I have a crafty husband and about 2 years ago I was away for a few days and he had built me an art nook in the basement. I was so in love with it when I got home that I ended up falling askeep at the desk that night. Your husband is a sweetheart for encouraging you and finding ways to improve your space to enhance your creativity;and he lets you spread out all over the house. I've been so blessed to have found a husband that is all those things for me, too.
I wish you too a lifetime of happiness and creativity.
Your backyard is so AMAZING. I showed my husband and we are both loving it. Your home is situated just how we are hoping to have our future house. When you said someone could buy it and put condos I thought what a shane that would be. For now, though, your family as stewards of the land are loving it and keeping it beautiful and that is so wonderful. Sorry I sound so sappy lol. Have a great week and see you next time. 🙂

Even if the painting isn't finished, it actually encourages me to hear that you have been working at it for months. I think RUclips sometimes gives the impression that you do five paintings per day or at least one a day, maximum taking up to a week. That Life and Inspiration/Lack Thereof sometimes get in the way for professional artists, too, is heartening to me.

Thank you for encouraging me to “trust the process.” I love your videos and look forward to them. You help me not to take myself too seriously. I love the way you giggle. It’s contagious! I love that your house is your studio. Mine is the living room. Who needs a living room anyway!

I'm LOVING your vlogs!! I feel like I have a good friend painting in the same room with me. I now live in the country away from a lot of people and I miss my art peeps from the bigger town I used to live in. Watching your vlogs makes me feel like I have a good friend to listen to and watch while I paint or sketch too. I love watching your process, I'm just now learning about gouache and having so much fun with it, you are giving me great ideas with the other art objects I have, I love mixed media and just playing around! PS: I REALLY LOVED the vlog you did that ended up in you sharing your cat sketches...we have 2 cats and I've been trying to put cats in my paintings too and seeing the million and 1 sketches you did gave me hope ha,ha...thanks again and ps: you have the cutest, funnest personality! thanks for sharing you with us too!!

I just had the opportunity to attend the open house for Erin Hansen’s new studio in Oregon. It was such an inspiration seeing her gorgeous paintings in real life. I’ve been in a painters prison for quite awhile now, but watching your videos gives me so much comfort. They make me feel like I can actually lose myself in the art world and forget the negative things in the outside world. Between your painting videos, your fun personality, and seeing Erin Hansen’s gallery and studio, I am feeling anxious to paint again. But the best part is, you are teaching me to not take things so seriously. Just jump in and have fun. Thank you Sandi. I love your work. You are an inspiration.

Even though the painting wasn’t finished, it was helpful to see the process, to hear your honesty about the challenges of getting back into painting after a short holiday. Seeing your house from the pond - that was beautiful. Your house reminded me of a descriptive scene from the children’s classic, Anne of Green Gables (one of my favourite children’s classic books). The white against the green looked so pretty. And your kitchen, I have to admit, I am a little jealous of. What a wonderful space. Thank you for another great vlog 🌳

Yes, that's the way I see it. An artist lives here. I have a bedroom that was my art studio but I've been so blessed with supplies. That room is now an art supply room and I started using my dining room to paint in. I made so many paintings that it's now a painting storage space. Now I paint in my bedroom but I clean up my art mess every time and put things away when I finish for the day. I have carpet and if my acrylics get on the carpet I just get it really wet and clean it up fast and it's not a problem. I do have some colorful sheets from spills past but an artist lives here.

Just discovered your channel and was watching last years one about how your channel is slow growing and you asked for help, ideas and shares. I noticed you don't put hashtags on your videos, that's probably why you haven't came up on my feed which is all art related. Also your channel is not cohesive which the algorithm doesn't like. I personally LOVE your channel and tell everyone to watch it. You are a hidden GEM! Can you please make a PATREON channel, I would pay for your vlogs and content.

hi! I'm normally a quiet subscriber but I really felt the need to comment today. thank you so much for being such a huge inspiration for me! I've been in a serious art slump for the last four or five months, and as art is really my only hobby, it's been a very boring time without it. but thanks to you and your videos, I've finally felt that I'm getting out of my slump and I feel excited to create things again. I've been doodling more in my sketchbook and playing with my materials in ways I wouldn't before! I've been feeling a lot better mentally with art in my life again. I tend to create original characters and storylines with my art, as I am starting to make a horror comic, but I love taking a step back from that stressful stuff and just playing with art :D it's so fun to doodle in my sketchbook as I watch your videos, as they're very relaxing and make me feel less lonely as I'm isolated. thanks so much again for all that you do!! I really appreciate you and your work :) that's all, have a great day :D

    Love love love your videos!
Not sure if you are interested in this but......I recently purchased the King Art gel sticks ($14 at TJ Maxx) and they are perfect for going out to paint something quick and loose. I went out to our pond this morning with a little fishing seat that has pouches for stuff and folds up along with these gel sticks and a small sketchbook. While I wish I brought a book with smooth paper I really enjoyed using the sticks and was happy with my sketch. Soooo much easier than paint in the wild. Also, I drew (painted?) a sunset with these and another one with my Gelatos and I could NOT see a difference between the two. I like these better because of the color choices and they blend just as easily as Gelatos.
Anyway I know you like fast, loose sketching and I think you'd love these as much as I do.

I think for me, the dock needs a little more perspective, or narrowing down. It looks like you're looking at the top of it, which is maybe what you wanted but I think that's what's throwing it off for me. I also recently tried using water with my soft pastels on watercolour paper and it gave a really different effect.

My cat Finn (#finntern) walked through some gesso and across my studio's hardwood floors. (originally the "library" in our house) The paw prints are so cute I couldn't bear to clean them so I pretended I didn't see them until they dried. A Mr. Clean magic eraser does wonders on my trim and baseboards if you really need to get rid of splatters...Love your videos!

I love that other people can see things in other peoples artwork, even if that’s not what she meant by it. However, it is clear to say that that is a little raft going out into the water a little pier. It definitely doesn’t look like a horse, unless you’re a little bit tipsy and you’re squinting and you’re looking from it very far away.

I'm back with a question. I noticed when you were flipping through your sketchbook, you sometimes left blank pages between sketches. I just noticed another artist (Emma) doing this as well. Is this just to help protect the sketch?

    • @sandihester
      @sandihester  3 года назад

The sketchbook you saw me doing that in is inexpensive and has thin pages so there’s bleed through or I’ve used water soluble crayon or pencil on the other side and don’t want to “reactivate it” with wetting the other side of the page

the problem with idris murphy's work is it doesn't pass the dumpster test. That is, if you saw one of his pieces propped up against a dumpster, not knowing it was his, ready to be hauled away as trash, would you want to take it home? And i can say with great confidence - no one would want to save it.
