Imagine being all alone and finding a nice giant who feeds you, shares living space with you, lets you cuddle up to them when you want to get warm and climb all over them?
You mean other people haven't experienced that? I'm currently the pet human of a 300 feet tall giant called Slorg. I live on his shoulder and he feeds me pasta. We communicate through whistles. I thought that was normal 🥺
the exact same thing happened to me as in this video. found a little budgie like this in the park here in the uk. when I first got home he was so hungry he would cling onto me and even fly onto my head I guess to get my attention for food. who knows how long he was out there. but after he was fed and we went out and brought him a cage, he wanted nothing to do with us😂 he's warmed up to us now, not as touchy feely as the little guy in the video tho, he likes his space!!
@@mariana2046 It makes me feel horrible that there are people who would just release these poor birds into the wild. Captive bred animals have no instinct for surviving without humans. Glad to hear you rescued a little budgie and he’s doing well 😊
@Lotus Lady people do that?! why do people do that? I just assumed he accidentally escaped out of a window or something. yes he's a happy bird, definitely want to get him a friend because he's obsessed with his reflection in the mirror!
@@mariana2046 Oh lord yes! They do the same thing with reptiles too. Possibly rodents I’m not sure. People will get a bird because they think they are easy pets or a cute conversation piece for guests then realize there’s a lot of work to them and they make noise and will abandon them. Thankfully most get sent to shelters but plenty probably get released into the wild 🙁
Budgies bobbing their heads up and down is a sign of happiness and excitement. He’s also trying to preen her as part of her flock. That’s so freaking cute 😭
Same happened to my nan. Her cockatiel got outside, when she went into the garden. It was immediately attacked by crows. My nan went outside with the cage, and luckily the tiel came down and got back inside. Very shaken up, but OK. Was very lucky, as could have been chased away for good.
Mine flew away from me, and came back 3 days later, i found him in the tree outside our house - so i took his cage with his mate in it - and he directly flew inside the cage :D
Modern people are so brainless, silly nature loves who do more damage than good. Okay you concerned paras**es.... the bird got out of his original home, not abandoned. Just abandoned on the title like it was a sort of rescue from a person who was an a-hole and just left his bird out to be lost.. what you should of done is look into it to see if someone was missing the bird so you can confirm if this bird was abandoned or severely lost. this made me sick, the music, the whole joyful rainbow stuff... the little animations showing the animals making little sounds... next thing you know they will have deers and bears playing together and some half witted bubbly person with a blank look talking to the camera of how amazing this garbage is. ... perfect example... you lost the poor bird and imagine someone found it and said your bird was simply abandoned by you.... like animals at the pound called rescues because the person violated a by law and bam... a rescue.... or like when my budgie got out by a stupid mistake and someone probably found her and said.... i found an abandoned bird. someone will look at my comment and be like what a facsist, sexxist, hatefull, ahole.. hahahahahahahaha
Budgies bob their heads all the time, both male and females. It is general behavior of excitement and curiosity. They do other stuff when they're in mating season
He was special tho, he had experienced with humans before, so he knows that we can be friendly, other animals live in forest where it’s eat or be eaten, so those animals have no idea if we want them for a snak or just keep them for the benefit of not being lonely 🙂
After watching this ive come to the realisation that these stories are not real. They took that bird to the park knowing it couldn't fly and made up a story of finding it. It was probably already owned by this lady. Its so easy to fool ppl these days
I'm a bird owner. This video literally made me cry because I'm so angry that he was left alone & at the same time, I'm crying because I'm happy that he was literally able to find a home with somebody. Baby is so cute...
I am too a bird owner. I have cared for 2 rescue birds , breeding and received 2 unwanted ones from a family. They are God's creatures just as dogs and cats. They are so loving ❤️.
@DeathNikki You dont know that she didnt try to find the original owner + its just as likely the first owner let them go on purpose, which is a death sentence to a house pet like a budgie
@@Kaytran97 pet stores/breeders do that BS. bird parents can have a vet remove them if they have a bird with one, as they can cause some physically injuries and anxiety/mental problems. I adopted my birb, but if he had had one I would've had it removed right away. there are whole networks online of bird people who help other bird people get their birds back, because they escape just like other pets, but with birds no one else cares. She should've tried posting on bird groups. She said, "well he didn't have a band" as though that means someone abandoned him and that is NOT what that means. a lil guy that friendly was in a very happy household. still relieved she saved him and he's being well cared for again
Probably not abandoned but escaped. One of my parakeets got away when I was little. Was so worried and heartbroken. Knowing that she was able to save one gives me a glimmer of hope that mine was also saved.
Well many people release them unfortunately. It's a mixed pot. But the chances of finding an escaped or lost bird are very low. So all you can hope for is that they found a new safe home
Make it 2 birds. This literally happened to me too. Scooped a budgie off the street near a park. Tried to find the owner but no luck. That was 2 years ago now. Our baby budge is happy and healthy
My bird I had as a kid got out and was gone for 2 days but we got lucky and he came back I still remember that day he was yelling at me form I tree I yelled his name and put my hand out and flew back to me I had that little guy for a few years after he was cool little guy
Yes. Parakeets have a life span of approx 15-years. You OBVIOUSLY took very good care of him. And your little bird was lucky in his genetics, and not catching any environmental issues.
As an owner of 9 parakeets, I am astonished on now calm and content he looks! So used to his environment and not scared and skittish at all. What a sweetie!! You just make an absolute best friend! Thank you so much for saving him and giving him a chance to live a happier life
He was beat by other birds in the park he approach to her to find protection as he know that with ppl will be safe. I had the same case as lady on video, the bird live foer 7 years it was wonderful friendship.
Just for anyone who may not know, when birds head bob ( most domestic birds ) it means they are really happy. He’s a lucky bird for getting a great home, especially for someone who wasn’t very experienced at first :)
I had a yellow parakeet once; cried like a baby when she died! 😢 Most people don’t realize that birds are full of personality even tiny little parakeets.
Omg yes. I remember my friend had a parakeet that was sick. It was old so I took it from her to bring it to a bird hospital. It died right when we pulled up in front of the place. I held it in my hands and cried my heart out. I was pregnant at the time too and my hormones were all crazy so it hit me even harder. The guy took his body from me and buried him 😞.
That bird was fairly young when she first found him, and for a young budgie to be so friendly and trusting, they usually have to be hand-raised from birth. He likely escaped from a breeder. And one more thing... Not all pet budgies have leg bands!! In fact, most don't. I've had 8 of them and only one ever had a band, and I couldn't even read the number on it.
Man he was really really lucky to have found her, especially in a place like NYC where anything could happen to a small animal like that. Glad she took him in
small, 35 gram domesticated animal that keeps body temp up by eating. it's a miracle he survived... lucky fella. he was falling asleep as soon as he climbed on her shoulders.
Theres no proof it was abanonded the more likely case is that it accidentally flew off. Happens all too often. Not all birds have leg bands, especially budgies.
@g h So you're just going to assume the bird was abandoned? lol The majority of budgie owners don't put bands on their legs. I'm so confused as to how other people abandoning their animals, automatically means this budgie was abandoned.
I had a parakeet land on my chair at a park a couple of weeks ago. I posted everywhere online, called multiple vets, pet stores, and rescues in several surrounding cities. Haven't heard from anyone about her so I'm taking care of her now ❤️
That little parakeet is living a true Cinderella story. It's so great that he was found by the perfect person to give him a loving home and beautiful life. ❤️
Life is like that. She said she's afraid of birds take a look what God sends her lol. We must face our challenges no matter how big or small. So good to have a friend.
"setting free" a pet/tropical bird in this environment is not a thing. They'll starve to death, the bird is way better off being rehomed. I'm glad she took her in, I hope she actually was abandoned and didn't just fly out someone's window
Yeah. I hope the lady tried to reach out and find the original owners. Abandoned or escaped, it would've died out there without help!! Such friendly little bird, too. I feel bad for whoever lost it.
Actually i also had a budgie but it flew out through the ventilation holes in the walls while every one was having breakfast, he never came back. I loved him so much
Parakeets are actually quite capable to survive in colder climates. They are now an invasive species in quite a few areas that are far away from tropical regions. Of course this bird wouldn't have been able to survive all by himself but larger flocks actually do.
I actually rescued a parakeet that flew down onto my head from a tree in a mountain neighborhood. She lived about 12 years after I rescued her... She was needy her entire life, but was very happy when she (I) finally got a friend to live with... I named her Primrose and she was a goofball. Just lost her last year after her best friend passed, and I really miss them both.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Even the littlest ones take a huge piece of our hearts when they go. Hopefully you’ll see them again someday on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. May they fly high.
It's incredible how loving these birds are. A lot of people don't realize that birds develop real relationships with people. They aren't just animals that you stick in a cage and admire. They need interaction and affection, just like a dog or cat, and they return it just like a dog or cat. It's fascinating when it is your first bird or it was for me.
You are right. I loved my budgie Charlie so very much. He was so affectionate, and said a lot of words and phrases too. When he died suddenly at age seven I was so shocked and bereft.
Do people cage animals to admire them? That’s like people who did not conceive slaves were actually people. Yes, of course animals have feelings, a personality and intelligent but most importantly are pure expressions of love!
i lost a bird like this when i was 8 and im 23 now but he flew out of his cage by accident and went out the patio door.. its cool to see people takin in exotic animals since theyre not supposed to live in the wild in most parts of the US
@@katrao1501your problem is you got a pair. If the bird is alone it will bond with you but when paired with another it gets difficult. You can introduce but imprinting should be done with you
When I was little our parakeet escaped. We were all very sad. This makes me feel better that maybe someone found him and took him in as this lady did. This little guy really lucked out.
@@queen_of_4 Most likely, but at least she saved him instead of just hoping the original owners found him. I've heard of budgies flying quite a ways from home..
I wish I could think the same about our rabbits but I doubt it a predator probably killed it days after it escaped since they were both white and I live in a tropical country😢
I once found a budgie just like this one on the beach getting ready to fly out to see. Took the little fella home with me. Luckily I'd just gotten another budgie, so they had a pal! Even though it made them alot harder to train.
Parakeets are so loving and smart. They can learn to talk with time and patience too. I had several of them for many years. He seems like a happy little fella.
Sometimes it doesn't even take time. I adopted another baby budgie earlier this year and the little chatterbox was talking within weeks! They're so smart.
I don't think the budgie was abandoned. He's so sweet and trusting, so my guess is that he escaped from a loving home by accident. I'm glad he was rescued, but if I found a pet bird I'd first try to find the owner. I kind of hope they see this video so they know their baby is alive and happy.
I live in a big city myself, and when people lose a pet, they often put some notes on lamp poles or other places. People that found a pet could also do this in the neighbourhood where they found the pet. And social media is always a possibility as well, of course.
Many years ago I was hurrying to work when I felt I'd kicked something with my shoe, I couldn't see what due to the foot of snow on the ground. Turned out it was a yellow budgie. I was already running late for my bus to work but I couldn't just leave it there. So I grabbed the bird ran home and thrust it into my Dad's hands with "it's a budgie" before running from the house again. Lord knows what he must have thought at the moment but he wrapped the budgie in a cloth and let it warm slowly by the coal fire we had at the time. The bird got named Shell, since it was found next to the Shell Petrol station, and ended up with us for seven years until it died
They are great companions. Once my wife and I almost run over a parakeet that flew in front of our car as night was approaching in San Francisco winter, he looked like the one on the video. We stopped and my wife got off the car to only to have the parakeet jump on to her finger!! We took him home and drove around the next day to see if anybody had put up any notices of a missing parakeet; he must've wonder away from his home, he spoke something that sounded like Japanese and Italian! We had a 14 year old Maine Coon cat that could never accept other cat, as hard as we tried, but slowly we introduced the parakeet to our cat and they became best friends and shared great moments together. We named the parakeet Lucky and he had such a huge personality - just wonderful. Both passed away some years ago - we missed them.
Aww, I got my parakeet (fancy parakeet, shown in the video) for $50. Yet all the equipment was around $120. Anyways, my brother was begging me to hold him (he was in the carrier box), which I let him hold the box, and he was texting on his phone and dropped the carrier. I named him Lucky, since he was and still is a baby.
@@rajappanbalachandar2626I have the same opinion, it's pretty lucky their cat accepted the bird. My cat is a sweetheart, but he would def injure birds. He already brought two wild birds home which he didn't injure to actually penetrate them with this bite, but plucking feathers and treating it like a toy. No consideration whatsoever. It's an instinct thing. If any cat is able to accept it's natural food source as a friend, thats rly lucky.
That's a well socialized and, most likely, well loved little budgie. I think he probably escaped and someone is missing him. So glad he found you - he wouldn't have survived much longer.
When we bought our Amazon parrot from a pet shop 34 years ago, it had a leg band because it had been brought into the country (USA) under quarantine. We brought our bird to an avian vet who removed the leg band. We have had many other birds but none of them ever had a leg band. Incidentally, our Amazon is doing fine. The average life expectancy is 45 years so it is a very long time commitment.
Our neighbors bird got loose and was hanging out in our yard and my Dad found this colorful bird and it flew right to him and the neighbors were so relieved.
My sister-in-law was sitting at a picnic table when a parakeet landed out of nowhere. They escape easily. I think people get so used to them being around and forget not to open doors.
@@tmross4 Clipping the wings isnt the problem mate, its how you should always keep doors that lead outside shut and always keep your windows closed when your budgie is around. Please do not clip your budgies wing.
So awesome! They say we often meet angels and don’t know it. Well, this bird and this woman both met their special angel. May they live happily ever after.
I lost my pet parrot a couple years ago when she accidentally flew out the window my dad left open. I miss her everday & I'm so worried she's still out there alone and scared. I hope just like in this video that someone special found her and took her in. Miss you, Rocky
I think your parrot probably eventually flew in another window somewhere. Twice in my life I witnessed a lost parakeet flying in through someone's window. I think what happens is that they remember flying out a window and how it generally looked like but they're unable to recognize which window it was (especially in big apartment buildings) so they just give it a try hoping they will land back home.
I’m sorry for your loss of your parrot, Rocky. I’m sure Rocky is living a great life with someone else. Like another poster said, they fly IN another window like they flew out. Nobody said they found a bird cuz they wanted to keep Rocky. I hope someday you get closure. All my best to you and Rocky, wherever she is.
@@Lucifer-do7mf Yeah i thought the same... Not all birds wear a leg band, especially small ones. I hope this wasn't someone's lost bird that she decided to keep without even looking for the owner :/ Not sure why you wouldn't even consider the bird to simply be lost

Considering that this budgie was already so use to humans by how it reacted when it saw her I wouldn't say the budgie was abandoned but lost instead. Not all budgies have leg bands on them when you buy them.
None of my budgies have leg bands on them. Maybe he was lost because he seems to be so used to humans and that means the previous owner had him tamed. It's rare that people abandon a tamed budgie. The abandoned ones are usually untamed and the reason they are abandoned is that the owner gave up on trying to tame them cuz it took too much time.
Yeah, I reckon this Budgie escaped out of an open window. It happens all the time, especially when a dog or a cat or kid opens a door & doesn't close it. Brooke finding Baby was a great thing to happen. Also, Brooke is so adorable, type of lass I'd like to buy a drink for.

As long as the animal isn't abused(which CLEARLY isn't) you should chill tf out. She here doesn't say many details, we really don't know IF she tried to find the owner and used the leg band thing as last resort. At least the bird is happy and NOT dead, I'm 100% sure that the "owner"(assuming that it escaped) would be happier seeing that their pet is alive and happy than finding his lifeless body somewhere near the house.
My birds don't have leg bands and I would never abandon them. There are people that set them free, but he also could have escaped. Glad that he found a good home though.
People who set them free think they are doing something good but the truth is wild birds fear for thier lives all the time they sure do love to fly a lot but these people are just dumb. They even say the bird dying in freedom is better but it's actually dying with fear.
As a bird mom I this warms my heart. Regardless of what happened to him, be it abandonment or a previous owner losing him I am happy for them both. If one of my little ones flew away I would be heartbroken, but I would hope and pray that someone as kind and loving as this individual found them and made them a part of the family. All that matters is the bird's happiness and he is clearly happy with her.
OMG I'm crying this is such a great story. You're really blessed to find such a tiny loving creature in your life. I hope you enjoy him as much as he loves you.
I thought maybe too at first, but the band was missing, the only way i can see that being possible is if someone removed it so that when someone else found the bird they wouldnt be able to track the previous owners
I doubt he was abandoned but probably got out and got lost. He's really lucky he found you. From seeing how he is he was most likely hand raised and treated very well before in his previous home. You may want to see if somebody in the area has reported him missing.

@@graleh That rarely happens and doesn't seem the case here. Parakeets are extremely skiddish and it takes a lot of time and effort to train them to be friendly towards people, which this one seemed to be. Many don't have leg bands either, so it's not really indicative of anything that the parakeet doesn't have one. What likely happened is the little one escaped and became lost. They're highly intelligent and can be mischievous little escape artists.
@@graleh Sincerely doubt it. I am a long time bird owner/rescuer. Very very few people dump birds into the air. They usually take them to a shelter or leave them at the vet. This one was probably somebody's pet who flew out a window in a microsecond.
I don't know how that bird ended up alone in New York. I know the young lady saved his life, and that he's happy and healthy. The rest is useless conjecture.
He could have just got away & the leg band thing doesn't matter if he was home bred. New Yorks a big place full of sky scrappers he could have flown out of one of a million or more windows. He looked in good condition the kinds of people that abandon animals usually have birds that have stress pulled out half their feathers.
that is a very well-trained and well taken care of bird. the most likely scenario is that someone left his window open or didn't check for a second and he got away. a bird this tame definitely has someone looking for him because you just don't get those results if he has ever been misstreated
I am glad he found a living home, but not having a leg band means nothing. I wish she had at least made an effort to see if someone was looking for him. My budgies don't have leg bands...
I got my first budgie from a pet store (BAD idea, I will rescue next time) he has a green leg band on. Weren't flying yet, couldn't tell the gender of them. But they were best of pals they were, preening, feeding eachother. Etc. Anyways, I bought them. Took them home, anyways- sorry for my rant ANYWAYS they didn't have leg bands on. Actually- what was the point of this reply... wait I remember you said your budgies don't have leg bands. Yeah, anyways. Two of my budgies don't have leg bands either. Edit: I also see that, that budgie is VERY social, not scared of humans, sitting on her hand makes me think it was hand tamed.. definitely an escaped budgie, not an abandoned one. I hope this woman TRIED to find his owner's because if my birds escaped I would be heartbroken. Just like his owner's probably are.

This budgie is very friendly and trusts humans. This is probably someone's beloved pet who escaped by accident. My budgie doesn't have a leg band either but that does not mean anything. Some budgies have leg bands, some don't. It depends on the breeder and where you get the bird. She should at least try to find the original owner. It's great that she saved the sweet budgie, but I'd be devastated if my bird accidentally got out, someone finds and just keeps him.
And as parakeets are fond of their flocks, the bird could be happier with the real owner who propably has parakeets back home, as this one seems to be very well trained as it trusts human. That's a sign of a well kept and loved pet.
@moonstone.mp4 probably should have said that in the video. Judging by what she said at 1:26 and 1:30 it sounded like she didn't because she assumed it was let go on purpose and went ' yeah whatever, my bird now '
That's an Australian Budgerigar (miniature parrot). One of the most beautiful, friendly birds that come from the Top End, the Wetlands of Australia (the North). They live in a community of thousands.
Thank you so much for taking him home. Birds are awsome! When I was growing up my mom started seeing a green parakeet coming to the feeder. She would go out and made friends with him and was able to pick him up and brought him in. They are the cutest little birds and always make you smile.🥰
I rescue cats in nyc. I just pick them up of the street. Most i get adopted, 2 I've kept. Whenever you live there are little ones living on the streets and in the wild that don't belong there and need your help. You just have to go looking for them.
let me tell you about bird rescues!! most animals waiting for adoption are very friendly because they have lots of socialization in order to become more "adoptable", and even if they're not 100% free, the fees are usually small and go towards helping more animals instead of to someone's pocket. plus, rescues are a thousand times more thankful, it seems like they know what happened.
Great story; what a sweet bird; obviously was tame. Somebody probably missing him; nobody would abandon a tame bird; probably flew out an open window or door and lost direction then got scared. God bless you for saving him!

I doubt he was abandoned but probably got out and got lost. He's really lucky he found you. From seeing how he is he was most likely hand raised and treated very well before in his previous home. You may want to see if somebody in the area has reported him missing.
The bird is so lucky and the woman is so kind hearted 💖💖

Something tells me this was someone elses lost budgie. Now I am sad. A trusting budgie = usually a very loved budgie
Well.. ofc it was someone's pet.. they aren't wild in the US... (that is if she IS in the us) I always take dodo videos with a grain of salt because some are/can be definitely staged..

Or they just abandoned the bird..

Why would anyone abandon this adorable birdie? I mean like this has got to be the cutest parakeet ever! 🙁

But about a month ago, (I month after I got Kiwi, the first bird) I went to the same pet store for millet. They didn't have any, and I saw two baby budgies on the cage floor.
One of mine doesn't either.
exactly, what if this was some little kids darling pet that accidentally went out the window? that's a risk you take having a flighted bird and now someone out there misses their friend.

His head bopping is also his courting dance to her. He wanted her to basically be his mate. It's honestly so adorable.
That is typical of hand raised birds. They are very affectionate to people due to being raised by someone.
But he needs a parakeet partner.

No species of parrot is domesticated (including budgies & cockatiels). Some individual parrots are simply tame.
I had a green and yellow parakeet named Kimberly when I was 9 years old, back in 1996, Bronx NYC. It opened the cage door and flew out open a six story apartment window while I was in school. I never found out what happened to her. I hope someone as nice as this woman found it and kept it alive.

My budgie escaped two days ago. I hope I can find her or at least I wish she find people like you...
Exactly what i was thinking. Selfish to not find the owner. Especially after all the time she had him (which is quite long judging by his head lines).
And as parakeets are fond of their flocks, the bird could be happier with the real owner who propably has parakeets back home, as this one seems to be very well trained as it trusts human. That's a sign of a well kept and loved pet.
yeah it doesnt make her a hero
bunch of ASSumptions in here.
@moonstone.mp4 probably should have said that in the video. Judging by what she said at 1:26 and 1:30 it sounded like she didn't because she assumed it was let go on purpose and went ' yeah whatever, my bird now '
What a sweetheart, someone treated him with a lot of love to be that tame.
You should feel very honoured this cute little bugdie chose you! Sweet little fellow. Best of luck to you both.
Her life literally said: Here, a free, friendly parakeet! Could my life do something like that for me please?
I had that happen with one of my cats, she literally popped out of a bush and walked up to me.
Sure life has nice surprises in store for you too, although it might not be a bird 😊
