Nope his acting is good and I like his character but the leading man is still the best ... no wonder The lead actor won the best actor award ... lee byung hun is superb in his acting.. especially on the last episode when he cried looking at the girl saying you should move forward and I will step back... my heart aches so badly when I saw his tears 😭

If you think about her character as metaphor for Joseon/Korea this becomes even more beautiful. Because his weaknesses is the same "country" that was for the Rich, that abandoned the poor but yet had so much beauty, strength and compassion for everybody. that failed, wasn't perfect but that he still would do anything to protect.
He's actually the reason why I watched this in the first place. And it was worth it! Just bravo! His acting different to what I've always seen him. Great Cast, Storyline, Romance, History, Action. EVERYTHING was just Great! 👏👏👏
I am truly rooting for Goo Dong Mae since the very first episode. Dong Mae loved Ae Shin the hardest and longest. He even fucking returned to Joseon just to be with Ae Shin. Although not profound, Dong Mae had always been beside Ae Shin. He was only waiting for the perfect moment to confess his feelings. He mentioned it to Eugene in the Glory Hotel, wherein Eugene cut through the line (men) approaching Ae Shin. He said he was not even given a chance of confessing and showing his pure intensions... love. The intensity of their gazes, and their chemistry is truly breathtaking. I know they will never be together, but it breaks my heart knowing Dong Mae poured his love and soul to Ae Shin just be crushed and not given a chance of showing his true feelings to the love of his life.
There were some complaining about how all 3 men sacrificed their lives for lady Ae Shin and were bitter about it. They must've have forgotten that all 3 of them were saved and helped by Ae Shin at some point of their lives. Dong Mae was saved when he was a child, Hui Seong was saved from a gunshot with Ae Shin shooting the enemies in the rooftop and she also helped Eugene at some point. She may have never romantically/physically been involve with them but you know she cares and consider them her comrade and special people. She even cared for Dong Mae when he was bleeding even when she felt bitter about what Dong Mae said to her that was etched and hurt her since childhood. Her love for her country and strong resolve and bravery is what made the 3 men fall for her. She was no ordinary woman. Even I would want to sacrifice myself for such kind of person.
Gu dong mae displays an incredible love and self restraint when in front of ae sin. An excellent acting performance, almost perfect. Till his final breath he is dreaming of her that you can feel his agonizing poignant emotions.

This drama was the first to ever give me Arranged Marriage, True Love and Forbidden Love. This drama showcased its "Love Triangle" beautifully, tragically and romantically and what made me love it even more was the fact that "All Three Love" ended on good/noble terms with our main female lead.
I got angry when all this men moved heaven and earth for her and all she thought about was her country 😳, all the men died protecting her and what did she do for them 😂😂? Anyway that was some parts but others showed how badass the female lead was with a heart of gold always ready to help those in need.

One of the most kdrama i've seen. This kdrama left the pains in my chest. Im in love with the storyline, the actors, chemistry, realistic, emotions, beautiful setting, ost... Dong Mae suffered the most and got the least from AeShin. He could not touch her, only the hem of her dress. He could only see her once in a month. Consumed by love for a cruel woman who thought him a villain and never gave him anything to satisfy his deep love for her. I hate AeSin for destroying two noble-hearted and deeply loving men. For what? Lost fight of a handful of rebels? Dong Mae deserved the most of her love. Eugene died in vain, he could have jumped back after dividing the two train cars. I did not cry for him, all my tears were for Dong Mae who had to suffer so much.
I think that if Gu dong Mae pushed her a little more, I’m sure she would give her heart to him. Definitely, she felt something for him but she wasn’t sure what it was or she was afraid of realizing
