My guess on the brand of the head is diesel cast, as far as I know they are the only ones who include the purple straps. Got about 20 of them around the shop
Joshua, look up your block salvage repair guide. You'll find that the water director ports in the block have been repaired with inserts. In your video you can see the line of sealant used out below them in the galley. Aparently the Reman facility failed to deck the block after they were installed. I had one apart a year ago that had deck inserts installed wrong, and they settled and caused the liners to drop, blowing head gasket.

That thick blue cosmoline really is a pain in the butt. Big plus side in using aftermarket heads. I have been given CAT reman heads before which only had oil on them instead of that thick blue stuff

I had C12 with piston skirt come apart. Most of liner, piston and part of block in oil pan what a mess. C9 where rod damn near cut block in 1/2. Broke oil pan, oil pan rails, oil cooler off, block on both side almost to block deck and power steering pump knocked off
Thanks for the knowledge that you provide. Question ❓ What's the difference between a 3406 cat generator fuel pump and a 3406 cat highway engine fuel pump? Thank you again for the time to answer the question.

@@jaydunbar7538 that's crazy. I unframed my 60 series Detroit myself for about 4k. Head was gone over and I reused my pistons. I have overhauled entire engines on farm equipment for 10k max.
@@plowboy7700 But your not figuring in labor and the fact that you reused a bunch of parts. A friend of mine blew up his cummins. International quoted him 32k. That included a reman head, injectors turbo. New cylinder packs and oil pump.
This job was probably around 30k. It is just an inframe with what seemed like not tons of extra parts. He mentioned the same injectors. No new radiator, turbo, oil pump, cam etc. Could go up to 50k with random parts added in. Parts are expensive, labor is expensive, both can add up quick.
