I know there's debate on what are the "essential" packs; Seasons is fundamental, Get Together is great, Parenthood gives family-builders so much to do. But if I could only have one pack, it'd have to be City Living. Something about San Myshuno just feels like home!
I hate seasons with a red hot passion and turn it off as much as I can. I don't get why sims are CONSTANTLY afraid of thunderstorms. If I could figure out how to turn off winter/summer I would. The only thing that happened is now I have to build greenhouses if I want a garden. Horrid!

Thanks for this! I'm trying to decide which packs are worth getting (even on sale) and this was extremely helpful. One thing to note though. The record player is in Modern Luxe because of the recent resurgence of vinyl. It was out of favor for 20+ years (with the rise of digital formats like the CD/minidisc and mp3 and then streaming) but in recent years, it has exploded in popularity (at least in the US). I think it's added to this pack as an acknowledgment of that.
Interesting, I hadn't considered it like that. And yeah I think it's an international revival, my collection of 70+ vinyls is looking at me from across the room 😂 I still think it's a bit of a mismatch in theme despite it becoming popular again in more modern times because it's still not really a modern luxury. I would say my favourite pack would have to be cottage living or Horse Ranch, I love blending these two packs together and living on a farm with farm animals. The horse girl in me loves it 🤍

I bought greenhouse Haven just for the screened windows and doors and I don’t regret it at all. Where I live screened porches are everywhere so I was absolutely giddy to be able to add that into my game.
My personal fav are packs like get to work or get famous because I love live mode and those gameplay features are super fun and engaging gameplay for me ❤
I like to have different styles of playing but the one that always repeats itself and is my favorite is cotagge living, it has so much content that I can always find new things
ooo i think my favourite pack has to be highschool years, its so interesting how you can actually play at school, we used to have mods to be able to do that so the fact that they included that feature is amazing
My favorite has to be Get Together!! Because I love that it has one of the biggest worlds with plenty of lots, as well as the club system which I use often (I also love the CAS tbh)
For me, I usually pass on most packs due to the price tag but if I had to choose a favorite it would have to be seasons. Weather definitely should have been a base game feature but it is one of the most essential packs if you’re going to get one. Between the new activities and the fact that it gives you an actual reason to change your sim’s outfits, it has to be one of the best expansion packs.
My favorite pack has to be pets, ive always loved pets. I had it for the sims 2, sims 3 and i currently have it for the sims 4 i remember making either my irl pets in the sims or making mlp horses in the sims 3

I have five and i recommend only one for full price being get together one being half off hsy,city living and romantic garden and one being if you really like it desert luxe
honestly, unpopular opinion, but I really like high school years, if it wasn’t broken as much as it is and they fixed the prom every week issue I’d enjoy it more. I feel like teens have more purpose now with the pack. They could have added so much more though so slightly disappointing. Get to work and discover university are my top to though. I feel the sims did well with those.

i’ve recently gotten back into the sims and as a family game player, growing together and parenthood are great packs, but i honestly love using the realm of magic gameplay!
Honestly, my favorite pack is paranormal stuff. It's great value for money, and it's got some of the cutest cas i've seen, and the build buy stuff is delightful! The new career is actually super fun, and the slight cross pack compatability with realm of magic is a nice touch
My favourite pack is eco lifestyle! I know a lot of people have issues with it and I agree that the neighbourhood action plan can be a bit annoying but once you clean up the world it’s so pretty. The build/buy is by far my favourite, I love everything about it and the crafted furniture is really good!
My all time favorite pack has to be seasons, such a simple pack but so impactful for the game, i find myself using the holidays alot! Plus who doesnt want snow??? 😂

My fav pack is Discover University. I've always loved the idea of sims getting college educated, live in dorms and cause drama. I like doing either a immigrant fish-out-water story line for uni or a elderly sim going to uni to hopefully redo their (mostly) bad life choices.
This is very controversial, but I actually like the vampire pack.. I use the decorations and interior of this pack a lot, and almost every vampire family I make gets a basement with trapped humans who they can suck blood from, wenehter they want 🥹🤡✨️

I know sometimes people can forget or overlook, but the "Get to Work" expansion has 8 lots, not the 3. There is 4 lots not 3 in Magnolia Promenade and there is lots for each career. The Hospital, Police Station, the Scientist area/site and then Sixam (Alian World).
True! I guess I meant it would've been cool to have a real commercial district map with more lots for more types of shops, a restaurant if you own dine out, etc. In the sims 3 if you installed a new pack it would ask you if you wanted to add an extra lot from the pack to the base world if there was an empty lot, that would've been super useful for the sims 4 given how many packs there are, and if there were more empty lots in MP that would've been really cool to expand on
@@Jaz_Sims I feel that a lot sims 4 content will never be on par with previous games and just hope with the next Gen (Project Rene) gives US Players more world building tools and so much more in base game than what Sims 4 Base game did. I appreciate you replying back.

i’m gonna be honest! i love the cottage living pack. it’s so hard to choose between it and growing together but i like the cottage vibes more, haha. as for kits, i think my favorite is also the little campers one! it’s very versatile :]
For me, my fave its probably get toghether and I actually find it really underated, since the world it comes with and the club’s gameplay are amazing tbh
My favorite pack is for rent ☺️ it makes the gameplay so much better. Starter sims can live in apartments and only pay rent and don’t need to “buy” a full house.
Favorite pack, even with the bugs, is FOR RENT! Hear me out: I play Sims for over 20 years now and had stretches where I was obsessed with the game(s) and stretches where I needed a few months break. I just came out of such a break and the pack that inspired me the most in the whole Sims 4 game was surprisingly For Rent! I am just so over the typical 'American Dream' play style I used to do - get rich, have the most typical family constellation, live in a huge house. Nah, For Rent inspired me to have my Sims live in nasty little apartments and suffer from all the things that go wrong in said apartments as blackouts and broken water heaters - I liked it even more than City Living apartments. For Rent inspired me to do my first legacy play, since I can have my extended family still live on the same lot just in different apartments, making me constantly have contact with the whole family - much easier than in a single home lot. They have to deal with annoying cousins, nosy aunts and overbearing in-laws now 😅 I also enjoyed the beautiful world Tomarang and the new culture that was introduced that once again was different from the many north american inspired packs before. All in all my recent obsessive phase of playing Sims hasn't slowed down at all since For Rent came out, all of Tomarang is already occupied by 'my Sims' - either direct heirs or friends close enough that I gave them CAS makeovers and also home makeovers, had them have back stories etc.
Personally, TS4 should’ve made Seasons some sort of kit or game pack (hell, maybe even base game) rather than a full on expansion as I don’t really think it’s big enough or has enough flare for it to be considered a large expansion. Of course, it’s very fun to play with, but the only features I’ve ended up using are the “what season do you want to play in” menu and maybe the cute actions you get to pick from that come with rain and snow. Also, EA really needs to work on the skin tones for the French nails thing. When I make POC sims and go to give them my classic outfit I give almost every sim when I can’t think of anything else, I notice how small the range is. The nails end up looking weird and unnatural on the sims with darker skin and sometimes they even look weird on my paler sims. They stand out like a sore thumb and don’t really give that pretty and classic look that French nails are supposed to give.

my favorite pack is movie hangout stuff😅... its so colorful n pretty n it rlly reminds me of my mom. she loves to thrift n buy second-hand and she LOVES colors. shes a walking rainbow fr. ive been working on filling up the lots in Newcrest n i find myself using movie hangout stuff n my mom as my foundations and for inspiration :)! so far, my Newcrest is populated w animals n animal lovers, and sim versions of shows my mom and i love to watch together. Jane Villanueva and Matteo are loving their next door cat cafe 😻!!

I remember sims 2 downtown. It introduced restaurants, clubs, bowling, cars. Ts4 gives less bang for your buck than any of the previous games

I know sometimes people can forget or overlook, but the "Get to Work" expansion has 8 lots, not the 3. There is 4 lots not 3 in Magnolia Promenade and there is lots for each career. The Hospital, Police Station, the Scientist area/site and then Sixam (Alian World).
True! I guess I meant it would've been cool to have a real commercial district map with more lots for more types of shops, a restaurant if you own dine out, etc. In the sims 3 if you installed a new pack it would ask you if you wanted to add an extra lot from the pack to the base world if there was an empty lot, that would've been super useful for the sims 4 given how many packs there are, and if there were more empty lots in MP that would've been really cool to expand on
@@Jaz_Sims I feel that a lot sims 4 content will never be on par with previous games and just hope with the next Gen (Project Rene) gives US Players more world building tools and so much more in base game than what Sims 4 Base game did. I appreciate you replying back.
My favorite pack so far is Cottage Living. I feel like the countryside vibe calms me down, plus I love the “living off the land” aspect

Favorite pack, even with the bugs, is FOR RENT! Hear me out: I play Sims for over 20 years now and had stretches where I was obsessed with the game(s) and stretches where I needed a few months break. I just came out of such a break and the pack that inspired me the most in the whole Sims 4 game was surprisingly For Rent! I am just so over the typical 'American Dream' play style I used to do - get rich, have the most typical family constellation, live in a huge house. Nah, For Rent inspired me to have my Sims live in nasty little apartments and suffer from all the things that go wrong in said apartments as blackouts and broken water heaters - I liked it even more than City Living apartments. For Rent inspired me to do my first legacy play, since I can have my extended family still live on the same lot just in different apartments, making me constantly have contact with the whole family - much easier than in a single home lot. They have to deal with annoying cousins, nosy aunts and overbearing in-laws now 😅 I also enjoyed the beautiful world Tomarang and the new culture that was introduced that once again was different from the many north american inspired packs before. All in all my recent obsessive phase of playing Sims hasn't slowed down at all since For Rent came out, all of Tomarang is already occupied by 'my Sims' - either direct heirs or friends close enough that I gave them CAS makeovers and also home makeovers, had them have back stories etc.

Personally, TS4 should’ve made Seasons some sort of kit or game pack (hell, maybe even base game) rather than a full on expansion as I don’t really think it’s big enough or has enough flare for it to be considered a large expansion. Of course, it’s very fun to play with, but the only features I’ve ended up using are the “what season do you want to play in” menu and maybe the cute actions you get to pick from that come with rain and snow.
Also, EA really needs to work on the skin tones for the French nails thing. When I make POC sims and go to give them my classic outfit I give almost every sim when I can’t think of anything else, I notice how small the range is. The nails end up looking weird and unnatural on the sims with darker skin and sometimes they even look weird on my paler sims. They stand out like a sore thumb and don’t really give that pretty and classic look that French nails are supposed to give.

My favourite pack is definitely horse ranch. I’m a big builder and I absolutely love the colours and details they’ve put into the build mode items. I also find that the clothing is SOOO sims 3 pets like and I love it.

my favorite pack is movie hangout stuff😅... its so colorful n pretty n it rlly reminds me of my mom. she loves to thrift n buy second-hand and she LOVES colors. shes a walking rainbow fr. ive been working on filling up the lots in Newcrest n i find myself using movie hangout stuff n my mom as my foundations and for inspiration :)! so far, my Newcrest is populated w animals n animal lovers, and sim versions of shows my mom and i love to watch together. Jane Villanueva and Matteo are loving their next door cat cafe 😻!!
