That was an excellent, very real and realistic video for us Brit van conversion hopefuls. Excellent hints and tips! Thanks for that! I saved the video to my "tiny house/van conversion" folder for when it's my turn to wield hammer and jigsaw in my own van. 😀👍
I think you need to think again re the cold mixer tap set up. Just blocking the hot end may seem fine but what you have done is create a dead leg that will sit with stagnant water in that will not get changed and replenished. At the right or should I say wrong temperature (plus 20 degrees C) that could lead to legionella growth that could then infect your water supply. Throw the £8 tap away and buy a single tap mate. Better safe than sorry.
or just put a splitter on the feed and feed the cold water through both hot and cold inputs so you keep the same (lovely) tap. By the way, Legionaires' disease doesn't effect the hands or skin, it's only problematic if breathed in a vapour. I wouldn't worry, statistically, but yeah why not be safe?
Or add a hot water branch to it later on which might be even better. The same could be said about the waste water routing from the sink, which will mean that there is n o syphon actually and the dirty water stagnages in the bottom of the sink waste as the outflow is happening higher up on the side and it will fester and stink, but these are minor issues in an otherwise very inspiring video
Be careful when cutting the metal, as lots of iron filings can get blown everywhere. This will rust and could create problems later. Do not allow it to accumulate anywhere. Also try using riv nuts instead of nuts and bolts. Well worth looking at - strong enough for seat belt anchors I am told. Enjoy your van!

My Transit Custom which I converted into a camper has just been written off, tempted to get something more like a Crafter! Given the small budget you've done a cracking job!
Hi you may have gone over budget ,but if you and your wife like it and it serves your needs, i think that you both have done a great job, time to start to enjoy it....
Your fridge probably won't draw as much power as you think. It only draws power while it's running the compressor so it'll run more on a hot day than a cold day or if you restock it with warm items. Your solar panel will be enough to recharge it or if you drive around and recharge off the alternator.
he has a brilliant channel.. There have been big changes since this build. he has now got high quality units and electrics in. all doccumented in the lastest videos

Absolutely brilliant video, I would love to do this one day, aspiring camper van owner. Can I please ask the viewers, how to find the holes for the bed brackets when you re re-panneled the wall. I would assume trace a cardboard template? Again great video.
You've got a clean van there, but.... 11:30 The bottom of those panels are known to rust on VW (and Sprinters) due to water coming through the white trim clips (top of the shot) then collecting at the base if the drain holes at the bottom are blocked. Probably a good idea to get some anti rust treatment into that base section (you can see the black line!) And maybe some sealant around the clips. The drain holes should be checked regularly.
Thank you, you explain things very well, awsome to see a van build finish that i think i could achieve, its good to see the 5 star builds but im not really capable of that sort of finish, this has given me some great inspiration. Cheers.
I came across your video because I'm just about to buy a van and do exactly the same. I'm single and spent years working on live in a room. I though ending up homelss was bad but actually working while homless massively improved my finances. I finally decided to live in a van and travel and work. I've always wanted travel anyway. I prefer to be off grid. Funny thing is that I too have never watched the news in years. Your right it's twaddle. I decides it's all rubbish also..
We bought a VW Crafter from the place you visited in Estepona recently. Good service and after sales support. Stay away from French and Italian makes. We’ve fitted out the van for window cleaning, fully panelled etc. we Live in Benahavis, happy for you to visit and see what we’ve done. Remember…vans are workhorses, so don’t expect perfection. Alan
I dont care what anyone says, this is absolutely smashing man. You talk like you have no idea what you're doing, dont put yourself down, this is absolutely top quality DIY stuff bro. Ive just got into construction, so will shortly be up and down the country potentially for longer periods, this is quickly becoming somewhat of a priority. Hard part (and 1st step) is figuring out a budget van. Luckily im mechanically competent with the beginner/intermeddiate stuff! Research time. Thank you for the good insight! Lots of food for thought.
Great video pal. Helped show me its not too complicated and I could realistically have a go myself. Going to start saving and My plan is to get this done thanks to you :)
i live abroad currently but hoping to return to the UK in the next few years and I'm really really interested in doing this!! really like what you've done with it 👍
greath video, i enjoyed that. One thing about the water pump. You could elevate the fresh water jug/canister. Than the pump would have to do less work and add to the water pressure. Maybe instead of puttting the two canisters next to each other, put the fresh water one on top of the grey water one.
Enjoyed watching your build, you showed anyone should have a go at doing theirs. One suggestion, on the roof braces with many holes you could fix a narrow (4 inches) strip of ply the length of the brace first then if you do miss the metal you will screw into the ply.
quality video brother one of the most informative videos iv'e seen on youtube (Y) if you use the cladding depends if your gonna use proper cladding that will cost a fortune just use sofit board and starter trim you will get the same look when we do the house's most people just use the sofit and starter trim brother
Those self tapping 'pan head' screws are very good for screwing into thin plate - problem is they rust easily and look a mess and leave staining brown residue - so yeah you have to coat them with something. Nice video mate - I build Tiny Houses up in Scandinavia - all recycled material so can't use a lot of the time savers you use (cleverly) such as stick on tiles, but I enjoy playing with new materials as they become available. I would say I'd have put the Diesel tank outside so it doesn't smell, though I'd always use a woodburner when possible as they don't drain the battery and can never go wrong. And I'd put the grey water container under the van somewhere with an option/switch valve on the sink outlet to drop grey water straight on the ground - as one can in many places, safely, when it's uncontaminated - saves loads of carrying and hassle. When you say a lot of time is used adjusting already made fittings to your new plan then great mate - so many people plan a Tiny House then find the materials they wanted are not available or cost too much or the units are too hard to build - fully made plans NEVER work out in such a convoluted space - you'll find all that you need to change in your first year of van life, according to your own tastes. It usually just consists of special units/drawers/hooks for particular items. BTW I would have used some plastic conduit channel behind the small feature unit you made so that it's easy to retro-fit wiring - that will always be the hardest job of all. Most of the paint weight will evaporate off so don't worry about that.
Wow! Great job! Looks absolutely amazing! I'd love to have that! You guys are so gonna enjoy using this van especially knowing that you've built everything inside with your own hands! Thanks for sharing!
Mate watch your eyes while your drilling metal. My son got some metal shards in his eye, we had to go to the doctor to get it out. Wear goggles. Window is nice and straight....well done. I never thought about sound deadening. Is that stuff expensive? Ive seen some vans with blind coming down from the top and a fly screen coming up from the bottom. Man that electrics is complicated. Ahh thats what I need to fix it all up... the cute tape measure. Very impressive build

MotoGP Italy, Manx TT just finished and IndyVana Jones, well done on the Podium completion!
To tell you the truth, it's fantastic for what you paid out for it. Couldn't have done it much better myself. Happy camping guys. Rob❤
Love the build. Do you stil have your reptile collection?
Brilliant. Totally awesome videos. Very inspiring and no nonsense. Great job.
Alan
Thanks for giving a real insight as to how it worked out .
All these people going over the top . Nice and real . Well done mate 👏
Talented man who knows what he's doing tbf 👏 👌 great job sir
Take a breath than a bow, top work. Superb effort.
i live abroad currently but hoping to return to the UK in the next few years and I'm really really interested in doing this!! really like what you've done with it 👍
greath video, i enjoyed that.
One thing about the water pump. You could elevate the fresh water jug/canister. Than the pump would have to do less work and add to the water pressure. Maybe instead of puttting the two canisters next to each other, put the fresh water one on top of the grey water one.
You've done exactly what I've done with my van Dodo wise. Lovely job. You won't need a diesel heater tho!! 🙂
Enjoyed watching your build, you showed anyone should have a go at doing theirs. One suggestion, on the roof braces with many holes you could fix a narrow (4 inches) strip of ply the length of the brace first then if you do miss the metal you will screw into the ply.
Just came across your videos. You are a top bloke, your down to earth builds and videos are brilliant. Excellent sense of humour too.
Amazing video mate. You inspired me to do the conversion. I was a little bit afraid before. You made it look easy. Thanks.
Have to say this was a joy to watch. Best explanation vid ever 👍🏻👍🏻
This is an excellent resource, thank you for your good energy and inspirational perspective
quality video brother one of the most informative videos iv'e seen on youtube (Y) if you use the cladding depends if your gonna use proper cladding that will cost a fortune just use sofit board and starter trim you will get the same look when we do the house's most people just use the sofit and starter trim brother
That was brilliant, It's been my dream to build my own van but I'm afraid finances stop me but man that looks good, Well done.
Wow! Great job! Looks absolutely amazing! I'd love to have that! You guys are so gonna enjoy using this van especially knowing that you've built everything inside with your own hands! Thanks for sharing!
How did you know what to do?
Mate watch your eyes while your drilling metal. My son got some metal shards in his eye, we had to go to the doctor to get it out. Wear goggles. Window is nice and straight....well done. I never thought about sound deadening. Is that stuff expensive? Ive seen some vans with blind coming down from the top and a fly screen coming up from the bottom. Man that electrics is complicated.
Ahh thats what I need to fix it all up... the cute tape measure. Very impressive build
What a cracking video and build! Super impressed with what you've achieved and thanks so much all the tips you've shared. As others have said, you don't need to apologise for anything whatsoever. If anything, you should stop putting yourself down! Your modesty and humility are admirable but you've got some serious skills and you should be really proud. Same with your video presentation and editing, which was amazing considering how much you packed into such a relatively short time. Really really enjoyable to watch, with great humour and infectious enthusiasm in spades. Thanks so much, we learned a lot from this. Subbed!! 🙏👍😎
Nice build. We fitted the windows in ourselves, costly but cheaper than getting a firm to do them
great video am going to do a campervan not sure what to get merc vito or a Crafter?
Best converton video I've seen yet.
Refreshing- good job lad.
