I love that you always say it will be great, no matter how you feel. And that you have a plan voor the different ways you can feel. If I'm this than I'll do this, if I'm that than I'll do that. Not letting your body stop you doing what you love. Some days I'm great with going with how I feel, some days I struggle so much. Luckily I love crocheting and can sit and listen to a book and crochet on bad days. Also it's so cute and lovely how supportive Grady is and that he offers to be a figure for you to paint 🥰
Sandi, I’ve been binge watching your videos the last month or so and love your joy and enthusiasm for playing with all sorts of materials, making marks, the fun of packing for plain air, the clothes, and simply the whole journey is inspiring, and I’ve been loving following your joyful heart in the direction of more abstract art. This reaching art goals helps us all to set our goals in motion and encourage us to prioritise for mindfulness fun and realise these goals. Above all, I subscribed because you never fail to put a smile on my face with your asides and all the laughs 😊).
Off tangent, I wonder if you’ve used Dorland’s Wax? It’s apparently a great sealer for watercolour and gouache (Sarah Burns has a brilliant video in regards to sealing gouache) and I personally don’t love the expense of Sennelier Fixative and the inhalation dangers concerning sprays (and OMS for that matter - so use Zest it!). Oil painters enjoy using the Dorland’s Wax to get great texture in their paintings… and I’ve been searching to see if anyone has played with Dorland’s Wax in regard to wax pastels…. There is nada (unless my search terms are rubbish). Just wondered if it’s something you may consider playing and experimenting with, especially regarding using with oil pastels? Anywho, just a thought.

Thank you for the kind words!!! Yes, I tried that wax years and years ago. I find that wax never fully dries and I didn’t love it. But give it a try since others have found success with it
Congratulations on all the exciting things happening! It's been so much fun to watch your journey unfold. I don't usually comment, but had to say a big "HECK YEAH" to the "set a timer" idea! I use this method of getting things done all the time, it's especially helpful when I don't feel like starting.....I figure I can do SOMETHING for ten minutes. I set the timer, force myself to start, and that's usually enough to make me want to keep going!!!

Congratulations on being part of the exhibition in Scotland,it's a fantastic gallery,so happy for you that they invited you to show there,your interview with Maria is so inspiring,artist to artist is always a winner,you were joyfully articulate in the conversation.I loved the park paintings,they made me think of that famous paint by Seurat of people in the park,can see why the last painting lit up Instagram,you capture the characters of the people you paint so well it adds to the sense of the day you create in the paintings so brilliantly.(Matt) p.s I hope your arm continues to get better and stronger too,sending healing energy your way

Your interview with Maria was such a joy to watch! You were both so relaxed and cheerful and there were some good laughs too! We can always count on you for a wee bit of jocularity (The quality of being happy, and liking to make jokes). The part about Grady explaining to you what it is like for him to live with you was priceless! I loved watching this video of your new process. You are always problem solving and passing it on. It is a joy to watch you paint, because you take such delight in it and immerse yourself in it. I know you won’t be insulted for me to say “like a child”, because that is exactly how they paint. Loved the paper paintings and the last canvas painting. I think sometime prepared surface with texture can take away from the expression of your actual brush stokes of paint if that makes sense. Please dont take this as a negative comment at all rather I would say a compliment as your brush marks are so much fun all on their own.

I think the process of studio prep worked good and I'll probably give it a go in the future too

Hello Sandi, love your channel & watched your interview on Talking with Painters. When I watch your RUclips channel, I always feel that we are sitting down & having a chat over a cuppa. I live just over the boarder with Scotland & will be in Edinburgh when your work is in the Morningside Gallery. So, I will visit & hopefully make a purchase, as I love your work. Hi Sandi, If you don't mind a suggestion ........ you could also paint the background on location and then take a few quick photos of people as you see them and add them in later. I find it difficult to add figures to my work because they are always moving so fast, so I prefer to grab a reference photo for later. That way, I am able to spend more time getting the location details and colours in and then later concentrating on getting the figures right. It also gives you a chance to be creative with how many figures and where they are placed in the work. I also love the last painting that you stretched over a board . Congrats on the art show- that's so exciting!!
I actually find it to be the opposite for me. I find I can get a looser figure if I just stare and try to memorize their shape and plop something down - of if I don’t get everything down then I just “build a figure” by waiting for another person to come by and add their head or body or whatever I’m “missing”
