  • Steve-O recounts a low point in his drug addiction and the mass email that led “Jackass” co-star Johnny Knoxville to stage an intervention. Plus: stories from his recovery, including suicidal thoughts, lessons from rehab, the unlikely benefits of his pessimistic outlook and the reason he stayed in sober living for two years.

Yeah I was about to comment that it´s so annoying when the interviewer feel they need to interrupt or just saying stuff like "Yeah, yeah, okay uhm hm." you know to show they are listening but this interviewer just listens and nods so show he is listening and by doing so it´s so much easier to get immersed in the story Steve-O is telling, very good interviewer.

Steve O is amazing. He's one of my new favorite people because I see what he's doing. Twenty years ago he was a bad influence on kids and now he's using his troubled past to possibly help other addicts. Plus he's vegan. I think it's admirable, it's more than just talking about himself.

I am 11 years sober this year, even now, everything Steve-o says holds true regarding hopelessness, i was there, i had to admit to myself that i was worth more than booze, it is hard to face yourself when you realize what you have become/done. I ended up writing a letter to my booze, as if ending a friendship with someone toxic, didn't know what to write at first but when i let go and got mad at booze/myself for 'our' actions and the time i wasted/friends i lost / poisoning my body, i was the best feeling in the world to let it ALL out in a private manner(i was essentially grieving)Doing this one thing, for me, changed my mindset towards alcohol for good and i said my goodbyes.
Sobriety is a choice we make each day and some days are harder than others but it's an amazing feeling when you realize how empowering independence from alcohol can be.
Love that Steve-o could put in word what i couldn't.
Apologies for the long write up.

I remember when they released all this on DVD. Me and my friends were lifelong Jackass and Steve-O fans who watched everything that came out. We were all a bunch of fuck ups ourselves but this release as well as his PCP video were really sobering and sad for all of us. It honestly helped us curb our own usage to a degree. We still had to reach our own rock bottoms, some of us never did and I had to cut them out of my lives for my own mental and physical health, but seeing Steve-O basically document his own mental decline due to rampant drug use and stupid behavior and where it lead...shit...that was actually pretty powerful.
He went to the darkest place but he made it out and really inspired a lot of people because of it. That's rare and commendable.
