Hi ma, wanna meet my girl?
Many Australian homes have these birds in their yards. Sometimes they arrive with hundreds of their friends when food is about. They are most spectacular (and noisy) at sunset when they squabble over the best spot to sleep in the palm trees. They are friendly and will adopt you if you are kind and generous. I’m an Aussie but I’m still in awe at the miracle of nature.
I got a bunch of them at my balcony, I always leave some sunflower seeds and fresh water…but they are very hesitant (but I got a couple who aren’t afraid of being close to me). How to not make them afraid of me? Ps: I got a cockatoo visit last week!
@@Fernando_Sabino - How special for you 😊

Alexis Grunden Cute : ))
Some animals will introduce their friends to humans they like. Cats have been known to do that, dogs to. Cats, if they see another cat they know likes you, they are more likely t give you a chance. My two neighbors each have a cat. The first is a sweet girl cat named shady and the other is a cautious male namde max. Shady gets mad if you don't stop and say hi, max is more anti-social and generally runs from people, even if he's met them before. If they are out together he's more likely to let you approach. He'll see Shady get affection, then he might let you pet him briefly before leaving.
These videos are SO IMPORTANT to help people love animals! Thank you Dodo!
I must say I am able to love animals without a video. I do not know many people who hate on birds. So silly. Odd way to feel about humans. You think they need to be taught to love. Seems to be a modern day notion. People bad animals good.
@@veronicajean3612

It might have been an escaped pet
@@starseed96 no. This is Australia
The lorikeet is native there. They're everywhere. They're quite docile birds which is why he's so friendly. Besides, most wild birds can recognize that they can benefit from being around humans, like free food and shelter when they aren't feeling well. Birds are incredibly intelligent. Even wild cockatoos can solve puzzles for rewards.
Chaz nonsense lol.
starseed96 pretty well certainly.
......they do become familiar and friendly pretty fast . Not sure if due to generations of exposure to humans feeding them or their natural innate character. The cockatoos are a bit more skittish but there are personality differences . The ones I have who come into my shed and garage are the Rosellas and king parrots ,they're closely related to the rainbow lorrikeets .The rainbow lorrikeets tend to hang out 1½ ks away from my place same as the Corella's ; not sure why . Those of us who feed birds do notice the changes in bird sightings and habitat shift caused by climate change.
Just imagining when she becomes elderly and the bird still comes to visit her on her balcony with his girlfriend and their babies and they all come and perch on her shoulder 😭😭
Lorikeets live 10-20 years.
As Hory Shet said, they aren't long lived like larger parrots can be. The lady won't be elderly by the time Elvis has passed on. She will still likely have a bunch of lorikeets visiting her though as the flock has somewhat adjusted to visiting which will probably be behaviour that gets learned by the following generations.
She'll be visited by the kids. And Grandkids.

HI, I live in the outer suburbs of Sydney. Being a bird lover and having many birds my son bought me a female rainbow lorikeet for my fortieth birthday whom I called Crystal ( I was 78 years old last October ) and she sits on shoulder, walks around every where in the house and is not bothered by our three cats or small dog, mimics their meowing at feed time, barks like the dog, makes the same ring tone of our mobile phones. I also have a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo called Charlie (50 years old), my very old canary died two weeks ago she would have been twenty five years old at the the next month (March) I got her as a baby chic just before Easter 1996. She was supposed to be a male but being a female she never whistled but she would chirp a greeting every time she saw me and would sit on my finger while I cleaned her cage and was never worried about or by the cats.

This is SO adorable and she did exactly the right thing!!! I suspect, having kept birds, that when he first came to her he was newly "out of the nest". He had pinfeathers on his head and around his eyes. I think he may have flown off and didn't have the stamina yet. Parrots are extremely social and crave connection to others. He may have been fearful being alone, and attached himself to the first living being he saw and sought comfort and protection. Some instincts are very very strong! (Either that, or he was a tame, escaped pet lol) but I'm super glad he found her! She did everything right for this sweet boy. This makes me smile so much!
My mom was outside watering her plants and a cockatiel started screaming at her from our roof, now this is south Texas, not somewhere you find wild cockatiels, which ultimately makes sense for a few obvious reasons but none more than the fact that this was no wild bird, after a little coaxing this beautiful little bird flew down and landed right on her shoulder, she had certainly gotten out of whomevers cage that owned her and had been loose for quite some time as she was very skinny, to make a longer story short, we could not find her owner and she became a part of our family for 8 long years, and oh my did she love redheads!

For those interested about this particular species, they are commonly referred to as rainbow lorikeets and this video was apparently filmed in New South Wales or on the Gold Coast which is in Queensland, the state on the North Eastern tip of Australia. These rainbow lorikeets are found in every state and territory in Australia (as well as in Indonesia, Timor, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuata, New Caledonia as well as small populations stemming from aviary population in New Zealand and in the most western city of Australia, Perth) but they are most common to the eastern states of Australia Australia, namely the real coastal regions but they can also be found a fair way inland too (up to approx. 200 kilometres inland in both Victoria and New South Wales and up to approx. 300 kilometres inland in in the North of Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland).
Thanks so very much for the information on the Lorikeets. I was unaware of some of those, particularly their distribution on the Continent ! ❤
And Indonesias birds are all threatened or endangered and in much lower numbers and are on their way out meanwhile oz has them in their millions.
@@randomdude4669 that's so sad for Indonesia 😓 While in Australia we aren't facing the same pace of habit loss (particularly percentage wise, for the amount cleared compared to the size as Indonesia's total land mass, where I hear that much of the deforestation is due to illegal logging), we are still losing a large amount of habit on a daily basis, much due to deforestation, and currently that and climate change are responsible for over 1,750 Australian animal species currently being listed as endangered.
It's a sad and sorry world we're living in, where we as a species are driving down not just the number of wild animals on the planet, but driving up the number of endangered and exciting species with alarming consistency 😓😓😓

aramere3650 I must have misread the title
Where does she live!? To have such colorful birds flying around your backyard like it's nothing is crazy. They're so beautiful
ThePopushi Gold Coast in Australia
And then his mom said 3:36
End3rDog of course it needs to be australia hahahaha
Idk if you have seen this documentary yet but I highly suggest it, its called "The Birds of Telegraph Hill" Its about a flock of parrots that were hanging out in San Francisco and they basically befriended a human who is a character himelf!! Definately check it out, watching this video reminded me of it.🤗
Most probably australia
How blessed you are to have these beautiful birds in your country. So beautiful.
she's so sweet. i dont think many ppl would let a bird sleep on their chest for 2 hours like that lol no wonder she earned their love
Elvis has to have been someones pet who lost his way...
Im glad he found you 🤙❤
Darrell Clark Did you watch the entire video? I thought that same thing at first, but after seeing that there are many of those birds where she lives, I realized he really was a wild bird. He actually brought his “friends” and “girlfriend” back to visit Bee and they all went in her house with him. It’s amazing!❤️🧡💛💚💙🤍🖤
I was thinking the same thing. I'm convinced that he must have been. So so CUTE!!

Yes! What a dynamic relationship.
@BossBitches Australia Ask Dodo? See if there's contact details in the pull down. Though tbh, it's going to be hard to tell as they're pretty much the same. Sorry you lost your bird, mate. At least he's probably among a whole bunch of friends if that helps?
BossBitches Australia the video mentions an Instagram account.
This lady is full Disney princess.
Isnt he just a handsome boi hes beautiful and this lovely lady is a beautiful soul and these animals are intelligent enough to clock a good save person.❤
It's amazing how sometime animals/birds shows emotions of love that humans fails to show in all the circumstances. I have watched many scenarios where birds/humans kept coming just to meet once a month or once a year. Will humans do that I hardly think so.
God : How many colours do you want ?
Birb : Yes
Jai ShriRam 😂
I saw a vid on penguins, how the traded flying for swimming lol
Good one!
God is good
The best part was that he came to her with no coercion, and stayed on his own free will too. Spent enough time outside to not become reliant/ completely domesticated. Doing his own thing in the wild, and coming back to visit regularly.
The cutest part ever is where he brought his girlfriend back to meet mom!
This would be paradise for me. So beautiful and rewarding.
Awww he had so much trust in her, he knew she was a friend. I can’t believe a wild animal had so much trust in someone so quick, but I guess that’s probably cuz the first time they met he was in a life or death situation
What if he was a escaped bird from another owner? I find it hard to believe a wild bird would do that
@@brave385 what about other birds?? Lol
Yeah probably some bird hunter
Definitely an escaped pet. Rainbow lorikeets are the most commonly kept exotic pet in Australia, and they're also native to Australia. Pet escapes, and a wild flock accepts him. He trusts humans because of his past experience with them (when they "escape" it's usually less "escape" and more "went exploring, got lost, couldn't find way home"). The other birds, especially his bond mate (wife) (most parrot species pair bond and mate for life, 99% sure rainbow lorikeets do) trust him because he's one of their flock, so if he thinks the humans aren't dangerous, then we'll trust his judgment. Highly, highly intelligent animals. And highly social as well. It's a moral atrocity that so many people keep them in cages as decorations just because they're beautiful. And the rest of us (bird owners) get judged for those shitheads. :(
The first thing that came to my mind was "escaped/dumped pet" too.
Bee: "Sorry, boss, I can't make it in today."
Boss: "Somebody better have died."
Bee: "A wild lorikeet is asleep on my chest."
Boss: "Understandable, have a nice day."
Nice one
That was so beautiful. I cried happy tears. You guys got a mutual understanding and love. You allowed him to come and go as he pleased, giving him access into your life with love. And he showed his world, allowed you meet to his friends and then girlfriend with love. 💕
I planted Australian Natives with lovely blossoms just to attract these gorgeous birds. I don't have a day without them in my backyard...and they love sunflower seeds.
It's crazy that this is a wild animal though, like he just straight up flew down to her like she was his savior and just stuck around.
Yeah he probably had a hawk or some kind of bird of prey after him but so glad he got away.
Lucky escape for little dude here... Hawks usually have dead eye precision when they hunt.
Im glad he had a human friend to make hime feel safe after healing
More likely a cat.
This is by far the best episode yet! I come back here and there when I need a boost of good vibe.
OMG, this is so heart-warming. Rainbow lorikeet is the most colorful bird I've ever seen. They are just so beautiful (and loud, when you see a whole tree loaded by them )
My lord... Him coming to her for safety and comfort, to rest and recover, just broke my heart and pieced it back together. Such a beautiful relationship! Massive kudos to Bee for not caging him and forcing him to be a housepet!
You are blessed...what a beautiful bird.
