I went back to relaxers 5 years ago, after my 3rd failed (& longest) attempt to remain natural. Haven't looked back since. Sometimes I wear my hair in braid-outs or perm rod sets, but it's the ultimate convenience to be able to just air dry my hair for a few hours and pass a straightener over it 1 time and be done. No overnight drying, no gel, no brushing or even combing. I used to worry that being relaxed was a statement that I took issue with my ethnic identity but eventually learned that it's a matter of preference, for me. I don't see it as being any worse or different from a body modification. If anything, it's not as bad as others because you can just chop the relaxed hair off and start fresh if you want to.
I think what people don’t talk about is the fact that natural hair is somehow deemed inconvenient by many ppl that go back relaxed. I think it has a lot to do with ppl not accepting their hair the way it is. For some it’s just simply their hair doesn’t look the way they want it. And natural hair has a mind of its own. It’s very low maintenance if you just let it be itself. You’d comb it once a week if that. It becomes high maintenance when there are expectations for it to be a certain way.

This technique is everything. As someone who has relaxed her own hair in the past it makes absolutely sense. The scalp is sensitive him relaxing the top first is to avoid burning, the reverse is usually for hair that has previously been relaxed and just requires the new growth to be touched up.
Your hair is absolutely stunning Tshego! I also recently relaxed in December after a 5/6 year natural hair journey! No regrets! Can't wait to see your relaxed hair regiment.

Honestly I find this more of a guilt trip if anything so double standards on your part. There is such a thing as technological advancement and all such things as drugs, chemicals, gadgets are a result of the above. I would like to believe you refrigerate your food, microwave it, use soaps, creams, lotions to simplify your life even though you know of all their adverse effects. The same goes for hair chemicals they are meant to simplify your life. If u are having a hard time that is. If u can manage your hair without any need for chemicals good for you who knows you might even live a thousand years but stop guilt tripping those who opt for it. Let people live, let them catch a break. Better yet it's also a style to wear your hair straight let them be. I have seen naturals coloring their hair(also chemicals) don't see nobody guilt tripping them
@@rittahsent8121 Yeah there are technological advancements and stuff. But the main thing is that black women who straighten their hair want to be like white women . If natural hair people dye their hair, they ( for the most part) aren't trying to be like Becky because they just want a different color and there's nothing really white about getting a different color. But black women try everything to get straight white women hair on their head. Most white women nowadays don't try and get an afro, even when they do color their hair.
@@whitedogsblackcats Why so many rules for black women? Why people like you can't let them be free? Other women can do whatever they want with their hair, women from different races always change their hair not only color it, but curly people who are not black straighten their hair (flat iron, keratin treatment, japanese straight etc) and people who have straight hair curl their hair (curling iron, perm rods etc), their community don't harass them constantly like you do, they let them be free. No one tell them that they want to be other people. Stop acting like we all have to think and act the same way, this is not a cult let other people be free to make their own decisions!
@whitedogsblackcats you do realize there are black people with naturally straight hair?? Ethiopian and Somalian black women can have straight hair. It's literally just about preference, our hair doesn't have to be a political statement.
@rittah sent so because people relax their hair that makes them want to be like white women???? 🙄 that is so old a statement. Nobody should make anyone feel bad if this what they want to do. It is a choice not because we want to look like white women
goals, for those scared of relaxers try brazillian treatment or keratin treatment as an option. however brazillian works better on 4c hair it will give you the straightness without having to worry about the harshness that comes with relaxers. I do it once a year depending with your hair and how you want it to look it can last 4-6 months I wait 6 months and put my hair in a protective style for the remaining 6 then treat again. It's the best decision I ever made. It can be pricey to do the treatment but definitely worth it. else get your hairdresser to do home visits that way you skip paying the salon prices.
@@Extraordinary-80 my hairdresser just calls it Brazilian blowout that's the one mostly suggested for black girl hair the keratin apparent just makes it soft and manageable but doesn't straighten. I go to partners hair design in cape town but hairdresser now comes to my house works put cheaper. Otherwise go to the salon especially the ones that work with white people mostly they're the ones who will specialize in Brazilian but make sure you work with someone who actually knows how to work with our type of hair. You don't want someone experimenting with your beautiful mane. Your hair is stunning 😍
You have beautiful and healthy hair. Your hairdresser knows how to handle natural hair. I've been natural for 9 years and don't have the guts yet to relax my hair. 💓
Try keratin treatment . I also want my hair straight but not permanent as a result am considering doing a keratin treatment it gives you straight hair but after 6months the hair eventually goes back to it's natural state
Going natural can be tiresome, for some women. Especially, if you have thick hair! So, I understand this lady's decision! Black people run going natural in the ground 😂!
The person did a great job and your hair is gorgeous♥️.i personally would not not go back to relaxers because they burn too much and i dont know how to care of it so i just grew it out and locd it up.guess you have to jus do what works for you.
I'm looking to do something different with my hair too. I have a 2 year old and a 9 month old and they keep me too busy to be fooling around with my thick, long natural hair🥴 I was thinking of cutting it into a twa but seeing your video I may try the relaxer route. I love the way your stylist put the relaxer on your ends first then went to the roots last. I've never seen this method, but it totally makes sense since there is a limited amount of time the relaxer should be on the scalp. If I go this route I hope I can find someone who is willing and able to do it right like yours. Thank you for sharing! And yes, please share tips on how to care for your relaxed hair💜
Thank you so much for stopping by, I really appreciate it!! I agree, his methodology is incredible. I’ve never had such a well managed relaxer experience and I wish this for everyone who has ever experienced relaxer anxiety. Hoping you can find someone near you if you do decide to go the relaxer route. A TWA is also quite easy to manage and you can cut and manage it yourself so both options sound great 🌸 will definitely share whatever I find useful!
@@justagirl4627 I know for me, I would love braids! But for some reason braids itch too much and I'll end up taking them out the next day. Also, my hair is almost to my butt and it is thick it'll cost so much🥴

I don’t think it’s always about not accepting one’s hair. Natural hair can actually be time consuming. Not always easily manageable. For me, natural hair is high maintenance 🤣 and not everybody has the means to have their hair done by a professional every single time hence it becomes very time consuming if you add it to other tasks. I felt bad and went natural since 2019 because of the narrative that I don’t appreciate the 4c hair that God has blessed me with 🤣 but I realized that this couldn’t be further from my truth. The reality is, I just don’t have the luxury of time to dedicate to loving on my natural hair even though I would have loved too. Now I’m going back to the perm 🤷🏽♀️☺️ if all fails, I’ll chop it off and restart all over
Still shocked i had to come see this when i saw your announcement on instagram 😂😂bathong but your hair still so beautiful and healthy 👌😍love it sis!!!!
I love that she had her own blueprint of where to put the relaxer + how long + which section AND edges at the very last moment🥹 NEVER SEEN THIS METHOD🫂🫶
For me its easy I'm hairdresser I used Rebonding cream for straightening hair and First we need to sectioning into 4 then apply the Rebonding cream in the down of hair into the top of hair soaked in 1 hour then rinse dont use conditioner or shampoo only water after that Iron the hair, it will nice and look younger hair shiny it will lasting 6months the straightening hair.
The hair dresser did do a really good job. I noticed how she started from the ends working upwards. I just relaxed my extremely nappy 4c natural hair with the ends of my hair partially done and the roots to mid length completely relaxed! 😅 I'm wondering what I'm going to do the next time I get it done...
There shouldn't even be a debate. Some like natural some like textured some like relaxed etc. To each her own. I've been natural relaxed and textured for the last three years I relaxed. It's my hair and my choice however I want it to be. How am I hurting anyone else with my hair choice?
Haha I'm 14years relaxed... Now transitioning because I'm tired of the chemicals... Everything has its limits really... Relexed hair is nice to have until your hair starts breaking and thinning out beyond repair... Although I'm among the lucky few blessed by nature with some good hair, still doesn't repel the fact that my hair is damaged after all its been through with relaxers et al. Still I wish you all the very best in this journey sister...
After seeing the instagram post I came to YT running and for reason could not find the video 😅I love this content! You have beautiful hair ❤️. Isn’t it amazing though that our hair is soo versatile 😍😍
Thinking of relaxing ny 4c hair because of lice and its the most painful thing because I cried for 1 week straight and just broke down every second when I found out I had lice, I'm literally watching your video and I'm weeping cos it's so beautiful and I've never relaxed my hair and this is just so heartbreaking for me and I just hope i find the courage to walk into a salon without crying or breaking down
@@Greyce118 What is wrong with YOU. 1. The thread is over 1 year old. 2. Clearly it CAN happen to BPeople or OP (with 4c hair) wouldn't have been considering cutting her hair off or using chemicals - assuming they didn't know what to do. I really love my curls & playing with my 4c texture that everytime I twist out my hair, it pains me in a way because I know I will miss seeing my curls for some time. - Adding relaxer to my hair at this point would not be good for me. It'd make me sad. But, I sure support my friends who love their hair relaxed. I guess they feel the same way I do about my 4c hair.

Thank you so much! I absolutely agree!!!! Relaxed hair education has come such a long way; especially the technique.
Thank you Dee-Dee! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ oh wow! Congrats!!!! I also have NO regrets hey 😂😂😂 it’s the convenience for me. Will default be sharing this and more 🌸
I didn’t see him use any comb in the video,
I would be relaxing my hair next weekend and I want to do it right
I relaxed my hair after about 10 years natural and I love it!!
So so tempted to go back to relaxers myself. I was however always prone to scalp burn and really don’t want to experience that again
Me either the stylist broke my hair off I was hurt all that hard work I put in to keep my hair healthy. So I went back natural wen Tia new stylist got a silk press and she gave me heat damage 🤦🏽♀️. So for now I’ve broken up with stylist and do my own hair lol. The stylist in this video was professional I haven’t had any luck in that department a lot of the stylist in my area are intimidated or get frustrated with thick 4c hair.
I'm natural and will always stay natural. Perms broke my hair completely off
I miss the way it feels to have a comb glide through my hair like that. Especially after a wash and condition!
The strange thing I didn’t know I missed was feeling the shape of my head 😂😂😂😂
Get it done. My favorite hair is OURS straightened. It's interesting and unique.
I'm going to use all my natural hair products up first then go back to relaxers, I've been natural(big chopped as well) for a little over 2yrs too and it's too stressful now because my hair is your length. I feel like I'm constantly detangling. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for stopping by and all the best Kayla!
Ive been natutal for over 7 years and Im tired of it too but I like that I can work out regularly without sweating out my relaxers so I'm on the fence about returning to the creamy crack.
That's massive growth in two years 😍😍
My hair is also two years and it's 22 cm long.. I'll be relaxing it in a few days
Omg wishing you all the best!
You just came up in my recommended videos. Your hair is your business. Do whatever YOU want, but I’m here to tell you that you are one GORGEOUS young lady! ♥️
Thank you so much ♥️♥️♥️
OMG, you really did it! 🔥 looks beautiful.
Yes sis! Thank you!
I would never do a relaxer again to my 4c hair. But they did a good job on yours 👍🏽
Do what makes you happy girl 💗
You have such gorgeous hair dear and l love the result, welcome to the relaxed hair journey
Thank you so much 🤗
We were blessed with our hair...we have so many choices with our hair... whether natural or processed, its all beautiful!
wish i could find a stylist like yours here in NY, the last person that did my hair was thereason i went natural because they over processed my hair so bad! Its about to be 5 years for me natural and huntyyy I AM OVER IT!! I'll prob just take my time and relax my hair myself! your hair came out beautiful!!
It was so relaxing ❤
I pray that the future generations learn to embrace their natural hair 🙏🏽 Our hair is BEAU-TI-FUL.
I somehow knew you were going miss realxed hair, I tried going natural but quickly went back to relaxed hair, it's more manageable
I never expected this at all when you said you have an announcement! Your hair still is 100
Thanks fave!!!
You so gorgeous Tshego, your hair is just wow so rich and healthy❤👌
goals, for those scared of relaxers try brazillian treatment or keratin treatment as an option. however brazillian works better on 4c hair it will give you the straightness without having to worry about the harshness that comes with relaxers.
I agree. By the way, do you have a Brazilian treatment suggestion? Thanks in advance ☺
@@cushielifestyle Thank you 😊
Thanks for this.
You have beautiful and healthy hair. Your hairdresser knows how to handle natural hair. I've been natural for 9 years and don't have the guts yet to relax my hair. 💓
Thank you so much!!! ♥️
Try keratin treatment . I also want my hair straight but not permanent as a result am considering doing a keratin treatment it gives you straight hair but after 6months the hair eventually goes back to it's natural state
@@I_love_science thanks, I'll give it a try as I don't want to put a relaxer yet x
@@I_love_sciencehairdresser here. Keratin is horrible for 4C hair.
@@lindyk42don’t do keratin
Hey! Have you tried braids? They can last 3 months and are a good low maintenance protective style.
@@justagirl4627 I know for me, I would love braids! But for some reason braids itch too much and I'll end up taking them out the next day. Also, my hair is almost to my butt and it is thick it'll cost so much🥴
Same with my 2 year old and work I was thinking on a short cut but now I want a relaxer I know with my red and peek a boo black it’s gon be fire 😍
Glad you did what makes you happy! Where are you located? I need his information so I can get a relaxer in this type of environment.
LOVE this application. He killed it! 👏👏👏 if I ever go back to relaxers, imma have to find him lol
I relaxed for 10 years and struggle with hair growth so I stop relaxing and I have been 9 years natural ( still straight hair cuz I just love it ) however, this person who style did AN AMAAAAZIIIING JOB! And if I was still getting relaxer would of wanted someone like this to do it. Ps. This video was so relaxing ✨
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
But your hair was the perfect canvas for relaxing, thick, healthy and strong! I’m natural and want to go back to relaxing but my hair is currently damaged and fine so I’m going to make one last effort and nurse it back to health but after that I’m done because I don’t have a life outside this hair 😭😭
Haha I love ur intro 😂 I recently just relaxed my hair after being natural for 5 years. I am currently 15 weeks post relaxer and you have officially tempted me to relax my hair so I can upload my results lol. But guuuurl your hair looks sooo good. Welcome to the relaxed hair club ✨✨✨
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😃♥️
Pls av been meaning to ask this question, once u relaxed ur hair is no longer natural hair rite,I was told there's a relaxer for natural hair itself
8 years natural and 2 big chops in I must say I am very tempted to relax my hair
I've noticed so many are going back to relaxing or texlax. The natural hair community can be brutal but you just do what is best for you
He did such a good job!! You’re hair looks gorgeous and full 😍😍😍
Thank you so much Shamyra
Your hair 👌🏿👌🏿Thank you for sharing this process with us.
Now I’m going back to the perm 🤷🏽♀️☺️ if all fails, I’ll chop it off and restart all over
I love how she even took care of your natural hair before relaxing it
The way he combed your hair made me nervous. Your hair looks beautiful ❤️❤️
This was so relaxing to watch. Loved it.
I say each to their own but I wept for your natural hair. It was genuinely nice
You truly cried over her natural hair?
@@GodsDaughterQ no. Welcome the internet.
Her hair looks nice but I personally would never relax my hair again.
He’s definitely a master stylist 🔥
She's pretty ❤️❤️
Still shocked i had to come see this when i saw your announcement on instagram 😂😂bathong but your hair still so beautiful and healthy 👌😍love it sis!!!!
Yeah I know... nobody could have predicted it lol... glad you like the change!
I love that she had her own blueprint of where to put the relaxer + how long + which section AND edges at the very last moment🥹
NEVER SEEN THIS METHOD🫂🫶
Your hair, Your Way!!! Beautiful!
This is my fear in relaxing all natural 4c hair. I uduslly have to cut most of thr ends off because its not relaxed properly
@@michellemalla4365 You shouldn’t have to cut the ends off unless they are damaged. Under processed hair can be corrected.
Beautiful hair , long ,healthy and strong. And your hairdresser was amazing and gentle with your hair 👍
Chilllllle that fro😍😍😍 i wish i had that density
He’s so good and leave your hair looking full and healthy.
LMAO!! The intro!
😂🤭
Amei o resultado 🌹Isso que é profissional❤
You have beautiful healthy hair ❤️ can't wait for part 2.
You made me want to relax my hair😍😋
Hahahaha that was not the intention but I am glad you enjoyed the video :)
Your hair still gorgeous ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
That’s why perms is so addicting the easy maintenance it helps with
Your hair looks amazing😍 do you mind sharing your hairdressers details, they did such an amazing job
Thank you! Unfortunately this is a salon I would not recommend :( will address it in the next video.
Your hair is soooooo BEAUTIFUL 😍
Thank you!! ♥️
Where did you have your relaxer done? It was done so beautifully 😍
Still I wish you all the very best in this journey sister...
this is so informative and relaxing to watch
After seeing the instagram post I came to YT running and for reason could not find the video 😅I love this content! You have beautiful hair ❤️. Isn’t it amazing though that our hair is soo versatile 😍😍
Awww Ntsako! Thanks so much for your consistent support and love- you make this worth it!!
That stylist blow dried her hair for its life!!!! Yaaasssss
Love the texture for sure! Worst comb to use after and before washing your hair. At least part it into smaller section.
Thinking of relaxing ny 4c hair because of lice and its the most painful thing because I cried for 1 week straight and just broke down every second when I found out I had lice, I'm literally watching your video and I'm weeping cos it's so beautiful and I've never relaxed my hair and this is just so heartbreaking for me and I just hope i find the courage to walk into a salon without crying or breaking down
It's NOT very common for BPeople to get head lice 🙄 You probably need to check your environment, personal grooming and tools
Please Treat your hair first and then your home if you haven’t already. Once every this clear you can proceed to get a consultation from a stylist.
@@beeznhoney4323It's not common but It can happen, what is wrong with you🙄🤮
@@Greyce118
What is wrong with YOU. 1. The thread is over 1 year old.
2. I already know you are not black because theres FACTS about black hair which you'd have minimal clue about so you wouldn't have written back so hostile. Plus, reREAD slowly, unlike YOU, my comment had zero hostility towards anyone.
3. I didnt say it can _never_ happen. Clearly it CAN happen to BPeople or OP (with 4c hair) wouldn't have been considering cutting her hair off or using chemicals - assuming they didn't know what to do. Again, anyone who is black KNOWS head lice is NOT as prevalent to African type hair. The various hair products we use and our coily hair type is NOT what the critters EASILY thrive in. Lice is a way more common problem to nonB hair types. NonB parents of young kids are always complaining about the school having critter "outbreaks"🦑😬
If/WHEN it happens to a black person with (coily hair) the hygiene/environment has to be very "off" for those bugs to like/live/thrive in African type hair. Now that you're informed. Bye!
Please don't tempt me! I've been natural for 2 years after years relaxed. While I enjoy learning my natural hair the convenience of relaxed is drawing me in! 😳
Tell me about it
😳 I was never expecting that ey ❤️🥰but you look gorgeous ❤️ saw your reel on instagram
Thank you so much and thanks for stopping by :)
I'm going to miss your natural hair content 💔
The hair stylist was whipping that round brush! 😂😂
Relaxing my hair is out of the question for me. My hair grows way too fast for me to be wasting my time and money like that again.
Started keeping natural hair in 2012, in 2019 I chopped it all. Now my hair is 4 years old and I'm thinking of relaxing it coz I've an infant and to take care of my baby (hair lol) and infant is a big deal for me. Both need my attention of which definitely my hair is not getting much. I'm done!
Yeah, I think its important for people to do what works for them :)
Relax my hair yesterday after 8 years I'm happy 😊
That’s so wonderful to hear!
Gorgeous either way! Thoroughly enjoyed 😍
Thank you beautiful ♥️♥️♥️♥️
You are VERY BRAVE... i can NEVER NEVER NEVER, i say NEVER relax my hair.....
Your hair is beautiful. 😩All that growth for 2 years? Just wow
Thank you so much ❤️
My hair. My choice. Natural or relaxed.🇨🇦
I would be crying at the same time BECAUSE I have very sensitive scalp. There is no way you can untwist, part, or push product in my hair with out Vaseline. Yes, Vaseline every part of my scalp and base of my head.
You can use dark and lovely for kids. It's good for sensitive scalp
i had to subscribe,i love the hair j
So stunning and glossy.
I have attempted to relax my hair for like 5th times this year but every time I sit on that chair and my my Afro in the mirror I change my mind like I can’t let go of my big hair no
