- While I'm still waiting on base game bug fixes and fixes for broken build mode and gameplay from packs like the for rent expansion pack, we just got new leaks for brand new paid content coming to sims 4- not full dlc but rather two more build buy kits. Here is a preview and preview of the new items, my personal opinion and my opinion about upcoming expansions or game packs as we await an official road map for sims 4 in may 2024.

EA is definitely lazy/frugal with implementing more animations for the game. I would have loved new stuff for the pool (think foam noodles, inner tubes, pool beach ball). But no, it's the bare amount of innovation for the same pricing.🤨
exactly. it's not even that this looks "bad" by itself, I just don't.. get it? If you're going to do a pool kit, add a little something that we don't have, something to add some reason to want to use pools more. I mean.. I do get it, but it's a shame
@@SimmerErin Yes I agree, it just feels so uninspired given what could be added to the game. We're now at the point where we're just rehashing previous ideas with only a slight spin on them.
As much as I agree I would imagine the animators aren’t even involved in making the kits and for a big company as EA with rules and regulations needed to be followed by the teams it would likely be a big hassle to get them involved. But yeah it would’ve been cool
Kits won't have items that require new animations while using it. If they do they'll charge us $20 for that lol.
I can even foresee things can be functional will end up being decorative.
@@puan1211 yes, I do believe that is the unfortunate and practical reality. I think I wish they'd done a stuff pack instead- I should have been a bit more clear
with a kit, at most, you may get some items with animations and the same functionality that already exists in some way in the game
I think the little French café kit looks cute -- though I am not sure we need more bar variants in The Sims 4, and I do know that the community will be upset by "Dine Out" related objects and gameplay while that pack remains quite broken!

@@SimmerErin It should also be pointed out that the "café" lot is still locked behind Get Together. Maybe they will be making this lot type part of base game? Or making Get Together free for all?
@@AABuilds they might have a café unlock coming with the kit, to allow more players using it without splurging out on Get Together.
I'm not surprised we get a leak. I think the Road Map is going to be next Tuesday. The Pool kit is something that looks nice but it's underwhelming so is the Dining Room kit. I'd be more excited if the Pool Kit was a stuff pack. Yet, I dissed the Party Essentials Kit and ended up buying that one because it did have appeal.
I just ugh- like I think the idea of a pool kit is decent, but I don't love the direction they took it. I agree a pool stuff pack would be better- you could have need actives, pool games, all sorts of things.
@@SimmerErin exactly! The stuff pack can also offer a gameplay item like a pool bar or water volleyball. But again it’s unconfirmed and I guess we’ll find out Tuesday. Have a great weekend, Erin 😊
Kit #1 looks like Desert Luxe kit, or the multiple stuff packs about the outdoors.
Kit #2 looks like leftovers from Dine Out.
Been there done that. It's all to similar with the packs we have seen before.

I would say the 2nd kit has some Get Together recolor vibes, especially the coffee machine.
Which brings on the debate are these themes broad that yeah it'll feel like leftovers because people think this stuff should have been in XYZ. Also to me it adds to the debate on pack integration even for the kits.
I don't agree they look like leftovers nor do I think they are. But do I agree that the concepts aren't very innovative? for sure. I feel like they are purposefully playing it very safe, keeping things bland with a seemingly universal appeal but without much new or much personality
@@SimmerErin I don't mind board themes, but the designs of the items are just.... uninspiring. That being said no matter what complaints we have for the kit EA will still make a lot of money out of it.
If they're including a pool floatie with the pool kit, I think that is kind of nice. To the best of my knowledge, pool floaties only come with Island Living and For Rent - so at least players have an option to get pool floaties into their games without shelling out $40 for a (potentially broken/buggy) expansion pack. And if the dining room (cafe? bar? bistro?) kit does include actual booth seating, that would be nice - we haven't gotten any additional booth seating since Dine Out. I love to build in the game, so seeing these kits make me feel cautiously optimistic.
Pool Basketball would be so cool. Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark has a pool with basketballs and goals to shoot them in.
This would probably be easy for Maxis to intergrate since we already have basketball in the game.

Kits are so boring!! I'm so underwhelmed by that selection for the price. That dining kit feels like a jazz bar, I do like the vibe.
there are a few I'd say are at least a fair bit more interesting.. but in general, I've felt many have been meh. even when they collab: I like them collabing but I get the impression said creators make a few items or so.
Right! Leave the kits to the CC creators and fix the game’s FOUNDATION: Brokenness, Bugs, stability, the gallery, gameplay, quality of life, and lacking features. Also get rid of the shop bottom in-game ❣️
The second kit isn't THAT far away from the better types of concepts for kits. It's highly thematic, which is what I want for these tiny bits of content. I don't want another bland kitchen or something. The idea of creating a classic French café (but having assets that can work in a restaurant, a dining room, etc.) is much more interesting than "well, you guys wanted bathing suits, so we threw together a few weirdly shaped designs". To me it feels cohesive, specific, and versatile at the same time. If I bought kits, I'd be game for that.
Would I want them to push the envelope even further ? Of course ! But I have more issues with the "bunch of pool-adjacent stuff" kit.
For me, the pool kit is kind of a bummer cause we got poolside slapsh kit and not a build mode pool kit so it probably means we won't get a pool activities stuff pack or something like that.
yeah, I'd say there's a lot they could have done- especially if they expanded pool and water activities into a stuff pack
I'm more likely to buy the dining room kit, probably not ever the pool kit. Won't be rushing to get even the one I like more, but probably will eventually. It feels like they're not trying too hard to tempt us, but they sometimes end up with a miss even when they are genuinely trying (the bust the dust kit as the top example). There must be enough obsessive builders to make these worth it for them.
I'm guessing especially with the influx of more players when the game went free to enter that kits sell fairly well, and prob bb sell better if I had to guess
One or two of those rocks look like the TS3 Pool Waterfalls.
Lets hope that the second kit is a sign that big fixes are coming for Dine Out. Edit: I actually really like both of those, I am a builder, though. Ill definitely be getting both if they are real.

Wow, and this is why I am sad and kind of in my own lull with the game as someone who went from buying everything immediately to someone now who hasn't purchased anything at all since the Fall of 2023. Every time I open my game and try I just don't have that same sense of excitement I once did, I may build a little but I never finish anything anymore because it just doesn't feel the same anymore and there's so many glitches even now in build mode and some that haven't been fixed in years like terrain paint... Neither of these leaked kits is ground-breaking let alone imo worth it. Most of this is stuff we have already in game just maybe in different swatches, but we do have most of these items in a form currently. I really hope this turns out to be fake leaks because if this really is supposed to be the beginning part of these new releases/content for Sims 4 I would say the creativity and burnout of the Sims team is now showing and it IS now just a money grab. Like you said where's the pool slides? where's the pool stairs? Rocks stairs for pools verse actual rocks? A hammock, pool toys I mean I can think of a lot of other items we do not have yet in game! The only newer pack I am semi interested in is the crystal one because I like crystals IRL. As a builder, the For Rent EP piques my curiosity due to the ability to make actual apartments but no one seems to care to actually fix that pack so I am holding out for half off at minimal to purchase that. And they tend to release EPs with mechanics they can use for another alteration... I would assume hotels would be able to use a similar system but since they can't be bothered to fix the actual mechanism it's killing the hopeful for hotels vibe all together. It's just broken, upon broken, upon broken at this point. I was really hoping maybe like everything in life the game just hit a lull, a rough patch, and would suddenly spring back to life. That EA would realize their mistakes, especially for it being such a popular game and give it the resources it deserves and fix their game for all players and start coming out with some much better content and some newer things not seen yet. So far this year is quite boring and even trying to get excited about new content whether that be hotels, bands, etc. I just worry it will be disappointing and not meet expectations because it just feels like at this point we have to just settle for mediocre. I miss my game. I want to feel excited again about it and feel like us OG players also matter even if we are older and that the community as a whole is being heard. So many promised things still that never came to fruition as well, including better communication! This game could still be great with the right resources directed at it, bug fixes taking center stage, utilizing more cross pack compatibility, taking more risks in terms of giving us some more adventurous, different never seen before type packs exploring more cultures and little things like giving sims accents to change up voice options and even just unlocking waters in Granite Falls and Brindleton Bay and adding rock climbing into Granite Falls or even the hike together option that we already have in game now would make differences! Just seems like so much wasted potential.
The For Rent system wouldn’t work for hotels, you’d have to go through a loading screen for every room. Something more akin to the roommate system from discovery university is closer to useful for hotels as long have doors you can assign to a guest, which wouldn’t be that hard of a build off the locks and bed assignments system they have in game now. Ideally you’d maybe want to be able to assign maid service to the building and have other services you could provide onsite besides a room and a bed.
Ironically, you could do this in Sims 2!!! You could go on vacay and get a room in a hotel, call for room service. Despite it being closed world, no loading screens between your room and the hotel at large, only when you explored the island or whatever. You could even cross paths with other guest whos rooms were not behind loading screens. But there were actually activities to do at the hotel without leaving the hotel lot so no loading screens. You could go learn like hula dance and get a massage or play on the beach at the hotel.
@@TheDawnofVanlife Sims 2 is the best version of the Sims thus far imo I agree I loved that pack very much and you had three distinct locations to choose from and true, real buffet table lol The University system is a good idea as well... of course I would dislike loading screens but it is Sims 4 so I feel like they would somehow combine both mechanisms (University and For Rent) and I completely agree a true real hotel resort pack wouldn't feel complete unless we can have multi lot features like a spa, restaurant etc all working on one lot. So I guess for Sims 4 it is a big ask even though like you pointed out it was done pretty successfully years and years ago! :) Sims 2 Vacation in terms of Sims 4 would be spread out over 3-4 packs and 4-6 kits minimum 🤣
Don't they usually pair build kits with CAS kits for release? I don't really see anything I would regret not having, though they will probably both make it above the Party Essentials kit on my list, which means not dead bottom.
usually, yes, but I think they have released too build kits together before so I do not think it's unprecedented
I feel like I would never know I had these kits if I bought them, so I just won’t. If there was a CAS kit I would probably buy it

There are cc pool slides and other pool items. Why cant maxis give us more pool items with gameplay?

while we're on kits: a few weeks back they announced that we would get that one kit for free (the plant one) but it wasnt at that point yet. does anyone know if that happened? i feel like i totally missed it (would never say no to free stuff lol)

So The sims team still haven´t learned how to avoid leaks. the good thing is that it looks like nothing that would cause buggs. but I don´t know if we realy need more poolstuff.
I'd be all down for pool things that added more activities- but I'm not super into needing more poolside furniture
Avoid leaks, these always conveniently come just on the eve of announcements. Its not an accident.
I don't see many functional items in these kits except for the pool latter (duh), the bar and the coffee machine... the party essentials kits honestly felt more worthwhile
I don't see any wow factor in either kit. The stuff is nice IMO but not really anything special - it's safe. Not that it needs to be special but beyond the specific themes, I don't see anything to pull others in if you don't want pool or vintage content.
Also, another leak? Even though I believe it's deliberate marketing by EA, if it's not they are definitely not doing anything to stop these leaks. No company as big as them would allow this many, for this length of time and they certainly have the resources to put a stop to it.
I've already given my opinion on the leaking on purpose theory, so you know where I stand.
I get what they are doing with the themes yeah playing it safe, but it is really starting to add a very bland feeling, you know? I just feel they could do so much more
@@SimmerErin Yeah, I don't recall exactly what your thoughts are on leaks but I believe it's one of the areas where we disagree a bit. I just can't see a way that EA would have continued allowing them to happen if they didn't want them too.
Anyway yes, bland, safe and boring, like they don't want to take any risks or try anything a little bit more 'out there'. I know neither of us likes kits but they really could be put to good use (and offer more value) by trying something different. Then if it doesn't work, it's not a huge loss for them and they'll know not to try that again.

Café and restaurant items are useless if Dine Out doesn't ever work.
maybe I've gotten lucky. dine out is messy, but I don't have issues much (I have gotten food late) OKAY though caveat is I only am talking of my experiences eating out TBH I do not touch the career, cause I don't want to mess with that
@@SimmerErin I imagine the more packs you have, the more bugs you get. Though I consistently hear the same complaints of people getting their food too late or not at all. As for the career, it's unplayable without Carl's mod.

When I see this I think who the heck is buying these kits for real? and cc creators do way better in the stuff they put out than whatever EA is doing. It’s all garbage. I’d rather use cc than that basic stuff 🙄 if modders and cc creators didn’t exist, I wouldn’t play the Sims.

A pool cas kit and now a pool build kit?? I don't understand why they couldn't have just done a pool stuff pack which would have bb, cas and new pool gameplay which would be the same price as two kits.

I think it's good because people who can't afford to purchase much content get new free updates without feeling much pain, subsidized by users that purchase those items. I see it as a very positive thing, actually. 🤔

i think if they'd included a slide, it would be a new animation and considered a 'hero item' (as Carl calls them). Thus, it'd be a stuff pack and not a kit. I agree these are not exciting. I'm still hoping some dlc will be free soon. 🤞🏾
yea tis true. With kits, at most, you'll get something with reused animations (think little campers kit) but I can't help but imagine what could be
I like the idea of a pool kit but I think the pool and outdoor area needs its own big rework like a game pack or if we want to go full out there a expansion pack with new careers that relate to swimming, life guards and other things
yeah, I think one could do more gameplay wise with pools. I get it: they chose to make a kit, and kits won't have that, but I agree you could have careers, classes, etc

These packs honestly feel very lazy to me. There’s nothing I feel like I NEED from either. The fact they can’t figure out a simple pool kit is pretty sad, most of us could do that in our sleep. And FOUR ROCKS?! Are you kidding me??

When you said (and I may be slightly misquoting) "a pool ladder is a pool ladder" I was thinking "yes, a pool ladder IS a pool ladder - and who the hell gets excited by a new shiny pool ladder??". LOL well you should have heard my commentary when kits first came out, I wasn't very diplomatic. I just don't get very worked up over them. And I'm also in a weird, mellow mood.
I expect leaks, but did not think one would happen this afternoon and I kinda looked at it and was like Um ok.
Seeing what's in each, if you've got several packs, you probably have many of these items in different swatches (coffee machine). The rocks do look nice. As usual, I'll take a wait and see to truly decide. Thanks for the news!

I'm curious to aee what the theme for the roadmap is as we will probably get an expansion either romance or resorts. I would prefer a pool or waterpark stuff pack, but its EA, so I'm not suprised!
do you know where the romance pack rumors started? cause I've seen many say so.
*now, the official 2020 survey does have a "Modern Love and Romance" theme so it's not as though I'd be shocked
@@SimmerErin I'm not sure, I watch fantayzia and I think SimMattically said teased some ring emojis and said it would be a 40 dollar expansion. I also think it is from romantic garden coming out for free a few months ago.
First kit 1 will be accused of being leftovers from a few packs wgen i thibk pools os another broad focus. Kit 2 is interesting. More imaginative is another debate. I'm not sure uf I'd use either kit but still not thinking kits are crap. Good for those who are interested.
TBH I get why people say such things, but I almost never agree that they are actually leftovers. In any case, I think it's more them playing it safe. And like I have said before, there is a degree of interesting conversations to have about: people buying this instead of other packs, wanting things to go with other things etc vs feeling fresh in concept
Wow, they could've done better with the pool themed kit. Another missed opportunity to add functional water slides and diving boards. At least that kit will add a new pool trim and tiles. The second kit seems so bland, it's not worth mentioning.

I like the dining room aesthetically as I actually have cc that looks like it (funny enough I am currently building a fake restaurant in my game with that particular aesthetic). I'm making my restaurants somewhat functional thanks to mods and lots of imagination. If I didn't, I would be very tempted to buy Dine Out though it is a broken pack or Get Together (that I already have). Right now the café kit feels like an incentive to buy Get Together or Dine Out. The Pool Kit seems to be an answer to the disappointment of the poolside splash kit but honestly, those two pool themed kits should not have existed and a game pack with new animations should have been added... At this point I wonder if they strill have people to create new animations for them...

I amd a builder I'm also a CAS simmer, and I like kits but I'm going to be honest my first thought when I saw this was "who would buy this?" this didn't wow me either. I do wish we got a CAS kit too
they just seem lackluster. It kinda feels like they are playing safer and safer
With the way Xbox is going, I don't think that this "kit" would be available for the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S. Too many studio closures and the decline of the Xbox brand has put me in a not-so-good mood.

Pool build kit adding in a pool ladder but not a pool slide nor a diving board!? I know Get Together came with a diving board but it's alright, there should be a diving board that is like ones from Sims1 and 2. Sims 4 really been failing us Simmers!
I don't expect much from kits, but Ive long felt a pool stuff pack- vs non functional items- is what would probably the best use of the theme
They COULD have added a bit MORE to it. Like for the pool part thry COULD have added to the kit a diveing board. Like how the Sims 3 has one. We don't really have a actual diveing board in Sims 4. We didn't even get one in base game.

I kind of like the gazebo from the pool kit, but I'm also a pretty big sucker for a good gazebo. The rest seems a bit meh to me though. I want to like the dining room one, since I general prefer more traditional and antique-y styles, but it also doesn't really wow me.
Honestly though, most kits don't really wow me. I feel like they're just to small with too little room to really do much to feel cohesive and like it actually is doing something. I would almost rather just have something like the sims 3 store, where I can buy a single individual piece that I like, than a bunch of things that i only kind feel meh about in addition to the one or two things I actually want.

when they were first announced i kind of thought the point of kits was to do more niche content that they didnt want to take as much of a financial leap on by making a full stuff pack out of them, and it's still really disappointing to me that that isn't the direction they took them. it really just feels like they wanted the income from stuff packs but didnt want to spend as much money making them
yeah it seemed at first like they were saying kits would be small bits of content that wouldn't make sense for larger themes- but it obviously didn't become that

Are we sure these leaks aren’t fake? They look so similar to items already in the game. The kits also look random.
they're leaks, so always treat them as leaks until 100 percent confirmed!
This person has leaked content correctly before and I don't see immediate red flags, but not going to say there are confirmed when they are not
I think one of the problems I have with kits currently is how they go for the matching aesthetics rather than give us variety under the theme. So many of us would gladly take a bedroom kit with maybe three or four bed and nightstand sets with minimal accessories. Or for a pool set, we’d rather have things like floaties, pool nets and dividers or related pool clutter in a variety of swatches. I do like that they’re including a new ladder and pool edges, though.
And I don’t understand why the bottle for that bar/cafe set doesn’t have more swatches. Hopefully they add more.
yeah I could see that. They are doing a decent job imo In covering swatches and such, but the breadth isn't great. It's tricky, since kits are so small

fairly typical. as someone pointed out to me, you aren't going to get new functionality in a build kit

These packs are pure laziness. The mod community has given us so much more and it's tiring.

If you had to design a bb kit, what would you do?
@@SimmerErin I don't mind the themes they've chosen. Any theme could work and could also be repeated ( ie we have many kitchens and still want more.) In this case, I think the kit wasn''t conceptualized well, or not enough imagination was put into it.
I think kits sometimes contain B&B pieces that didn't make the final cut from a larger pack.
I agree with your assessment about them not taking risks. These kits add nothing new or lack a "wow" feature to entice buyers, especially myself. I like buying kits if I think they'll add something new to my game, but with these kits, I don't see any reason to buy them. The items look rehashed/I can find similar elements already in-game.
To be fair, I probably need to see the arquitectual elements better on a larger screen from my phone, but I think I've seen enough.
Ugh. I don't see anything I might "need" for my game (either for the pool or the dining room.) I'll probably buy them because I know the builders I download from will probably use them. I do like the idea of additional rocks. I'd have to see the swatches to know if I care about the other things. I agree they seem to be rather "risk adverse." Meh is a pretty good assessment of how I feel about these.
I tried looking at the "swatches" but I'm afraid that the pictures are too small to give me an idea of what they really look like. I want more closeup views!
why not just go in and replace the few items? half of what we get is similar to stuff in other packs anyway and that way you be to be a lil creative
by buying this, you tell them it’s fine and you’ll pay for it anyway. i’ve only just realised how the gallery incentivises others to buy packs
@@cryingwatercolours I have done that in the past. But that is far more annoying to me than spending a mere $5. I know that my buying or not buying the kit is not going to have sufficient pressure on EA to change their ways that I need to sacrifice my comfort. If I thought it would change EA's business model to hold off on buying content, then I'd hold off on buying content.
Just a friendly reminder: Giving EA money for kits that you are not thrilled about financially encourages them to make more future content that you won't be thrilled about either. Vote with your dollars (or lack there of), my fellow simmers.
@@MLadyAzzera That only works if you get sufficient people doing what you are talking about doing, which is essentially a boycott. The number of people who know about a boycott and actually do it is very small. While in *theory* what you say is true. In reality, it's a useless gesture. It's not nearly as powerful as actual votes in an election.
wonder why they would not release a unique landscaping kit? I feel that too would have a bigger wow factor
The packs aren’t bad, they just look a bit generic. The pool kit isn’t exactly what I wanted with a pool pack, I’d prefer like you mentioned stuff for in the pool like slides or pool noodles.

Both of these kits look boring to me as a builder. At least with the first several build/buy kits you could assemble a room/area with the items given, but these two new kits look like they were leftover ideas scraped together as an after thought, imo.

@@SimmerErin correct...I think these two new kits lack a cohesive collection of items. Take the Decor to the Max kit or the Country Kitchen kit for example; with these kits you could construct an entire room with just the kit items. To me, this is what build/buy kits should always strive to be.
I’m not buying anything from EA until they fixed the current bug situation. I’m tired of supporting a faulty product. I paid my hard earned money so I deserve a little satisfaction.

Dine out was released in 2016. Pretty sure it's not something cut out from 8 years ago...
Dine Out is from 2016 or so so I don't think that it likely- I also think the style is a fair bit different
