Joined by faith across casts, villages, towns, district and the entire state. People come for afar to enjoy the beautiful wedding of Meenakshi and Sundareshwar . Have to give the commentator / Nat geo lead for his wonderful attempt to stick to the real story, the people and getting the pronunciations right. That was a wonderful episode! Although, I felt that Lord Alagar deserved equal attention as Lord Meenakshi. As you aptly put it, the line between legend and history is blurry, leading to various stories about Lord Alagar's visit to Madurai. My favorite account is that Lord Alagar, being Lord Meenakshi's brother, travels to attend her celestial wedding but is delayed by floods at the River Vaigai. Unfortunately, the marriage proceeds without him, angering Lord Alagar, who returns home without attending.
According to legend, on his return journey, he stops by his Muslim friend's house.
Many of us still jokingly hold a grudge against Lord Meenakshi for not waiting for her brother ‼️😂🤣😂🤣

It absorb the cosmic energy, that's why gopuram have metals on top. Still many scientific reasons are behind it. I can't explain it here everything. For gopuram kalasa have seeds , rice , millets etc because if there is any huge flood or any big disaster, whole crop in field would get destroyed so they take those seed, grains from gopuram kalasa and do agriculture again. Neither DMK Govt nor ADMK Govt can even think of stopping Sanatan Hindu Traditions in TN Temples.
      1. There's huge Monetory advantage at the cost of Donors, undercutting HRCE Finances.
      2. They can't stop even if their handler missionaries force them to. There'll be a huge backlash against them.
      3. A primary example of how they stopped a huge festival is evident was in Tiruchengode. A semi-Fictious Vatican sponsored Book "Mathorubagan" endorsed by DMK/CONg eco system brought this age-old festival to a standstill.

There's a fundamental issue with this documentary. When covering the grand festival of Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, the focus should remain on vegetarian food. If you are closely involved with the temple and visit it daily, it's important to eat only vegetarian food and maintain cleanliness. Including non-vegetarian street food, like Madurai Bun Parotta & Chicken gravy etc., felt out of place and awkward in this context. It would have been better to feature such dishes in a separate video dedicated to Madurai's culinary specialties.

@@srinivasanpartha3826 Definitely not in Madurai Meenakshi Temple. Im well aware of the different Hindu cultures especially in Tamilnadu since I’m Tamil myself. Let’s not deviate from the above point. This is about Madurai Meenakshi and how the people worship the particular festival. I’m not here to preach vegetarianism or anything else.

@@waranmohanathasan Definitely not Madurai Meenakshi, do you know from when? From the era of Vijayanagar Nayak Kings rule. During the Pandya Rule they did Sacrifices right in the temple. Read and Understnsd History! Every Tamil temple was converted to this vegetarian nonsense claiming its pure. They literally whitewashed the actual Tamil culture.

Keep your santan Dharma things with you, this is indigenous festival. Almost all people in madurai make non-veg feasts in their home for their guests.

Excellent video, just one correction. Athens is the Madurai of Europe, not the other way around. Madurai existed way before the Greeks could even form a civilisation of their own. Odds are they copied this model from India, as with everything else they claim to have today
