  • Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid (Prime) is a Plug-In Hybrid car with 1.0 - 1.2 l/100 km WLTP fuel consumption (235-196 mpg US | 283-235 mpg UK fuel economy). Is that true? I checked it on 100 km (a little bit over) trip starting with fully charged batteries (similar to WLTP homologation procedure). The result: 0.4 l/100 km (588 mpg US | 706 mpg UK) fuel consumption and 13.2 kWh/100 km (212 Wh/100 mi | 4.71 mpkWh) power consumption (economy).
See also Toyota RAV4 PHEV electric range test: • Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hy...
Toyota RAV4 Prime fuel consumption (economy) with empty batteries: • Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hy...
Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid specification: Plug-In Hybrid car with 2.5 l petrol engine and 18.1 kWh battery (gross)
, system power: 225 kW (306 HP) Nm, AWD-i, 75 km (46.6) WLTP electric range.
As always, I checked real fuel consumption on a petrol station. I noticed 1% difference: computer shows lower by ~1% fuel consumption comparing to what I refueled.

I’ve managed to get 98km on EV only in RAV4 plug-in, with 32*C outside and climate control set to 22*C, which was more than I could dream of.
If I wasn’t caught up too long in Warsaw’s traffic jam (10
Minutes standing STILL with climate control running) I think I could have made 100km in EV mode :)

Cheaper and better than a Tesla Model Y, which has a very claustrophobic rear seat and gives driver range anxiety.

a great consumption figure or at least comparable with a decent EV when it comes to mixed driving. so far the only real downside of this PHEV is the fact that i probably wouldn't use the ICE engine 6+ months of the year. oh and the price isn't exactly great either.

Can we just applaud Toyota for managing to get 15 kWh/100 km on a PHEV 4x4?
We just bought a 2023 one, and for now we drove 500 km with it averaging 0,1 l/100 km , and that's only because I tried it in sport mode for a while with the engine.
However, my question is, if we travel with it, running in normal hybrid mode without charging it at all, what will it average in l/100 km?
