- Looking for the right pink ! Mixing a variety of reds to find what I'm after. Continuing with the painted/mixed media tulips from last week, exploring different ideas.

Thanks to you Gaynor I've just done a landscape painting that had my best ever foreground foliage, a good middle ground semi abstract field and a good sky........ BUT they didn't go together.
So I haven't the skill to make them go together and then I had a brainwave? I found my Stanley knife and chopped off the top third (it was an a canvas board) and surprise surprise I now have TWO really good paintings.
I wouldn't have thought about that if it hadn't been for your inspiration to do anything and never give up.

Spring has sprung in Gaynor's studio. Amazing that good old Cad. R. med. made such a lovely neutral pink. I like it! lightening Reds is so challenging - too cool, too warm, or goldilocks perfect. I pretty well put most of my reds in their beds and mainly use Pyrrole PR254. I find I can warm or cool it easily. I'd forgotten how much I liked Cad. R. Lt. It makes a good, more opaque orange when warmed. Thank you for giving us this video when you are so busy. Take care of yourself.

Do you ever get discouraged and just bin a painting in progress? I love how your response to something you aren’t fond of is not « yuck », but « more work to be done on that » - what a great approach!
REBECCA.....if only you knew how many paintings I have binned !!!! Before I realised there is an alternative way ..... I wish I could have them all back BUT I learned something along the way !! XX
I make mod podge. 3 parts Pva, 1 part water, then a glug of water based varnish. I used it for my collage workshop that I ran I my studio in Kent last week.

Really loved the pink you got in the Matisse chair in your sketchbook! 😍 I found you could really see the colour intensity in the picture rather than in the video showing of it.
Always love seeing other artists that have lots going on all at once and have different projects all over the place in different stages of completion, it’s reassuring! Hihihi! I feel like to “normal people” I must seem so scattered but then I see from artists RUclipsrs that I am not alone in that. Fiew! I am normal among my kind. Hahaha!

Hi. I found a brilliant supply of gorgeous frames at our local Reuse shop when I went to the tip last week……average price about £4 !!! Great for seeing your work in a frame and keeping them safe. One or two of them were in absolutely perfect condition….as new!!! Now, of course I have to cut my paper to fit a potential frame before I begin a painting.
We have many charity stores but the frames go like hot cakes !!! Well done on your find XX

Rocket!!! We have cats and they too munch on things in the garden that they shouldn´t . . . and so a lot of plants have to be covered over.- I hope he is better. Seems like those hyacinths are rockets too.

Also, have you thought of selling your artwork inside you cabin with a walkabout? I saw someone from Australia do that and they made out like a bandit and didnt have far to go. I think the public viewing of an artist studio is more inviting for sales so I hope you get the chance to do that.

Good morning. I’m fascinated by the journey of the tulip paintings. I journeyed too from I liked, l didn’t like, it was okay and then I liked. I’m not good at the risk taking part but continue to work on it. I’ve got 20 more days of exhibit time on my first show and I’ve sold two paintings! I’m shocked but excited too. My favourite pink is on the Amsterdam standard colour chart and is called Venetian Rose. I downloaded the chart and had it professionally printed. Amsterdam very kindly print the pigment numbers for each colour and although they don’t give you the exact recipe, with a bit of experimentation you can get some interesting variations. ITS made up of titanium white, napthol red medium and yellow ochre.

Hmmm. Car giving trouble so I can’t go shopping, band practice tonight. Do I watch the video or do something useful and save it for tonight. I quite like pink so I’ll save it for later and clean some windows - or not!

Here is something that worked for me. Storing, as well as taking to sell at shows. Cheap Joe's Perfect Presentation for flat work.
You get backerboard , mat, and sleeve to protect it all...acid free! Maybe something like this is available to you in your country?

I did a quick scan of comments and could not find where you may have mentioned what kind of giant paper you are using? You have inspired me to set up my easel and use it for paper, but I definitely need bigger paper than I currently have. :) It's all good though, as I am still having a blast painting. Thank you for all you so generously share with us.
A1 paper is snowdon 300gsm, any brand will do the job, just make sure it is 300gsm or more X

Like that the colors take on a new look each year. .. like fashion does... and hairstyles. Imagine if we all still wore the look of even 5 years ago. This year will mark the year of changing out the historical look I've been in ....staring with hair, then the closet will soon B bare. Can't wait to start sewing a modern look... I think I'll start today. Yea 😅
Study color theory and look at some of the art from the 600 BC on, shows there ain't nuttin' new in the color wheel. And talk about fashion ... history of the arts is in vogue for 2024.

Hi Gaynor, where do you get your frames from? I’ve been pricing and sourcing frames for my art to sell, the glass alternatives are interesting and I’ve struggled to get away from the ‘purist’ idea of real glass, but it’s really not practical in the post, also same thing with real wood frames, lovely idea but soooo expensive, then I found recycled polystyrene frames that look really good, so why not, got to be better for the planet and more of the value in the art work. This is where seeing other artists online and the products being used is great for broadening my way of thinking, thanks, great channel

And he’s gone! What’s the first things I notice? Your plants on the table. Mother in laws tongue (snake plant to you) and the variegated hen and chicken (perhaps you call it spider plant) both of which grow wild in my garden. The hen and chicken are quite thick and have cascaded down an ugly wall. Now to watch the video!

@@gaynorpattleI hope yours makes babies. They send out a long shoot and there’s a mini plant at the end. When it hits the ground it takes root quickly. So I cut them off as it would soon get out of hand. Fabulous video today, so inspiring. As to pink, Amsterdam have a beautiful Venetian Rose and on their website they give the pigments used: PW6 titanium white, PR112 napthol red medium and PY42 yellow ochre. They don’t give quantities but it was an easy mix and makes a very pretty salmon

E qual a gramatura de papel que você usa para pintar? Gosto muito de colagens, texturas visuais e gelli print. Mas sinto que ao usar essas técnicas na tela de algodão que tem o fundo atrás da tela, não fica legal pois não tem a sustentação. Por isso já percebi que a minha forma de fazer arte, deve ser no papel e no papel me solto mais, sou mais livre e lembro do meu tempo de criança.

Way past my bed time. Please stay away from the mod-podge its not stable and will reactivate with heat and humidity. Avoid that. Use liquitex mat gel medium in your work. This is recommended by my teacher a professional artist in collage. Look her up you would like her. Elizabeth StHilaire.
