I just love the fact that EVERYONE in the family is so invested in those birds. It’s not like it was only the girl who wanted to make sure the bird was okay, everyone seemed to be so invested, it was so sweet
I love how soon as that husband came home he just started making bulk calls, no wonder he's married
Honestly, I cried a little once I realized the magical connection that this family had with other living creatures in their environment.
That's how we are supposed to live on this planet.
That's probably the best video I'll see all year thank you much for sharing with us
This is seriously the sweetest family, I’m sending them sooooo much love!! And the original rescuer/vet who was remarkably dismissive of a family that was clearly concerned and distraught can just…well, this seems like a “Family” channel, so use your imaginations. lol
@@magnumopus1628 I agree, but sadly not a lot of people don’t care nor respect for animals.
I worked for a vet's office and we would gladly let the rehab people know that the rescuers would like an update and gave them their information so they could call and update them. We were so grateful for those who take the time to rescue animals that we would never talk to them the way this vet's office did.
Agree.
I know! I was very frustrated by that. I can understand not giving out someone’s contact info, but take the 2min to call the contact and give them the girls #. How hard is that? I wouldn’t want anyone lacking compassion/empathy handling my babies.
I was so happy for this ending though! What an amazing family! You are all such incredible people!
As a rehabber, I am ALWAYS happy to share updates. It makes me crazy when other rehabbers and facilities won’t do that. I can understand that it’s hard during “baby season” when you don’t have the necessary help available, but even then, it can be done if you think outside the box. And in the end, the people willing to help critters are ALSO those willing to donate money and supplies and volunteer time, so it only makes sense!
Thank you! I was really upset how they treated them! How hard could it have been to pass that info when he picked up the bird?
That makes me feel so much better. No offense or anything but ‘confidential’ give me a break it’s an animal not a human. HIPPA doesn’t apply to them lol.
Dad osprey: “ where have you been”
Mama osprey: “ you see I was abducted by aliens”
😁
🤣😂
So you see, I was not in the bar and drinking I was attacked
Seems more like daddy: so... I lost the babies... I turned on highest quality and zoomed in at the end, no babies to be seen
Lol this is exactly how I imagined their convo went
And can we take a moment to appreciate that rehabilitater, what a gem of a man!!
The idea that there's someone around the corner who will fix your osprey, and deliver, like it's pizza. Remarkable.
she got saved by Santa (that is something remarkable for an osprey i think
👌
Considering Osprey mate for life, refusing to give this family any information about the mama was particularly cruel of the vet's office.
Thank God the foster home understood the importance of getting her back home!

The vet wouldn't even ask the rehabber if he wanted the information to be given out... also the fact he is on FB and sharing live videos of the rehab means he is willing to share - the vet could've given out that information. truly disgusting. Also the fact the rehabber was willing to release it back at the nest is really amazing.
Osprey's, like a lot of birds, mate for life so it was in her best interest to be released back to home territory. So glad this had a happy ending!
@@fairygoth-mother7341 I didn't know that! I also can't believe the vet didn't ask the guy if he wouldn't mind giving his info out. Just crazy. Glad the story had a happy ending! 💚
**YOU GOT THAT RIGHT, MY FRIEND!!
That vet was an idiot, also so dense.
Give me your address please
"We cant give out rehabbers personal info" Meanwhile guy has a publicly available FB and they just randomly found him by phone
it's not even personal info if it's their fucking business email or phone number, that's public information obviously accessible with GOOGLE bc the family found it anyways 😭😭😭
Seriously, he didn’t really seem concerned about his info being open to the public.
Right?!? What is so sad is that Mr. White wanted all of the information received from the family. Had the family not contacted him he would’ve never known. He would not have known she had babies in a nest and a husband waiting on her safe return. Mama would have just been let loose.
It STILL takes away the liability from the video maker and forces YOU to make an extra effort to find the guy, which WOULD be used in court as proof of intent if you had nefarious ideas.
It's not my fault if suing and stalking are two of America's favorite National sports. It makes EVERYONE get wary and protective, and it makes a lot of lawyers RICH...
@@TheJimprez I think your comment was meant for another story?
I’ve been a vet tech for 14 years. And in a situation like this, I would never ever not let the rescuers know where the mama is. Especially when there are babies involved. And when the male is crying for days on end with no help. Even though the name of the hospital is blurred out: The people in this state know where it is. SHAME! They brought it to them. It’s not an underground crack den!!
i found a baby fox and got updates from the " ANIMAL VET PLACE, for a month i believe till he grew and got released i cried of joy
I would have thought it would be important to them to keep in touch with the rescuers, as that momma would have needed to be returned to where she was found. Rehabbed animals are usually returned to their home areas unless there is a reason they need to be relocated.
That family is so wonderful, Tommy is wonderful, that vet office needs to be informed on the importance of getting animals back to where they live. I'll bet Tommy was relieved to hear from the family.
Yeah, that policy doesn't make sense to me. The family had legit concern as well as the collateral information to substantiate why they should be looped into the release plans.
Yeah ! Nonsense dumbos.
SHAME on them.
Heartless zombies.
Some people like to have their privacy. They can't just be giving out peoples' information. I don't know why you can't understand that.
Vet: We can't give out his information without his consent.
Me: So could you please call and _ask_ him for it?
hahahahahahah!! right!
And not only would the rehabilitator have readily given his consent to give updates, he was more than willing to drive all the way down to MEET the family. So...... vet people, please don't say no for the sake of saying no.
Also he was publicly posting updates about the bird! They couldn’t have given them his Facebook page??? What a-holes!
Or give him her info
Yes! So simple, would've helped everyone involved. But, rules... 🙄
I would like to say thank you to the kind people who saved this bird.

There is no reason for the vet’s dismissive attitude towards these wonderful, caring people who saved this bird. Thank God they stumbled upon the guy who was actually rehabilitating the bird. This story was so heartwarming! Well, everything except for the way the vet treated them.
Completely dismissive and reminds me of how I was treated at several dentists' offices: thought it was part of the student discount.
@@meganesergerie5382 - God bless you for trying to save that owl…❤️
Whereas the lack of *any* information was a bit untoward, I absolutely understand the need to keep the rehabber's personal information (including contact info) confidential. If I surrender my time and effort to rehab animals, ESPECIALLY something as time intensive as a wild bird, it would be very upsetting to have my personal number or email given to random people. Personally, I wouldn't be okay with taking a random call when I signed up to rehab the bird, not run PR.
@@meganesergerie5382 Not sure where you got the idea that I'm attacking you personally tbh. What I'm saying is:
A) the vet doesn't know where the bird is going to be placed after treatment as soon as they come in (The rescuers themselves had to call multiple public rehab facilities, and there would be multiple private individuals also working in that field)
B) Not everyone likes having their contact information handed out to people they've never met
C) We watched a less than 5-minute interaction between a vet tech and the people who brought in a very injured bird, and from that people are deciding this vet tech/office are clearly heartless. Which is a hell of a leap.
Wildlife vets and rehabbers have privacy rules just like anyone else. I get that people want updates, but it's not your pet.
@@fevre_dream8542 you keep commenting this, but NO ONE wanted the vet to "hand out" the number. All they had to do was call the rehabber themselves (who they did know, because they handed the bird off to him) and explain the situation, then give him THEIR number and he could make the choice. He clearly would have reached out, because as soon as they called he chose to answer and continue to communicate. So the vets didn't even try to connect the two, even though that NEVER meant handing out his phone number to strangers. Get it?
Those vets are ridiculous!!!
I adore this family, they genuinely care and love these animals. What wonderful people 🥰
Alot of vets are like that sadly... Really short, curt, and sometimes really rude. In my state, we have a Tier One and its an ER vet clinic, and its like the white-rich person clinic. They will treat you like less than them, charge you ridiculous amounts for treatments, and make you feel like you dont belong there.
On 2 instances they were cold hearted to my animals and I couldnt do a damn thing because they needed to get treated.
@@deathberryjam907 that's so annoying. it makes me feel so lucky that our vet's office is really close to our house and the woman who runs it is really nice and friends with my mom. I just wish more clinics operated with more politeness like mine.
@DeathberryJam yeah those vets be doing it for the $$ I swear
I feel like the least the vet's office could've done is pass on the family's contact info to the rehabber, who could then reach out to the family if he wanted to. Minimal additional effort and would have made everyone happy without violating anyone's privacy.

I rescued a baby squirrel and handfed him until we could find a rehabber during covid lockdown. The rehabber called me several times over the next week to update me. I had bonded with that precious baby and she respected that. A true hero!
Rescuing animals is awesome, even if you can't stay together. If you can't keep them forever, you'll love them even more bc you know you only have so much time. I honestly wish I could foster pets and rescue animals, but we have too many pets and I get attached easily. I am very happy for you ;)
What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing this.
I recused a baby finch last spring and rehab of her was just as hard as being a new mom to my own babies.
The small bird rescue in my area said she would take her, but finches are hard and with having 100+ birds she probably wouldn't make it.
Well I am never one to shy away from a challenge so she stayed in my care the next month. Even after I released her she would come back to me for food until she got the hunting thing down well enough to feed herself sufficiently.
My little Florence the Finch❤
OMG I rescued a baby squirrel as well a few months ago. I still get updates from the rehabber and he will be released in the Spring. I named him Wakanda and I can't wait to watch him go wild. The vets and shelters in NYC wanted nothing to do with him since he wasn't a dog or cat. They just wanted me to leave him there over night and he wouldn't have survived. He definitely would've been killed.
The vets could have asked Tommy whites permission to be contacted or given him the families contact details so he could decide to give them updates to let them know how things were going. Rules and data protection are there to protect people i know, but that was a little short sighted and unnecessary. But more importantly.... what fantastic, caring and talented caregivers and a happy outcome 😍
Right, that’s what I thought too. The family was so concerned and they were not very helpful by dismissing them like that!
This was kind of weird as well because where I live you are able to call rehabbers directly if you know of an animal that is in need so I’m confused. If he’s a registered rehabber by the department of wildlife or agriculture I would think they would at least be able to give you the business name with a number that you could call or email? I mean he had a business Facebook page for Christ sake. That vet is doing a real disservice. I get the intention is good, but no one needs his personal information just his business information.
@@Missyou-. ikr it's like it's a big secret lol it's a bird, dude 🤣

So wonderful for the osprey family. Also, those who cared enough to want to help her. Thinking Daddy osprey and babies are truly blessed. By all who were involved and their acts of kindness. ♥️
Topping it all off, the momma osprey successfully protected her babies and survived. It's like a Disney movie without the tragedy part.

A beautiful touching story. Thank you for sharing this...
I know! I cried at the happy ending, and I'm not a crier.
The Dad calling to Mama... those adorable babies... the family getting reunited... I will focus on the wonderful outcome.
Dad says “Whew!!!....being a mama is tough!!” This family is to be highly commended for being so caring compassionate and diligent. This was so amazing. What a worthwhile story to see. I loved this. The vet was so rude to say, “We can’t give out that information.” How in the world does she think the bird got there in the first place? Such a great ending despite her refusal to help any further.
;w; most people don't come this far down into the comments but I care enough about other people and their opinions to support them ;>
Yes I agree with the original poster... but you know what?
this family is so loving, warm, and caring I think all the compensation that they ever wanted or needed was when that Mama came back to the nest with her babies and her mate...The End
You would think the vet would have understood the need to reunite her with her babies.and her mate and the only way that would have been possible is for the rescuers and the rehab specialist to communicate. It does not make sense. There are no.HIPPA laws for wildlife...
Some people just don't have the heart for critters. I feel they are just as important and have a right to a happy life as humans. We need to do all we can to see they are cared for.
i imagine theyre not legally allowed to do so
Not sure how many people would have reacted so quickly for a bird, but I'm so glad this family did.
One of the best videos I've seen.
I totally agree. It warms my heart. ❤️
We've helped several hurt animals including a hawk. Most people run over them or drive by them having no regard for life.
This sounds like a case of those vet techs being like, "I'm just here to get a paycheck and you're asking me to do more than what I'm being paid to do so I'll just give you a runaround excuse." The rehabilitator operates a business. They're not asking for his social security number. You can, at the very least, provide his business info.
i want to be a vet tech, so that was just disgusting to me...
Exactly, they were just being lazy. They didn't want go bother letting these wonderful people know how the bird was doing
welcome to 80% of the human race.
if any above-and-beyond energy is expended, it's usually seems to be prompted by negative, inappropriately judgy emotional impetus (towards other individuals) or avarice.
i always try to imagine how we might help to change the game... just little steps like calling regional corporate headquarters to leave positive feedback for the especially beneficent people, rather than exclusively reporting complaints that further another type of progression, etc. it would be so cool for the more caring/loving/empathetic individuals to start ruling things :D
(i'm aware my comment is wacky. if you don't understand the connection between my comment and the op or if it seems trite, sorry for wasting your time)
Basically this it it
It VERY much depends. I can absolutely understand the vet techs defaulting to refusing to give out someone's personal information (ESPECIALLY if there were multiple rehabbers and they didn't know which would take the bird), and would appreciate it if I was rehabbing the bird. A rehabber has NO obligation to play personal relations when they signed up to heal animals, and it drives a lot of people away from volunteering. I would be very upset to receive random calls because I volunteered for a position and they just gave out my number.
This rehabber owns a business. Not all do.
43 year old man here. Not ashamed that this made me cry.
So happy to see good things from good people.
I hate when vets and wildlife employees act like that they don’t care about rescuers’s concern don’t understand that we wanted to know what happened to them. Thank God this family found mama.
I mean, if I sacrifice my time and effort to rehab something as intense as a wild bird, I honestly don't want to be getting multiple unsolicited calls regarding its condition from someone I don't know. It's invasive. If the info is passed on to me and I decide to reach out then fine, but unsolicited contact isn't okay.
In this case, the rehabber ran an actual business and was okay with it. That isn't always the case, and I would be very upset if my info was given away to whoever asked by the agency I volunteer for.
@@fevre_dream8542 It isn't all about you.
@@travismurell5228
I never said it was, I was offering an example of why this policy was in place. After looking through some veterinary law further, the policy only makes more sense.
Vets are prohibited from sharing patient information with anyone but the owner of the animal and those the owner gives explicit permission. This animal is wild, the people who rescued it do not own it and therefore are excluded under this law. Such information includes the condition and prognosis of the bird as well as the bird's final disposition. Similarly, it is legally questionable at best to give out the information of those who rescued the bird to anybody, including the rehabber, also because they are not the owner.
People keep lambasting these vets for doing their actual job (saving the bird) and protecting the privacy of all parties, which is what they're SUPPOSED to do.
@@fevre_dream8542 Look, if you work with wildlife and devote your time to helping animals, I commend you for it. But wild or not, if someone rescues an animal, I think it's cruel to cut them out of the process. Granted, you shouldn't have to give them hourly updates or anything, but I certainly wouldn't be okay with rescuing an animal and being emotionally invested and then basically told "too bad, your part is over, you'll never know what happened to them." That's not okay.
The vets should at the very least put the rescuers in contact with the rehabber by passing on their information so that the rehabber can send them an email to let them know what's going on. I don't think anyone's saying it would be okay for a rescuer to call over and over and bother the rehabber but they definitely deserve to be kept in the loop. And, for example, in this case it was important for the rehabber to know that his patient had babies and a mate waiting, and their exact location, so that the bird wasn't just shipped off to god knows where and never reunited with its family. IMO the rehabber should always reach out to the rescuers to just tell them "hey this is what's happening, no need to check in, I'll update you when there's something worth knowing" and let them pass on any relevant information they may have as well. It takes minimal time and can make a world of difference to both the rescuers and the patient.
@@FreckledDragons right it's not just about the rehabber but about the rescuer and the rescued too

I volunteer at a wild bird rehabilitation. Often times we have to send birds to other locations (sometimes private homes) to give an animal more specialized care. I’m assuming this gentleman is offering care within his private home. The safety issue is that theft is a real possibility. I would have taken the phone numbers of the ladies who rescued that beautiful girl, and given it to the rehabilitator so he could contact them. I’m just glad this story had a happy ending.
@J Anda Just because that rehabber doesn't care about visibility and safety doesn't mean others don't. If they give out contact info without someone's permission, that could bite them in the ass. This isn't a pet; it's a wild animal -- regardless of how the family feels about them. And while it's admirable that they took action to get the bird help, they were kind of being Karens in their tone with the vet. The vet told them their policy and they kept pushing.

Reminds me of when my outside cats got picked up and the rescuers gave us no information or updates. We were very attached to one that had just given birth and wanted to see where she went. It upset us a lot. Half a year later we find her in the pet shop skinny and freezing (it was winter). We quickly adopted her and she was infested with worms! It’s been over a year now and she’s happy and healthy. Her name is mittens and she likes to “hunt” for toys in the middle of the night and scream at us when she “catches” one. Also she’s a “happy drooler” and loves cuddling. I’m still upset about the whole situation but I’m just glad she’s back with us now.
I'm sad and angry at the whole situation. The rescuer you had gave no updates. Was the cat inside the pet shop or outside? Either way, I think that the 'rescuer' may have abandoned the poor cat. But also ;w;
I have a drooler also 🥰
That's awful. A lot of these vets and rescuers seem to have no empathy for animals when that is literally their job
This is why cats belong indoors.
Eh, I have outdoor cats. We also don't put collars on them cuz our older cat keeps losing them(somehow). We know they'll always come back cuz they can't live without their cuddles and food.

Absolutely! But unfortunately common sense and an easy answer can be very challenging for those who are so heavily indoctrinated. They can't think for themselves.
So good that dedicated humans did their very best and got the family back together. Never underestimate Nature. And don't underestimate the need to help them. YAY
i mean they weren't just obsessive weirdos over a stray wild animal, they repeatedly said her fledglings were at risk of starvation... what was the office's problem with calling the rehabber (that they called to pick up the mama) a second time?
yeah, thats just heartbreaking that they had no empathy. glad everything turned out alright though
They're just there to get a paycheck and finding the info for the rehabilitator was more effort than their salary required.
Exactly. Attitude is everything, and their’s sucked !
They are still weirdos
Maybe the rehabbers don't want their names released so they don't end up with unwanted public attention while they're trying to take care of the birds. They're likely providing their services as volunteers and don't have much time for chit chat.
The vet office's continuous "official response" is certainly a let down. People like that makes this world a cold and often-stupid-rule-based place. Thank God there are also people like the caring family in the video!

The vet’s office employees should have seen the genuine concern the rescuers had for the Osprey’s condition, not to mention the fact that she had babies waiting for her and without putting them in touch with the rehab facility, they would have no idea where to release her so she could continue to care for the chicks. I would have totally bent the rules in this case and all they had to do was pass along the rescuer’s contact info. Pretty uncaring IMHO but so glad it all worked out thanks to their perseverance!
I get what you're saying, but bending the rules of HIPAA is a first class ticked to being sued out of existence for any medical professional. There is a reason these laws are in place. If they bend the rules for this, what's to stop them from giving your info to some rando just cuz they asked?
@@JessKalinow As I said, if their privacy rules prevented disclosing the rehab facility’s info, the vet’s office could have at least passed along the contact info for the people who rescued the osprey. And at any rate, this is a vet’s office we are talking about; not a high security psychiatric facility or something. Most vet’s offices would be thrilled to see what these people did.
@@JessKalinow
That doesn't excuse how dismissive they where of the family, and could of just said 'Okay let me write down your contact info and in in contact with them and pass it to them with your consent.'
I Eric S. What is your middle initial?
@@JessKalinow hipaa is for HUMANS. Not animals. Wtf.
The compassion and dedication showed by this family and rehabber are beyond commendable.
Unlike that rediculous so called vet.
Veterinarian offices and staffs can be the best thing ever. Consequently they can also be some of the worst places and experiences just alike. If you find a good one stick with them!
In my country, animals are treated less than garbage, so it's very hard to find good vets. I won't own a pet untill I move to a better place...
I have had some bad vet experiences (about 4 or 5). The last one was we were feeding a cat totally rejected by the neighbourhood and I think he had been living outside for years. It was so sad. He would only come in occasionally but was scared. I used to make him beds inside. He got sick and people next door terrified him with fireworks and he had a stroke.
I knew I had to have him put down and I needed to be with him. He only trusted me. The vet said no you can't come because he may belong to someone. So I was forced to contact spca and I couldn't go back miles to their base with the guy as I had no way home so I had to cage the poor kitty and they took him away to be put down. I still shed tears over it and was sobbing when they took him away. They put him down fast and my husband and I drove a long way to the city to fetch his body and bury him here with some dignity. (Our place is a pet cemetery)!
Stupid vets I could have comforted him at the end.
I'm still sad.
@@nessie968 Oh, that is so sad. Where are you?

Ugly like the vet's office ?
@@stunnedmulletblah9714 yes.
There are a couple newspapers whose theme is good news only. I stopped watching the news bc of what you said, stories like this one always get pushed aside. It's a shame, there's a lot of good people

turn the news off for good and just focus on good stuff, you'll live a much happier life
A truly bizarre response from the vets ! One wonders if they are in the right profession with their profound lack of care & compassion.
Very glad it turned out OK in the end . Well done to everyone.
I've seen far too many vets that care more about maximizing profit than actually caring for animals. This vet wanted to avoid getting cut out and stay as a middleman (even though the rehabber was in a public list of rehabbers).
Many doctors are like that:
You have cancer and the most 3 months to live..next.
Well done to everyone indeed- except the vet office!!!!
You people are insane. The vets were completely right.
@@kenmack Why? What is there to gain from not releasing the name of the local raptor rehabilitator?
So wonderful to see. The Ospreys are part of their family and that was clearly obvious. Their determination to ensure their family stayed intact got them past the obstacles thrown up by that particular vet and whatever illogical policy they had in place. Magic
It really concerns me that the vets weren’t even bothered about reuniting her with her babies/family especially considering Ospreys tend to mate for life!! Their policies are just nonsense, exactly what details are they protecting - all they had to do was pass on their details to the rehabber- I mean was the rehabber even told mom had babies waiting!! Argh made me so mad. So glad the family didn’t give up and wow what a happy ending 🙏🥰

Sally, I completely agree!! That was infuriating, and considering the people at the vet have dedicated their lives to taking care of animals, you'd think that they would at least ACT like they care. Their tone was so flat and borderline rude. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but thank goodness this wonderful family persevered!!
The rehabber literally did stuff live. They could have freaking asked him like oh my God.
@@malloryg4251 Probably rude because it's a pro bono case.

Such an awesome and heartwarming story, and yes I cried, allot!😀😀
I guess it's best to call a wildlife rehabber/center instead. So sweet to see them back together.
I wish everyone except for the “vets” who didn’t release very basic information about the osprey, despite the family showing they clearly cared for it and the rehab man who helped it was also WILLING to release information, a very good day
I cried my eyes out when the mom started crying. I'm so glad this story had a happy ending. To this family, your guys are awesome, seriously you rock!!!😊❤
OMG I'm crying. This "people" family was a true hero in what they did for this "bird" family. I'm touched.
Are you implying that this family is not human and the osprey is not a bird ?

Bloody hell, I’m watching this on the bus trying not to cry. What a beautiful story.
Haha!
What a fabulous ending. Enough to bring a tear to your eye.
i droped a tear or two
Why would they not provide an update? Is there something “classified” about a wild bird’s well-being? How on Earth is that sensitive or confidential information?
America man
I was so confused as well, as a human to another human why would it be so hard giving updates and information. It was very American how it was all played out
This Osprey is a well respected member of the community and if this gets out this could spell certain doom for the small group of rebels trying to restore freedom to the Galaxy.
@Nic Bai seriously! Wtf?!? Did the bird have the nuclear codes or something?
The person likely assumed the worst, that the injury was caused by humans. Of course that person didn't say as much to the rescuer. Thank goodness the family was persistent and everyone involved provided such marvelous care.
I'm so glad momma healed quick enough to get back to her babies and dad. Thank you to her guardian angels for rescuing her and getting her help. Happy endings are always a good thing.
This was surprisingly dramatic and heartwarming. I'd watch a movie about Mama Osprey :)
And then the sequel about the fish that was attacked by a hunting Osprey and only just made it through with the strength and assistance of the diving busy bodies.
"Hey hon, what happened to you, where did you go?"
"Bob, you won't BELIEVE what happened to me!"
"Yeah, that bully eagle down the block attacked me. But staay calm, I don't need you going all Rambo on him and you getting YOUR !"ass kicked too
@@tinydancer7426 🤣😂
What a wonderful, heartwarming story! I find it very odd the vet would not give you updates or the Rehabilitators information. Our vet and rehab facility insists on keeping in contact with us and bringing the creature back to where it belongs to release it. That way you also know who to donate to for helping the animal.
This story made me cried, but yet it made so happy that those blessed samaritan helped the beautiful Mama Bird back to her family.
God Performs Miracles Everyday Of Our Lives. God Bless This World.
We seriously need more people like this family who really cares about the wildlife and its animals. I wish the human race was like this to be honest
Couldn’t they have relayed the family’s name to the rehabber and asked if he could contact them? It would have been something instead of just leaving the family in the dark. Anyway, these people are amazing and I hope that the osprey and her family aren’t targeted by the eagle again.
Even the vets in Australia are like this. It's so frustrating. You just want to know that the animal is OK and gets released where you found it.
This is a great story. I'm glad her injuries weren't severe and that Tommy was kind enough to work with the people to identify where she needed to be released.
It's so good to see how much people care about other species, but not much about other human beings.
Best story ever. So happy it ended well for everybody. Shame on the vet for being so uncooperative though !
I LOVE that they jumped into action immediately + showed heartfelt concern for the hurt mama, her mate + the babies. I can not understand why releasing info on the mama's status to the people who rescued her was such a confidential matter?! Sounds absurd. Especially after informing the vet her babies were still there. Understand vets have a huge job that's extremely tough but this particular situation angered me immensely. Whose privacy is being violated? Who's it hurting to tell these kind rescuers the status of a wild bird?
Whereas the lack of *any* information was a bit untoward, I absolutely understand the need to keep the rehabber's personal information (including contact info) confidential on the vet's part. If I surrender my time and effort to rehab animals, ESPECIALLY something as time intensive as a wild bird, it would be very upsetting to have my personal number or email given to random people. Personally, I wouldn't be okay with taking a random call when I signed up to rehab the bird, not run PR.
@@fevre_dream8542 but the whole thing is so easy to work through. It's "hey the lady who brought the Osprey is so worried about her, she has babies in her nest & has been coming here 10 years. Would you be okay if I was to give them your number so she can have updates?" It's not that difficult. The vet was a jerk and I would love to put them on blast bc you don't deserve business if that's fundamentally how you're going to treat people. Just saying. 🙄
@@fevre_dream8542 Oh c'mon, the family who brought the bird in weren't just some random folks, they're in essence the first line of rescue and deeply invested with this pair of ospreys because they nest mere yards from their home and have been for 10 years. The vet office acted like they were CIA operatives and you sound like you walk with a stick up your behind. If I took care of a wounded bird I'd have no problem with taking a call from these sweet folks and continue on with updates.
I can't say enough about the courage, compassion, persistence, commitment, and true love that this family has for these osprey. Thank you for being all that and for posting this video, it gives me much hope.
Oh when Papa Osprey flew closer...he knew !!!! So happy for the family Osprey.

I have a nesting pair in the field behind my apartment. They built new soccer fields with big lights on poles, and that spring a pair built a nest and raised their chicks, and now they’re here again, it’s the first week in June, and mama is on her nest. So cool! I love the whole process, and the first time you hear the new chicks peeping is exciting. Their return every year is great. Thank you for saving Mama, and for diligently searching out her rehabbed so he could release her near her nest. Excellent story!
These people are precious. The mother looked to be in tears on seeing those updates, she was so happy!
I started crying on the moment when daddy bird was calling his mummy bird and the video has already finished and I can't stop crying. It's just amazing story, thank you so much
I love her little complaint to her mate in the end.. "You didnt even clean up the nest while I was gone" ....
So typical lol
Actually... I think she asked where was the babies... I put the quality on high as it goes and zoomed in at the end, there was no babies to be seen and I didn't see her feeding them...
@@DKTeddyBear Exactly - I wanted to see that the babies were alright at the end, but where were they?
Oh wow. What a unique viewing experience. Can't say much good about that vet's office, though. How cold and unfeeling can you get? God bless this wonderful family and the love they have for their Osprey kin. God bless Tommy the rehaber for the magnificent work he does. Seeing her back with her babies and mate was wonderful, and a little tearful, too. ❤
The vet/vet’s employees were truly disgraceful with their refusal to convey information, as if they feared “identity theft” by the rescuers. GOD Bless the rehaber and the rescuers.
It's more about the confidentiality of the carer who had the bird. It is all a bit frustrating though. I have had issues with getting info about birds I have rescued for similar reasons.
this is protocol. Sadly most people won't risk breaching protocol in fear of losing their job.
Agree!!!
All of these rules and protocol’s are in place for a reason. Most of the time they are in place because of an incident. Something happen that forced those procedures in place…it’s nobody’s fault.
They could have at least let the rehaber know about the people who wanted to get in touch with him and let him make the judgement call if he wanted to get in touch with them. Rather than just say "policy" and do nothing.
Ospreys live outside of the frigid regions of Eurasia, Africa, North America, and Australia, and you can see them all over Japan. After breeding, they make a large migration to the South American continent, Africa, and Asia for the winter.
In Japan, ospreys can be seen all over the country, but individuals living in northern Japan and other areas are known as summer birds because they migrate south in late autumn.
They nest in large lakes, rivers, seashores, and rocky shores in these areas, piling up branches to raise their chicks.
Ospreys are usually seen alone, or in pairs, but have been spotted migrating south in groups during the wintering season. Their appearance can look like a seagull from a distance, and they are sometimes mistaken for one.
Thanks Wikipedia
Sweet thanks for that information
Thank you so much for the wonderful commentary on Osprey ecology in your area... I'm always so amazed by the similarities the more the little intricate subtleties that differentiate osprey throughout the world... Maybe a subtle pattern deviation in the feathers.. I discovered Osprey about two years ago and while many might think it's sad there really a big part maybe the only part reason that keep me going
I wonder if ospreys are frequent targets of eagles? Just recalled a buddy found a wounded osprey along the Missouri River in South Dakota. IIRC it had wing bone broken but it was still in good overall health, so it must have been a fresh injury. He rescued it and took it somewhere so it could recover.
I used to see Golden Eagles in the Badlands a lot and those things are BIG. They are big time bullies and will use their size/power to chase the smaller hawks off their kills. The eagle populations have really skyrocketed the past 30 years in So.Dakota. For those who don't know the Golden and Bald eagle are pretty much identical. They look majestic but their personalities suck.
Competition keeps getting tougher for the birds of prey. The ugly buzzards moved in from somewhere years ago and now they're everywhere looking for food.
Family took up guardianship of the ospreys nearby, and hopefully will for many years to come. They're doing a good thing.
I rescued a Barred Owl hit by a car. I did get updates as to when he recovered and was released. Made a full recovery, thankfully.
I'm sure that mama has a lot to talk about to her mate, that was a lot she went through, glad they're all back together!
The lengths this one family went for the osprey is something like I’ve never seen before WOW beautiful god bless
What a nice thing to bring Momma back personally.
Thanks to the very dedicated rehabber, Thomas White! Beautiful job. If I ever visit Facebook again I will sign up for his page. He deserves a bit of fame & attention! His gentle encouragement and reminder that he is there to help Ms. Mama was so touching.
Bless this family and the rehabber. I'm in tears watching this and am so glad that these osprey have their human family looking out for them. My husband and I had a situation where a chimney swift nest that our chimney swifts that come here every year fell down the chimney into the fireplace with the babies inside it. At first we panicked and called rehabbers right away, but we took the time to think about how we might be able to remedy the situation in a way that would be best for the babies....we didn't want to take them away from mom and dad. We ended up building a makeshift nest and put their original nest inside of it fixed right above our chimney flue. We waited and waited for mama to come back and she finally did. Our next feat was making sure she'd come all the way down the chimney to the flue to get to them and she finally did reach them. We waited at the bottom of the fireplace for about 12 hours off and on listening for her to land on the chimney and flutter down, and when we heard her finally go down we were ecstatic. I cannot explain the huge sense of relief once we saw her reach the babies and hang onto the nest/chimney with the babies. After that, we knew she'd keep coming back to care for them as long as they stayed there. The nest fell once more a couple of days later and we fixed it to where there was no way it could move again and they lived happily ever after.
This was an expression of so much love and care for another’s life. Absolutely beautiful!

I have osprey and eagles around my house amongst a wide variety of birds. They all are wonderful neighbors. Since eagles and osprey eat the same thing they often fight. I saw them arguing over a fish and almost fell over watching them. They were flying low and swooped over my head. I find them amazing. Most birds make better spouses than humans as they really bond for life.
I understand why rescues do not give out information randomly but they should keep in contact with the person that brings them in if for no other reason to help to know the best place to release.
Thank you for helping your next door neighbor.
I agree. Also when people are still connected to the animals well being they're more likely to donate something to help that specific animal. Rehabbing can be expensive & every little bit helps.
I'm just glad they didn't give up because that little family needed her & if she couldn't go back it's possible the babies would also need rescuing.
Ospreys bond with their nest for life moreso than they do each other. They don't overwinter together, & if the nest is destroyed, they may go their separate ways & find other mates
