One thing I love about the new way things are done because of the virus is getting to know famous cooking youtubers' home kitchens. It feels so personal and awesome.
Growing up in Metro Detroit I would eat this kind of pizza all the time and I only found out later on that they don't eat it like this anywhere else. Buddy's is a must if anyone visits. Shield's too.
Where I'm from they make something similar to this at a lot of places but no one calls it Detroit style. We just call it pan pizza. Same as NY pizza around here, it's just all called an extra large pizza.
Detroit style is SO underrated I love the crust and the pepperoni cups on a Detroit style. Got to try it on a spring break trip to Detroit in 2019 for a robotics competition and loved it. The pizza is even better with a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey, which is natural honey infused with chilies
I would 1000% avoid Cheddar on a detroit style pizza because it goes acrid when it's burned. I know this from experience! Absolutely amazing when you use Mozzarella though (and being from the UK I can't try out Wisconsin brick!).
It's not custom, I have one that I got a few years ago on Black Friday. They're probably uncommon but I bet if you looked around online you'd find one pretty easily
oh fantastic timing! Was just watching a video this afternoon about a Faraday cage and i thought about the delightful Farideh, and here she is a few hours later making pizza! My Sunday is complete! Thanks Munchies!
Made the pizza last night, but with my favorite vegetarian toppings and canned cherry tomatoes standing in for the sauce. It’s very good. I’m a New Haven pizza person, though, and prefer that take on pies. But I was curious about the hype surrounding this style and had been gifted a proper pan, so I gave it a try. It’s easy enough with a stand mixer, though mine isn’t nearly as cool as Faridah’s, and the crispy, lacy cheese on the edges is definitely the best part. It was tasty, had a nice chewy texture, and very filling. I still prefer the thinner crust and minimalist toppings that define New Haven pizza, but this was a nice change and I’d definitely make it again since I have the proper pan.
So far from these comments, I've heard of Buddy's, Shield's, and now Loui's. Making a mental note of all these places the next time I pass through Detroit.
I'm from NYC as well and I got mad as hell when I heard it. Not everyone here is that conceited as to think if it's not trending in the city then "people don't know about it".
Cooks amazing food, has a personality anyone with a personality can love. Cutie-patootie, to boot. We're lucky af to have this lovely young woman teaching us some kitchen skills...
Detroit-style Hawaiian BBQ pizza. Same dough as in the video. Controversial topping.... the pineapple (raw or pre-seared, then cut into chunks or left sliced as rings). Ham..... or even SPAM. Maui onion. BBQ sauce... mostly pineapple based, cut with some tomato puree. Cheese... a blend of Hawaii's favorite (manchego), and cubed mozzarella. Final optional garnish, cilantro leaves (corriander) or Hawaiian basil. Extra: blanch Hawaiian basil in boiling water for 30 seconds. Shock it in ice water. Drain and dry with paper towel. Blend with extra virgin olive oil. Dot or drizzle on top of pizza.
I’ve been making Detroit style pizza in your average lasagne tray. Wilton’s makes an awesome nonstick lasagne pan $10. A lasagne tray is 9x13, I don’t alter the recipe at all. My pizzas come out amazing.
I made yesterday Swedish style banana pizza, with Pinello´s recipe for batter and tomato sauce, ham, cheese, banana and curry on the top. I know that sounds weird, but it´s really delicious. Also with Banana pizza you can use chicken instead of ham.
I've never had Detroit pizza but this seems like how my grandfather described Pizza when he was overseas in world war II. Nothing fancy but very delicious
First time viewer of this chick and she is a beauty !! Well done you certainly have natural flair, personality and work well with the camera - one of the networks needs to employ her if they already haven't !!

Next time I'm down in the Windsor area, I may be tempted to cross the border over to Detroit just to try some delicious pizza! Thanks for the tip man.
Try Cloverleaf - They "claim" to be the oldest, and in my opinion, they are the best. Their bread also DESTORYS the aforementioned.

Detroit pizza is so good, there is a Jet's near my apartment. They deserve to be bigger than the chains
I was also thinking this is just like Jet's which is very good. This is just missing the "turbo crust."
If you know, you know!
Jet’s even has a good bbq chicken pizza!
A jar of peppercinis with any pizza is a must. Take bite from pizza then from a whole pepper. Best combo ever.
Agree
that blacked out Kitchen Aid mixer with the matching tank is so cool, I love it
Thanks for putting more people on Detroit style pizza is so fire
as someone from michigan, dibs on all four corner pieces
She looking hella good
I know right? I think she lost a bit of weight, too. She fiiiiit.
Right?!? I was looking for this comment.
She looking better than that burnt crust. Except her jeans... Those suck.
I like the 80s mom jeans.

its called the black tie edition. texture like cast iron. 200 made per run. 200 in 230v and 200 in american i believe. was around 700 ish retail

I’ve been there once and of the three original Detroit style pizza places, Loui’s was disappointing - was i supposed to order it “well done”?

If you are making a Michigan BBQ pizza then you must use open pit brand BBQ sauce
I worked at a Noble Roman's in Indiana in the early 90's and the Sicilian Pan Pizza they had was made exactly like that so it wasn't stuck in Detroit
