL have premium economy for Hong Kong - Manila - Singapore?
😢 long haul flight,,and no tv?? 😢😢😢
Philippines airlines the heart of the filipino Aisa first airlines
Holy moly it was a miserable flight from Lax to Manila in economy. I wanted to open the emergency door and jump out.
Why didn’t you it?
😀😀😀, good you didn't
Why you dont do jump????
@@elizavasquez4171 hahaha
It is better to use Cathay Pacific going to HK and Singapore Airlines to SG
PAL loves their no IFE A321s...but they charge accordingly aka cheap.
Hi Adrian, I enjoyed your video and hope to see more of your travel videos. I have never flow PAL before and is very interesting therefore to see your journey. Safe travels! Regards Hsiang
Glad you enjoyed it!
so glad the flights from the US use newer planes with IFE
I just took PAL from LA to MNL round trip about 1 months ago, the Boeing 777 they used were the most aged 777 I have ever experienced in my 30 years business travel life. The 777 from LA to MNL, the A/V system had no audio at all, and they don't seem to care, so as the blanket they provided had many holes and so much thinner than other competitors. To me, it's a "never again" airline to travel with, I use it just becaus it's a direct flight. What a mistake!
hitting 30k subs congrats
Thank you so much 😀
Deceiving! I have not experienced PAL for any flight abroad and no plans of flying with our country's flag carrier. You should have tried other Asian airlines.
What is deceiving about this video? He wrote about his experience. Some things he liked, some he didn’t. That’s all.

Thank to Sharing your Experience Philippines Air line Watching Washington DC USA MABUHAY💕🇵🇭🇺🇸
No one is formally complaining against the quality of Philippine airline services that’s why it will remain that way forever.
Riding budget airlines is much better than choosing Philippine Airlines 😂
New to your channel, awesome flight review there Adrian., great video footage of your big day 2 flights✈👍
Thanks for the sub!
PAL is also set to get at least 100+ new planes from airbus by the end of 2025
I've flown Philippine Airlines economy RT to USA 3 times. Not great, but OK.
Most of them are like that. Why don't you take a business class(st..pd) if you don't want any hassle or else stay home.
Sikip ng upuan ng economy nato.. di maka tulog ng maayos.. tapos 8 to 9 pa byahe😫
All my worst experiences as a traveler is with PAL
Your skin is so nice, do u have a skincare routine video?
You just experienced worst airline and worst airport in the world bar none.
Agree about NAIA. If there is a worse airport, I’d hate to fly there.
Bro philippine airlines is a 4 star airline 💀
You are too nice to PAL. I would rate it 5 out 10. Ty for being nice. PAL needs to buy new planes like SAL
Salamat Petang from a Indian in hk , I must say that airport is to big for me
Yes Philippine Airlines is one the the best trained crews in the aviation industry....where i rely for my safe trip...yes its comfortable flying with PAL.....services so professional....onboard meals are so yummy....Riyadh to Manila all thumbs up!
agree
I always go CebuPac ots cheaper the hell with amenities we where not as spoiled as westeners and chinese from any country.
Please try also the Singapore to Cebu in any of these airlines; Singapore Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Air Asia, Cebu Pacific Air, Cathay Pacific Air and many more. Take care.
nice to see this:)
good vlog, watching from Boston USA
Thank you for the tips about Pal. I’m new subscribers thanks.
Maybe next time you travel again going to Singapore try Philippines airlines the business class , thanks
I'm just ok with PAL service, but i suggest to always avoid manila airport
Take the 1st class set, avoid complaining!!!
Cathay and Singapore are the only decent airlines in Asia. Eva is close. Of course yo get what you paid for,
How about Japan Airlines, ANA, Korean Air? Those are 5 Star Asian Airlines
PAL food sucks! I tried their GARLIC RICE & DAING FRIED BANGUS. Garlic rice is wet & the fried Bangus is not Crispy ! EVA AIR serves better food !
You pay economy, you get economy.
thai airlines, malaysia, geruda, singapore, all their economy class has TV
@@paranoya733for real, only pal for asian flights doesn't have tv
Also Cathay
@@cbsguy6363 What kind of question is that?
yea this is pretty standard for economy. Some economy these days dont even give food lol. Also what is that "after waiting for 10 mins for the bathroom" well thats not a frigging review of the plane, its just the person in front of you took longer.
Flying their A321ceo is like travelling low-cost
Filipinos will be the first people to tell you that PAL is trash, and no one would willingly choose it if they had better alternatives. All balikbayans fly Qatar, Etihad or Emirates.
5:40 just do ur business inside that toilet, no video, no wonder the que is long, unfair for next user
Next time fly Capiz Airlines cheaper with good food.
I hope you finally get the chance to tour and visit the Philippines! We will be waiting! ❤
hopefully soon!
I mean a less than two hour flight and you were provided with the meal. In Europe not even a glass of water 😅
Philippine Airlines is one my favorite airline✈️🇵🇭❤️
PAL is the Worst Airline ! I will Never take this Airline again . Terrible Experience. Cebu Pacific is a much Better Deal.
what you want, they give you first class treatment and you pay economy 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
I’d fly PHilippine airlines to Singapore.
Anxious because people were in-front of you!? Wow 😂😂😂😂
Traveling nowadays is exhausting..
Very tight leg room and seat look so cramp.. Manila really need new airport..
We flew for the second time with PAL in our several decades in the USA so disappointed
First of all when we got-to LAX me and my husband were not given seats together
I was so upset and they didn’t really care. Coming back we had to pay extra so we could seat together how sad NEVER again so disappointing and a disgrace to our country
Travel stress free, avoid Philippine Airlines.
It's ok w/me..people just complain a lot..just be grateful
the flights are too crowded, and filipinos bring the whole house. They have like 3 or 4 carry ons,,,,hahaha,,,,,
bad services and always delayed .....
The only good thing about the Airline are the pilots, and the cabin crew, there's a reason why they are in decline.
Not bad at all.
I like Philippine airlines ❤
And yeah! They openned and stole some of my stuffed.
They have to change the name of the airport to just Manila international airport, because Ninoy Aquino is not a hero at all.
And I’m sure Marcos is hero to you. 😂

aw kid unfortunately i have the freedom to travel and experience the world
Don't fly Philippine airlines horrible ground staff. horrible experience and just plain old horrible.
You ain't like philippine air?
Nalagkamalan kang DH ng crew.
Tutoo yan. Marami sa crew nila snooty and arrogant. Very deficient in the Smile Department. Kung magsalita o kumilos, Akala nila kung sino sila. They forget they are service workers. Kelangan siguro mag TQM seminar sila.
Food out of a cardboard box?!
Very poor.
Nakakahiya talaga itong Philippines airlines and Asian pacific
