My leading theory is that they do this to keep the gallery pretty. If they gave people complete control it would look like chaos. Like, we used to be able to make some wild inhuman looking sims. Not anymore.
I find it funny their reasoning was "we don't want players to start over after a decade of gameplay" a decade YOU created and we WANT to start a new one finally. Give us the new game
Exactly, makes no freaking sense! This time we actually WANT to start over, but they threatened yet another decade. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. 😵💫
EA has their own language, so allow me to translate what they said for you :) "We don't want to use our money to make another game when we can just add infinite shitty packs to get money from a broken game" Cause sadly people will still buy these packs, especially content creators to test them out for viewers which only gives EA exactly what they want..more money..
@@iampersephone5532 Definitely use a cracked version, don't give these greedy devs anymore of your hard earned money. I made that mistake, luckily I haven't bought all of the dlc, I stopped 2 years ago and ran a cracked version, no way im giving this greedy company anymore money, especially when they wanna charge ridiculous amounts for shallow content.
Remember when people were unhappy about the underwhelming Sims 4 at release and said they'd wait until Sims 5, and a SimGuru said if people didn't buy Sims 4 there wouldn't BE a Sims 5? And now Sims 4 has been successful for a decade and.....there still won't be a Sims 5.
That was me. I played the demo in 2014 and decided to just kept playing Sims 3/Medieval. I honestly ignored the Sims 4 until 2017 when I happened to hear they added toddlers. I checked it out and the game had filled out a lot of basics so I figured I could grin and bear it until Sims 5. After all it was 3/5 years between release dates down. Because Sims 5 would be released around 2019 right.... 2020?.... After COVID?.... When the Sims 4 is a decade old and milked dry?...For the franchise's 25th anniversary?..... I truly never lost hope until now hearing this news.
We don’t even need an open world but at LEAST make it semi-open world?? I’m just sick of having loading screens everywhere, even to go to the neighbour’s house. It’s exhausting.
Most of the player base would move on to The Sims 5, because it would, in theory, be a better game than The Sims 4, but the fact that they wont even try is honestly embarrassing 💀The whole "we don't want to make players lose progress" is a bad excuse imo.
I wished they would've been at least a LITTLE transparent by saying something like "we know how much time and money you have spent on The Sims 4" or something along the lines of that. They can at least acknowledge their expensive game that's over $1,200 and the 80 DLC for it. Because alot of people who bought every single pack will find it hard to start all over again because of the amount of dollars that came out of their pockets for this game. But aside from that, ALOT of people actually want to move onto a new game but this is the hill they choose to die on... literally💀
@tiffanytho9676 A few days ago, the game just refused to launch. I went in and removed my entire mods folder out of the game but lo and behold that wasn't even the problem. It's the game itself🙃
@@end_of_eternityI don't think people would even be too mad as long as they didn't paywall basic things like seasons and pets in a new game. Like yeah, we spent money on Sims 4 in the past, but if they made it worth our while we'd invest in Sims 5 going forward.
This game will never be good. Its so broken, townies suck and are so dumb, half the packs are so broken. I'm so sick of new expansion packs and new content when most of them are so broken and unplayable.
The neighborhood stories don't work, my sims randomly got a baby, I got the adoption and pregnancy disabled and yet a baby appeared and now when I tried to give the baby away it got stuck on a loading screen... I probably lost my save file 😢
Let’s be real. It WAS supposed to be Sims 5, but people were dragging it so hard that EA and Maxis decided to change the narrative to save their asses.
It really makes me sad to think how downhill the sims has gone. I also feel bad for other fans of the sims that don’t have the kind of computer that can handle games like paralives. It just is sad knowing that it could have been incredible, but it’s not.
Inzoi has very high demands, but paralives is supposedly gonna be compatible with alot of older gen pc's. They are really trying to work on the optimization of the foundation within the game and trying to avoid high poly counts etc. So to avoid it being difficult to run!
sims 4’s whole point is that it is a light weight game originally built for online gameplay so it runs fine on most pcs. the limitations of sims 4 like no open world bad ai and no color wheel comes from that. sims 4 is a nice game and it would have been dumb if ea made a sims 5 when sims 4 works so well for what it is
@@togoxoThe problem is that it doesn't work well as anything at all. The game is a broken, buggy mess. If it worked well as an optimized game, then that would be fine.
@@togoxoSims 4 works well for what it is? Really? Even basic commands get canceled out because of the many bad coding in the game. the AI is ridiculous, just take a look at infants. The game is not good and that's that.
Personally I like making characters and playing as them which I why I play a lot of customisable rpgs, however there aren't a lot of life simulation games like the sims out there. If the sims had any sort of competition this franchise would have been dead a long time ago
I mean tbh, there is really nothing else like the Sims franchise especially if you like to create and rotate play through full neighborhoods and make a play full family. There’s other building games and other “create one avatar character” navigate the world games. But there’s really nothing else that totally functions like the sims. sims 4 is the worse of the series, but its the only modern playable game right now that does what it does. Sure us super fans can get Sims 1-3 playing well but if you want a zero effort download and to play a life-sim that’s not a farming game, Sims 4 is what you got. :(
i want more realistic sims, behaviours, gameplay, interesting content, creating worlds.. not a separate game just for mobiles and online, decorating and a pink door wtf
Yeah, you'll be better off with paralives or inzoi. I think the way the sims will differentiate themselves from those other two games is with it's cartoon style, throw backs, and silliness. (Paralives is cartoon too, but it's cartoon-cozy vs cartoon-silly. And I think their vibe is going to be much easier to take your time with an infant or plant seasons because they're making each piece of the fame so mindfully, it will feel worth while to do that. Whereas in the sims I'm periodically like, "crap, I haven't made a spaceship yet." So, I don't have emotional time for infant milestones. (Inzoi is going to be some silly chaos too, but it's more realistic im graphics which I think also makes realistic gameplay better). But the sims, I don't know, it's so chaotic that I feel like any level of realism feels out of place. Like plants should just have one growing season. Infants should have fewer milestones etc. for one thing walking is in real time even though the day is so much faster, so that alone is a reason not to over complicate any particular gameplay dynamic.
Agreed, I just don't know how they have sat there doing nothing for so long when other competitors are popping up in the market? I feel so upset as I love the sims but EA are slowly killing the game through their laziness. I will be looking to play para lives and inzoi and that's after being a player of the sims since sims 1 but the bugs and glitches are making gameplay enjoyment really challenging!
There is no Maxis any longer, not the way it was in the days of Sims 1 to Sims 3. They're fully part of EA, have been stripped down to the bones, and can't really work for themselves any longer. Maxis is in-name-only now, not a studio any longer.
I wish they would just remake/remaster/refresh the sims 3. That game was so great in so many ways. If they made the graphics and everything look better, make CAS as interactive as the sims 4, and make build buy as easy as the sims 4, maybe even sprinkle in some things from the sims 2 I honestly think it would be the best selling sims game of all time
Same but the thing is I don’t even think the new management understand the coding and structuring of previous sims game. A lot of the older developers, coders and programmers left after the great business shift from MAXIS to EA.
Accidentally got here early. If EA really wants to keep building on the sims 4, they need to do a comprehensive update and bug fixes. Just adding more and more packs when the game is fundamentally broken cannot carry the franchise for much longer. I am excited for the MySims remaster though
EA doesn't care about a few players leaving the Sims world. Most will continue to buy the new packs. As a FIFA player, I have seen nothing different in the last 10 years. EA is a money machine and investors continue to expect the usual income. Sims 5 is not in EA's interest at the moment
There is no way they can continue with The Sims 4 for much longer. By now, this game is comparable to a 20-year-old car. For everything they fix, they do more damage. The code is nearing breaking point with every new update and every new DLC. They need to let go, if they want to continue to milk the franchise. Sometimes, you have to invest, no matter what. Sometimes, you have to renew, at least to a degree.
I want more animations. Theres ONE cheerleadering routine. There's NO football soccer nor field games (love thr basketball). Wish builders would bother to put actions/rec in their builds.
@@reed5823it's called corporate, captialism and pubic trading. If you gotta better way for economics the entire world is waiting for your answer. Honestly.
if they had added color wheels back then, there would be no swatch updates for base game now. They would have come up with actually something instead 8,D
Exactly! I always say that listening to dedicated simmers get so excited about stuff like new swatches reminds me of listening to someone in an abusive relationship get so excited about their partner doing the dishes once, or not yelling at them for making a mistake... they don't even realize or understand that that's listerally what everyone else has in their relationship, only also way more. Just like the tiny things simmers get excited about are things every other game already does, but way more. Tbh, I didn't used to be much of a gamer, so I didn't always really understand this either. But my husband is an avid gamer and he absolutely hates the Sims because of how EA runs it. Even if he wanted to play it, I think he probably wouldn't just on principle.
a few years ago, didn't EA say "if you don't buy the Sims 4, you won't get the Sims 5". Now they are saying "cos you spend all your time and money in the Sims 4 we aren't going to make the Sims 5". That is blackmail, pure and simple. Some other legal ramifications present themselves too
@@amdl270 nothing lmao. 1. it is a large company, the law is on their side. 2. it's not like it was a specific promise they made, like x sales by y time will give the sims 5 in z timespan
@@amdl270 It forces someone to buy something, thereby forcing them into a contract (which what a purchase is) without them being in the full facts of the contract. It can be assumed there was duress into a purchase for the reward of a new game, which would never eventuate
I really want to know who it is in EA that keeps pushing for online multiplayer, because that person (or those people if multiple) need to GO. It's getting embarrassing, they are very clearly not understanding what their target audience is.
Exactly! They tried to make the new Dragon Age game a live service multiplayer at first. It's wild. Single player audiences want to play single player games. Not sure how many failures they need to see before that sinks in, but you'd hope they'd learn from Skull & Bones, Suicide Squad, Anthem, etc.
Well, Lyndsay Pearson became the TS team leader when TS4 was being created. So... probably her. -And there's probably some idiots at EA who has NO clue about the TS franchise that wants to force-feed online gaming to all their games on top of that.
All these gaming companies want a live service cash cow of their own like Rockstar has with GTA Online so they’ve been trying over and over again without thinking whether the game is suited for it
Gameplay of the Sims 2 Open World and Customization Options from Sims 3 Build Mode from Sims 4 ---It's not that hard, EA. This combination would easily sell a million copies overnight. I guess they just don't like money.
I keep thinking the team behind The Sims is entirely made up of businessmen who've never played the game and are completely detached from what their customers demand...
They only need to listen tho! It's true that prior sims games were made with love and honestly it shows. But sims 4 lacks more than that. It's soulless cash grab. They don't even listen the most repeated basic demands of their player base. Bc they don't care. Bc all this drama does not hurt their wallets. Yet.
The fundamental problem with new Sims sequels is that they always go back to complete basics. They don't build upon anything that has come previously. In fact in many ways we take several steps backwards. I shouldn't have to buys pets and seasons for every new game, it should be baseline as to what to expect. Unfortunately cooperate greed wins out every time.
I mean the power is in Maxis' hand to NOT do that. And I think they know they would have struggled send out a barebones Sims 5 that wasn't open world when InZoi and Paralives are both open world and set to deliver things like weather and cars as a basegame element. And, you know, they could just charge for the GAME. Yeah, you've pumped your numbers with free-to-play, it works, but the problem with free to play is you need enough whales buying everything to supplement the people who play for free and then never end up buying in. Sims cost money to make and maintain and what use to pay for that is BUYING THE GAME. Now that its free, they HAVE to sell the packs, the base game is just bait to sell packs which ultimately has made the packs more restrictive than before. They want you to feel like you've run out of things to do, so you'll buy something else.
@@TheDawnofVanlife I doubt the people who don't pay anything are impacting the game in any meaningful way. This isn't an MMO, where the company is paying to keep servers up. The people not paying are the same people who wouldn't be buying the product anyway. Yes, the company needs to make money, but they really don't need to offset the people who aren't buying anything.
The Sims2 & Sims 3 had far more gameplay than we have in Sims 4, it's is such a leap backwards and I just don't enjoy playing the Sims anymore. Build mode is great, but live mode just doesn't cut it compared to what we had in previous Sims games.
I played s2 a lot way back when it was current. Wonderful times and memories. Had a neighbourhood I build from scratch and filled it over 3 years with sims together with my sister. By the end we had graveyards, shops of all kinds (all of which were owned by a houshold and had employees from the town.) Restaurants. Apartments many self designed. A china town. A collage campus. Our main families were 11 and 14 generations deep. My second main family which started in the downtown map became very succesfull via casinos. And I made an entire chain of them each with a different theme. And we made many interconnected stories. S3 neighboorhood agkng wasnt for us so we couldnt play together anymore but we still liked it but in s3 zhere were so many rabbitholes and the lagging was insane. And by the end you couldnt rewlly play with all addons enabled. S4 was so lackluster. The build mode great but the live mod is just lifeless😢
I was so so upset... I was looking forward to a Sims 5 exactly because I'm not happy with Sims 4 so I had hopes they'd make a Sims 5 that was actually better than The Sims 3... to know they're not planning on making good Sims titles like the old ones anymore just makes me so sad T_T oh well maybe I'm just getting old HAHAHA
You deffiantly correct sims just dont care about what we want!and they deffinatly have the money to do a amazing game! But they just dont care about us😢
It definitely was going to be Sims 5 but after seeing Paralives grow, Life By You , and THEN INZOI dropped they knew they could not compete with the market for sandbox simulation anymore so they changed directions. (I also think EA was behind Life By You failing) but thats for another day hehe 🤭
i’m ready to move on from the sims franchise. EA is making it clear they are never going to return to the charm of sims 2 and 3. i’m so ready to see what other developers create so we can finally experience the future of life sim games without blatant money grabs!!
You know what I want in Sims 4? Sims I don't hate. The townies annoy me like crazy and even my own Sims don't feel the same like my TS3 Sims. Mostly because I don't understand them. They just do whatever they want but not what I tell them (autonomy is switched off btw) Anyway, you expressed my thoughts exactly. A new Sims game makes more sense than thousands of updates to a broken game...
Ive never once been able to trust my sims with an action queue and been able to scroll through all 8 before the first has canceled everything I wanted and is now doing random crap that's going to take them 25 minutes to stop.
@@Loralanthalas This!! Also, they almost never do actions the way I told them to, especially in social interactions. And then they randomly start to flirt to a stranger or want to fight with their partner 🤦♀️
I wonder how live service is going to work when everyone has their own combination of mods and packs. Like how am I supposed to see my friend playing in her island when I don't own island living?
oh no... That is probably why they want to do it, so if you want to play with your friend, you have to have the same packs. It will give you more incentive to get the pack your friend has.
If they were smart (they're not) they could make a meeting world, where you can send a household into project renew, and tour other people's houses and interact with other people's sims, but make it sort of a dream, so it doesn't have major effect on your main gameplay.
I think EA were most worried about Life by You and that's why they dangled Sims 5 in front of us. Now that LbY is cancelled, EA have dropped the charade.
Sims 3 would have been the better Engine to have made it as a 25 years + game, all they had to fix was the memory hog loop. Sims 4 base Engine is a terrible base. It wasn't made for what they turned it into, which is why it started off so poorly.
my sims still choose to walk across entire 50x40 lots to take a dirty food/plates to the bathroom trash bin despite there being a perfectly good dumpster not even 4 steps away from where they were so like... they can add whatever they want onto it, but the game is still so abysmal and the sims coding is still genuinely helplessly stupid. until they tell me they overhauled the ai/sims behavior entirely, i'll never be able to play more than a few hours of sims a month before pulling my hair out and leaving to play another game lol.
I had to give up on sims autonomy for Sims 4 - just turn it off and accept that I have to micromanage everything now. 😢. Still doesn’t stop the townies from acting like idiots though.
No mater how many frosting layers you add, if the cake under that frosting is mouldy, it'll still be a mouldy cake in there. EA need to rewrite the source code of The Sims4 from the ground up. Doors and windows desperately need a dual colour swatches system : One set for the inside and one for the outside. Each independent from the other. Beds, chairs and couches also need a dual swatches system : Structure and cushion/mattress.
It’s kinda of sad.. bc with the sims 2 and sims 3 I used to play all the time for hours and never got bored.. but with the sims 4 I get bored.. and it’s such a money grabber.. I hate it. Like what happened? Why is sims 2 and sims 3 way better than the sims 4?
I love how there is this topic of “starting over” with pack in a new sims game when they could literally just add all the previous pack features into the base version of a new sims game. Crazy to me how The Sims have warped peoples mind into thinking they absolutely have to pay for every single feature.
@@limegreendaggy6506 all facts. Need to start doing built in seasons, pets, and careers bc why wouldn’t a life sim have these very realistic aspects of life in the base game 🙄
Instead of adding all those swatches, they could've just as easily added a color wheel, and I think there's actually a mod that adds one, so it actually is doable.
I'd be happy if Maxis took Sims 1 or 2 and gave it Sims 4 graphics and build mode. That's all they really need to do for a hit main game 😭 I've been showing my kids sims 1 & 2 to my teen kids to compare to sims 4. Even they're shocked at the quality drop.
I used the sims 3 to test what my real life wallpaper options would look like up on my walls. I used it to pick a real life wallpaper pattern. It was amazing. The sims 4 could never.
When you look at communication with investors all that matters is profit. They don't look at what people are complaining about on RUclips and Twitter. The Sims 4 is the most disliked Sims game ever but it's very profitable and it's in the end pretty smart of EA. A base game that is so boring, broken and unambitious, you will want to buy all the DLC just so your game has a bit of flavour. They are like those phone sex line operators, they will keep you hanging so you spend more money. I swear EA has been edging us for 10 years and we are so desperate for fun we stay.
Yep. I started playing when I came across a RUclipsr I used to watch who does Sims stuff. It looked fun. Then I installed it and found that the game was unplayable. Dozens of mods and a few expansion purchases later, the game is finally playable.
If EA honestly wants to keep The Sims 4 as a main title game they should consider what we have up until now "Legacy Sims 4" and focus on updating the core game to include the features Simmers desperately want, like... Open Worlds, Create a World, Colour wheels, Smarter Sim AI. If they can do this and Rebrand the Game as "The Sims" I think that's the best-case scenario for the path they've laid out for themselves.
The problem is, if they really stick to updating the Sims 4, they’re still severely limited in what they can change about the game. If they remove or alter the base code to make it functionally better or allow for features that previously weren’t possible, everyone’s saves are gonna break. Not that saves don’t already break sometimes, but literally nobody’s saves would be playable anymore. And considering their main reasoning for not making a new Sims being that they “don’t want simmers to have to start over” (even though I don’t buy that), it would be a really bad look if everybody’s saves were suddenly unplayable. It’s also a TON of work. So much work that you’re basically creating a new game at that point, which EA obviously wants to avoid
Open world on TS4 engine will never happen, it’s impossible. The best we could hope for is lighting/shade fixes and a couple of new hairs. Anything that can be done to this outdated buggy bloatware has been done by modders. If it weren’t for mods and the extensive modding community TS4 would have died at launch.
Sims Mobile is a failure in and of itself, much like the two previous times EA has tried to cram multiplayer down the throat of this community. Sims Mobile was released March 6, 2018. EA announced they would no longer be doing updates for Sims Mobile on Jan 29,2024. My theory is they stopped bothering with Sims Mobile with Project Rene being a Sims Mobile replacement. If this turns out to be the case, good luck to anybody trying to play it. If Project Rene is being built on the Sims Mobile frame, it is going to be stupid expensive and full of bugs. The last time I did the math for a single Sims Mobile "campaign", it was over $80.00.
Laura Miele said that they wanted to keep the sims 4 going for maybe 15 years. I'm not sure what happened over there that just made them give up on working on The Sims 5. But I seriously want them to reconsider. Jake Solomon (known for the xcom series) recently created a new studio that Grant Rodriek (formerly known as simgurugrant and was also responsible for Rene) joined where they aim to create a new life sim game. And with unreal 5 offering so much potential for life sim games that we have seen with InZoi other developers could soon start to work on life sim games. Meanwhile EA are going to try and appeal to the mobile market with Rene which is a completely different market. I would not be surprised if they are going to fall back to the sims4, investors are gonna wonder what on earth they are doing (because they can't grow the market much more with the sims4) and HOPEFULLY they will see reason by then, but I would definitely prefer for them to realize this themselves sooner.
I wonder if that's why Sim Guru Grant left to create another life sim - because he found out The Sims 5 would never happen. Keeping a poor performing game alive for another decade on top of making a single player experience a multi-player one are incredibly poor decisions across the board. Whoever is greenlighting these things is completely out of touch and we are witnessing the crash and burn of the franchise in real time.
@@SyntheticGoth Couldn't agree more. He most likely did not see anything good coming from Rene and did not get leadership to greenlight The Sims 5 either.
I would looooove just an open neighbourhood I hate how my sim can stand right beside a house or their own house and I have to go through a loading screen and "travel" there..
All of the dev previews they've shared don't really make sense for a spinoff game. Why would they be building on a new engine and reanimating everything from scratch if its a spinoff..? I personally think it was a recent decision to reclassify it as a spinoff, and it WAS originally intended as an exploration of the Sims 5.
They're trying to build a new engine becuase LITERALLY EVERYONE bitches about the 4 engine. 3 2 and OG is so old they don't even program in those languages anymore 😂
honesty project renee seems like spores galactic adventures where its a seperate game but basically the same game with extra parts added onto it allowing a different mechanic to function
I hate how they want to turn a notoriously single-player game into multi-player. I don't know any neurospicy introverts that *don't* play this game. EA knows the demographic that they sell all of these packs to. If they make it multi-player, the game is over, and EA isn't even smart enough to know it. If they make me play The Sims with other people, I'm done playing it.
With each DLC they release I question who they’re targeting, I honestly think they resent us and are desperately seeking/inticing “new” players constantly just to drown us out.
@pumpkinpiex I am a 36 year old, cisgender female and neurospicy af. They get me with build mode and family gameplay and I'll be honest- I have all of the the EPs, GPs, and stuff packs. I only buy build mode kits and I only have a couple of them. I know I'm dumb because I keep giving them my money while so much is still so very broken but, it's pretty much the only game I play and I tell myself "at least it's not drugs" more often than I should. I think I fit in their targeted demographic if only because I have the money to get all the stuff. Teenagers and 20 somethings can't/aren't in the position to give them the way, almost $2k for everything? At least not in my country.
@@Dude_its_Lyz yeah, I would say most serious simmers are adults that have grown with the game, that’s the point, they don’t seem to want to cater to our wants and desires, they want to entice a new generation or a whole new demographic.
I remember playing sims 3 and i fully designed every item with patterns and all. Making super original houses. I hope they will add it to the sims 4 too
every decision ea has made about sims in the last 10 years has been made based off of how they can make the most money with the least amount of effort. if project renee sucks ass i sincerely hope nobody buys it. there is serious power in consumers decisions that we forget about.
@@BruvvaJoshOpen worlds, coded properly, don’t cause any issues when played on up to date equipment. When I play Sims 3 on my laptop (circa 2020), it runs beautifully with the graphics maxed. No lag in any world but the Island Paradise one, and even that goes away if I move two families off houseboats, delete their houseboats, and make a front door for this one guy whose house just has an open arch.
I dont either but I think what is the most aggregious is the swatches they did come out with are all the same. Nothing fun. Nothing new. 10 years and that's all they came up with ? Ew.
Yeah I don’t give a crap about the color wheel, that being said the fact we lost features between sims 3 and 4 instead of gaining features says a lot about how Sims 4 is still playing catch up
As someone that's married, that would be weird for me to play a game that involves doing that and yeah, my 9 year old wouldn't be able to play because of that as well. Playing as a single sim all the time seems boring in general...guess I will still be sticking to sims 2 and 3 🙄
I can guarantee you Project Rene will be a meta verse. Just from the sneak peaks, it looks like a world with hubs and you'll be able to join a server ro interact with other players. I can't imagine you'll be able to actually build houses because it will be in a pre-built city setting, and you'll only be able to decorate your own apartment. It's clear they want to dip both feet into the MMO market and they are using The Sims 4 to fund it. So instead of getting investor money to make a sequel which would actually satisfy their dedicated fan base (because screw us I guess), they're convincing investors that Project Rene will be the next best thing to attract a new audience, and they will keep The Sims 4 alive because of how profitable it's been for a decade. Sometimes I wish I was naive enough to not read between the lines. 🤦🏻♀️
I want only the NPCs I choose in my universe. I don't want real people, much less the Randoms NPCs the game forces on me. I want to play god goddammit.
Who the hell actually wants multiplayer in The Sims? What, are you going to renact being kidnappers with your human zoos together?!? 🤯🤯🤯 FFS I wouldn’t really share a good portion of my Sim stories with ANYONE, why would EA think multiplayer would be a good idea with the horror show that is the Sims Player Base???
@ yeah, I remember hearing about that. Just begs the question, this shit didn’t work out before, why the f^ck are they so damned and determined to repeat it again???
The Sims Medieval was one of my favorite spin of games! I’d be open for another one of those!! Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sims 4 turns into a subscription base game…
The wonky table analogy is so real too because they keep adding all the packs (cake) and trying to even out the table legs with sugar packets 😂 (the patches)
All I need is open worlds. In Sims 4, I spend 95% of the game in my Sim's house because going anywhere feels like effort because of loading screens. In Sims 3, I used to camp around when I was playing rags to riches and have them sleep on benches and shower at the gym and it was more fun. NOW I'd rather buy gym equipment for the house then go the gym. Or invite Sims over to mine then meet out at a lot. I play the Sims to get OUT the house when I cba in real life lol. I cannot be in doors, playing a game in doors. It makes me feel even more tragic.
I wont speak for everyone, but I didnt have a hard time moving from Sims 3 to Sims 4 because of my investments in 3. I pre-ordered Sims 4, I would watch all the trailery hype things, and my cousin and I basically did a countdown until we could launch Sims 4. And as soon as we did, we thought our game was BROKEN. The map was grey, the open world didn't exist, there weren't any toddlers, I couldn't build a pool, all the cemeteries had disappeared and ghosts no longer existed, I couldnt figure out how to get to the color wheel to do my shade of brown hair (didnt exist lol)... I went back to Sims 3 for YEARS because I wanted a life simulation game that was COMPLETED. I eventually switched years later to Sims 4. And recently, I switched back. Gave up on 4 entirely. Sims 4 was never intended to be the forever game, so it wasnt built to be. It was built to be an online game, and rushed into being the next solo game in the main series. If they want a forever Sims game... they need to build one. And Renee is not it. I really dont want Sims to die. The vibes and lore are so quirky and nostalgic and weird. It was so unique. But I will move on if there is a better option that comes my way. And I'll stick with Sims 3 if there's not.
I started getting into the sims 4 youtube around when eco lifestyle came out and wasn't able to play it until base game went free and I've held off completely from buying packs because it's been around so long that it would cost too much to get them all and even start to build up from base game and I assumed the sims 5 would be around the corner. It's crazy to me that I've been expecting it for around 5 years and it's just unlikely to be any time soon. I'm personally just going to swap to paralives when it releases since sims 4 base game is so broken and there's no way I could afford nor run the full game or even just the handful of most appealing packs
My tinfoil hat theory is that Project Renee was supposed to be the Sims 5, but it was testing poorly due to some bad gameplay decisions (apartments, multiplayer, etc.) So instead of creating the EA version of the LBY debacle, EA decided to pivot, making Project Renee its own thing and keeping Sims 4 around until they have a game that can justify replacing Sims 4. It explains why some gurus got canned around the time EA started explicitly stating Project Rene isn’t Sims 5.
I wish I could carry a pocket sized Satch in my pocket so he can review all my life decisions in this manner. He’d be like: “I think that’s a terrible decision, yes I do yes I *do* “
i dont understand it from a bussiness perspective, people moved on from 1 to 2, from 2 to 3 and bought all the packs time and time again. Then you get the sims 4 and the game is bad, thats why people havent moved on, if theyre still willing to pay hundreds for upcoming packs they would also move on to the sims 5 and then purchase the packs. Only thing is that it should not be worse than sims 4
It makes perfect sense for a business perspective. Sell nothing for the cost of everything, and put no money into your business so you can line your own pockets. That's business. Releasing a Sims 5 means putting resources into making something that is going to convince people that it's worth buying. It's a risk. Releasing 3 more beds and some mods and charging $50 for it is safer because the people playing the game live in the sunken cost fallacy. It's why Hollywood is latching onto IPs instead of telling new stories: new stories are a risk, while sequels and remakes (even with diminishing returns) are safe and easy to make.
I stop playing sims 4, 2 years ago, since none of the pack ( that cost a kidney for like 12 things that aren’t playable with 1-4 figure that doesn’t work ) properly work… I’m so sad I loved the game but it’s ain’t possible to play a game that can’t be properly run and you risk to loose everything every update … on top of it they made it almost impossible to play the sims 1-2-3 unless you find a cd copie ..
Was was looking at the store yesterday (since stuff is still on sale). Even after buying a handful of expansions and packs, and even with 30-50% off on almost everything, Steam still says I can add everything to my cart for over $1200.
EA just seems so out of touch with the Sims fan base. They are a different breed from most gamers. I'm a Sims 3 player, so I probably can't speak for Sims 4 players, but I get the impression that they would be willing to re-invest in the Sims 5 if it would be a game that WORKED and had many of the features that simmers love from the earlier games but updated to reflect modern times. I really think that's what everyone, including myself, wants.
Yeah, you can’t drive around town but you can iwn cars, you can work on cars, you can get in a car and drive off screen which is more immersive then teleporting into the abyss to go to work/school. Cars actually help closed world games tbh because your sims drove off they didn’t just magically disappear and reappear.
I never understood that argument it's so stupid especially cause the walkable neighbourhoods are a lot bigger in Sims 4 Vs Sims 2 like it's actually annoying when you're in a community lot and it takes forever for your sim to walk into the loading screen
another RUclipsr (forget their name) said the sims 4 is like a boat that keeps getting holes. The team fixes the holes by taping them up but every time they tape a hole a new one appears. Until eventually the whole boat is covered in tape. This is an inherently broken game and I will forever bitch about EA’s horrible decision to stake the entire franchise to it.
Not enough people played Sims City, and it shows. Until the Sims 4, EA had multiple Sims series going on while Sims 2 and Sims 3 were out. It was so weird that they only had the Mobile game and Sims 4 for the last 10 years. Since they first announced Project Rene, it always looked similar to Sims City (which had so many issues). I don't think most Simmers will like Project Rene - especially when the majority of the community assumed it was Sims 5. I think the return of My Sims will be more popular - especially if it is for the Switch. The reason they don't want to make the Sims 5 is because they aren't willing to move on from the current graphics. They aren't willing to improve the game. As someone who works in a tech company, things are often rushed and ill-thought of ON PURPOSE. It only matters how many products they can push out. The only thing that will make EA change if everyone stopped giving them money.
What EA could've done is they could've hired the former team that did Life by You and they could've bought the rights to the unreleased game and they could've added a few unique Sims things and they could've released that as Sims 5. After all, Life by You did have Sims 3 vibes and it did have the former leader of Maxis in charge of the team, it would've made quite a sizable profit in the long run, after all, Paradox wasn't going to release it, EA could've snatched it up.
I doubt Paradox would have sold EA the scrapped project. It belongs to Paradox not the development team. The team didn’t get to take the game/code with them.
It's like EA/Maxis don't remember how badly The Sims Online/EA Land went. I just hope they don't try to force it onto people and let people just continue to play without the online portion. But by then I anticipate being hooked on Paralives and maybe inzoi.
Project Rene was 100% supposed to be The Sims 5, EA realized they wouldn't be able to launch it in a half-decent (much less half-finished) state within the next few years so they decided to double down on their existing game by trying to attach the unrefined remnants of TS5 onto TS4. Gaslighting doesn't change the fact they did something SIMilar to Project Olympus when the SimCity fiasco happened, when they learned people then weren't gonna buy what they were making. And so The Sims 4 happened as a result.
Ok EA, hear me out, if you indeed are lazy and don’t want to give us a new generation for the Sims, bring back The Sims 2. You would make SO MUCH MONEY, trust! Give us a remaster of the game ( or even better, a remake where you also touch up the graphics ) and put out some aditional expansion packs. Look at the moding community for TS2 and what they’ve been doing and wanting and give us an additional 2-4 expansion packs that includes that. The community would go INSANE.
i’ll be honest, i don’t want a colour wheel because yes it’s fun to have options but look at how ugly items were in the sims 3. 90% of that is down to the colour wheel and it making items look flat. i wish we could have something similar to the colour wheel but the actual wheel can stay in the sims 3 imo
Sims 3: Want a grass fridge? Fine! Want a metal sofa? Fine!
Sims 4: You will have these colours and you *will* like them.
And they dont even match a lot of times...
My leading theory is that they do this to keep the gallery pretty. If they gave people complete control it would look like chaos. Like, we used to be able to make some wild inhuman looking sims. Not anymore.
oh god, I'm being held by gunpoint..
Seriously

Exactly, makes no freaking sense! This time we actually WANT to start over, but they threatened yet another decade. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. 😵💫
EA has their own language, so allow me to translate what they said for you :)
"We don't want to use our money to make another game when we can just add infinite shitty packs to get money from a broken game"
Cause sadly people will still buy these packs, especially content creators to test them out for viewers which only gives EA exactly what they want..more money..
It's not like you're forced to start over, you can just not buy the game and still play TS4

It really makes me sad to think how downhill the sims has gone. I also feel bad for other fans of the sims that don’t have the kind of computer that can handle games like paralives. It just is sad knowing that it could have been incredible, but it’s not.
But should't most computers be compatible with Paralives? Inzoi, on the other hand, is a different story...
The game is not good and that's that.
y'all idk which unhealed part of our brains is making us play this game..
Just use your brain and don‘t … play it? Pretty easy.
It's abusive relationship but we're getting inzoi and paralives
Personally I like making characters and playing as them which I why I play a lot of customisable rpgs, however there aren't a lot of life simulation games like the sims out there. If the sims had any sort of competition this franchise would have been dead a long time ago
i love to retraumatize myself with the fact how empty the game was at release.
The Sims 4 is OVER
Many people on the Sims project left, so what you have now is a cash cow being milked to death.
Play Inzoi then, I don't like realism and prefer the cartoony aspect.
@@BruvvaJosh I said realistic not about the graphics, but sims 4 is toooooo cartoon sometimes I can't take it serious,..
It's a real shame that a follow-up game hasn't been developed in 10 years.
EA and Maxis should be really ashamed of themselves.
they should be but they dont give a fuck
Agreed, I just don't know how they have sat there doing nothing for so long when other competitors are popping up in the market? I feel so upset as I love the sims but EA are slowly killing the game through their laziness. I will be looking to play para lives and inzoi and that's after being a player of the sims since sims 1 but the bugs and glitches are making gameplay enjoyment really challenging!
There is no Maxis any longer, not the way it was in the days of Sims 1 to Sims 3. They're fully part of EA, have been stripped down to the bones, and can't really work for themselves any longer. Maxis is in-name-only now, not a studio any longer.
maxis doesn't exist anymore 😭
I wish they would just remake/remaster/refresh the sims 3. That game was so great in so many ways. If they made the graphics and everything look better, make CAS as interactive as the sims 4, and make build buy as easy as the sims 4, maybe even sprinkle in some things from the sims 2 I honestly think it would be the best selling sims game of all time
Same but the thing is I don’t even think the new management understand the coding and structuring of previous sims game. A lot of the older developers, coders and programmers left after the great business shift from MAXIS to EA.
All I want is Sims 3 game with Sims 4 graphics.
Yes!!
With the Sims 2 animation
YES
Same! I like the aesthetics of sims 4 and the building tools and such, but I want the actual immersive game play of the sims 3.
cc makes my sims 3 more beautiful than the sins 4 base game ever could
Accidentally got here early.

Exactly! They tried to make the new Dragon Age game a live service multiplayer at first. It's wild. Single player audiences want to play single player games. Not sure how many failures they need to see before that sinks in, but you'd hope they'd learn from Skull & Bones, Suicide Squad, Anthem, etc.

"Common sense" is a misnomer. It's not common at all.
This. Just this.
But if pets and seasons are included in the base game, they can't charge you $100 to buy them again.
@@ScooterinAB yeah, it must be difficult when your as creatively bankrupt as EA to come up with new things to sell to their players.
Sims 3 would have been the better Engine to have made it as a 25 years + game, all they had to fix was the memory hog loop. Sims 4 base Engine is a terrible base. It wasn't made for what they turned it into, which is why it started off so poorly.
they’ve only done this cuz they’re making so much BANK from the dlc in ts4 🤨
my sims still choose to walk across entire 50x40 lots to take a dirty food/plates to the bathroom trash bin despite there being a perfectly good dumpster not even 4 steps away from where they were so like... they can add whatever they want onto it, but the game is still so abysmal and the sims coding is still genuinely helplessly stupid. until they tell me they overhauled the ai/sims behavior entirely, i'll never be able to play more than a few hours of sims a month before pulling my hair out and leaving to play another game lol.
I had to give up on sims autonomy for Sims 4 - just turn it off and accept that I have to micromanage everything now. 😢. Still doesn’t stop the townies from acting like idiots though.
I relate
Why are their trash bins in your bathroom?
Also, do you actually hang out in builders houses?? What do you do besides eatch TV?
No mater how many frosting layers you add, if the cake under that frosting is mouldy, it'll still be a mouldy cake in there.
EA need to rewrite the source code of The Sims4 from the ground up.
Doors and windows desperately need a dual colour swatches system : One set for the inside and one for the outside. Each independent from the other. Beds, chairs and couches also need a dual swatches system : Structure and cushion/mattress.
Yes the windows and doors drive me nuts
It’s kinda of sad.. bc with the sims 2 and sims 3 I used to play all the time for hours and never got bored.. but with the sims 4 I get bored.. and it’s such a money grabber.. I hate it. Like what happened? Why is sims 2 and sims 3 way better than the sims 4?
Yes, 2005 was a peak 19th century year honestly
lol I got married on July 2, 2005 AT AGE 27. It was simpler times back then in the 19th century BAHAHAHA
I don't understand how people are still buying anything from EA
I love how there is this topic of “starting over” with pack in a new sims game when they could literally just add all the previous pack features into the base version of a new sims game. Crazy to me how The Sims have warped peoples mind into thinking they absolutely have to pay for every single feature.
It's EA well definitely have to start over. And that's how they lose loyalty.
@@limegreendaggy6506 all facts. Need to start doing built in seasons, pets, and careers bc why wouldn’t a life sim have these very realistic aspects of life in the base game 🙄
A modernised Sims 3 without the bugs would be perfect!
Yeah can we get a remaster hahaha
Instead of adding all those swatches, they could've just as easily added a color wheel, and I think there's actually a mod that adds one, so it actually is doable.
They have a color wheel and brushes in cats and dogs to paint the pets in cas. Why can't they just put it on everything??
Ts4 has been dead for a while. Tbh I haven't played in nearly two years I just keep watching your content because you're hilarious dude
I'd be happy if Maxis took Sims 1 or 2 and gave it Sims 4 graphics and build mode. That's all they really need to do for a hit main game 😭
I've been showing my kids sims 1 & 2 to my teen kids to compare to sims 4. Even they're shocked at the quality drop.
When my baby is old enough I really want to show sims 1 and 2 as part of my childhood lol, back when sims wasn’t just a money maker

Maybe it's just me settling, but I don't even care about an open world. I'd just like to see more than 8 lots per world. I'd like to have neighbours.
Sims 4: Special Edition
@@ScooterinAB They can put more details too like in sims 2 because feels it has no soul
Watch in 5 years someone from EA will say that they meant 15 more years instead of 15 total.
I would looooove just an open neighbourhood I hate how my sim can stand right beside a house or their own house and I have to go through a loading screen and "travel" there..
Big same
All of the dev previews they've shared don't really make sense for a spinoff game.
Literally same
With each DLC they release I question who they’re targeting, I honestly think they resent us and are desperately seeking/inticing “new” players constantly just to drown us out.
19th century? Satch😭☠️
I remember playing sims 3 and i fully designed every item with patterns and all. Making super original houses.
I hope they will add it to the sims 4 too
“We don’t want people to loose progress.” Is corpo speak for “we don’t want to spend money on a sequel when we can just keep making more expansions.”
They couldnt even be bothered to celebrate Sims 4s birthday on the day, so idk why they bother to work on it for many more years xd
Ohhh we are in a really unhealthy relationship where we don't even celebrate the anniversary....😢
every decision ea has made about sims in the last 10 years has been made based off of how they can make the most money with the least amount of effort. if project renee sucks ass i sincerely hope nobody buys it. there is serious power in consumers decisions that we forget about.
We want OPEN WORLDS and COLOUR WHEELS, literally what the older game had and did right.
I prefer sims 2 over 3, open worlds cause so many issues.
Sounds like they’re just making it up as they go along
Tbh I don't mind not having a color wheel, but I get why people want it.
I dont either but I think what is the most aggregious is the swatches they did come out with are all the same. Nothing fun. Nothing new. 10 years and that's all they came up with ? Ew.
Yeah I don’t give a crap about the color wheel, that being said the fact we lost features between sims 3 and 4 instead of gaining features says a lot about how Sims 4 is still playing catch up
Will you Flirt and woohoo with actual strangers in a multi player version of sims? That in itself sounds horrendous. This is a very bad idea.
... someone's new to . . . Humans.
@@Loralanthalas I think they might need stronger AGE restrictions , don't you?
As someone that's married, that would be weird for me to play a game that involves doing that and yeah, my 9 year old wouldn't be able to play because of that as well. Playing as a single sim all the time seems boring in general...guess I will still be sticking to sims 2 and 3 🙄
The 19th century was from 1800 until 1899
bahahahah The 19th century began on 1 January 1801 (represented by the Roman numerals MDCCCI), and ended on 31 December 1900 LMAO.
FFS I wouldn’t really share a good portion of my Sim stories with ANYONE, why would EA think multiplayer would be a good idea with the horror show that is the Sims Player Base???
Sims Online had virtual crimes. As well as brothels and a mafia.
@ yeah, I remember hearing about that. Just begs the question, this shit didn’t work out before, why the f^ck are they so damned and determined to repeat it again???
@ Insanity.
I’m putting all my eggs in the inzoi basket
The Sims Medieval was one of my favorite spin of games! I’d be open for another one of those!!
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sims 4 turns into a subscription base game…
The wonky table analogy is so real too because they keep adding all the packs (cake) and trying to even out the table legs with sugar packets 😂 (the patches)
Get Will Wright back on the job. He’ll fix it
imagine sims 3 had 10 years of support and built on new game engines. That would be the perfect sims game
I'm literally just reverting back to the sims 3
All I need is open worlds. In Sims 4, I spend 95% of the game in my Sim's house because going anywhere feels like effort because of loading screens.
In Sims 3, I used to camp around when I was playing rags to riches and have them sleep on benches and shower at the gym and it was more fun.
NOW I'd rather buy gym equipment for the house then go the gym. Or invite Sims over to mine then meet out at a lot.
I play the Sims to get OUT the house when I cba in real life lol. I cannot be in doors, playing a game in doors. It makes me feel even more tragic.
19th century is 1800's satch! :')
Most people that play Sims don't own PCs that can run inZOI.
I'm personally just going to swap to paralives when it releases since sims 4 base game is so broken and there's no way I could afford nor run the full game or even just the handful of most appealing packs
satch... we're in the 21st century...
There is a nice guide on steam how you can Play the sims 3 really really good and i love it but where you get i there is something called steam rip 🤐
I really think that's what everyone, including myself, wants.
i wish they’d rework the sims 3 and add onto THAT not the sims 4 smh
"You can't do cars without open world!" *Sims 2 and even Sims 1 as passenger.
The Sims 4 anniversary passed so unnoticed that it makes me uneasy.
It will most probably be the late late twice removed cousin of Sims Urbz
They could, buit they won't, because that requires EA to a) spend money, and b) care enough about their products and not just their profits.
PS TS2 had the ability to choose the blanket and the bedframe separately...how sad is that
It's like EA/Maxis don't remember how badly The Sims Online/EA Land went. I just hope they don't try to force it onto people and let people just continue to play without the online portion. But by then I anticipate being hooked on Paralives and maybe inzoi.
I doubt anyone involved is still there, and the people at the top don't play games so they wouldn't even know what that was.
EA straight up pushing the Sims IP into the proverbial pool and removing the ladder with this one. 🤦
Spot on another good analogy is how it’s no
Different to dovetail games and trains sim world
EA will finally have their Project Olympus instead of just a borked Sims4 game.
EA wins again.
19th century lol 😂 during the Wild West saw a few sims releases. Billy the kid a avid sims player lol
i’ll be honest, i don’t want a colour wheel because yes it’s fun to have options but look at how ugly items were in the sims 3. 90% of that is down to the colour wheel and it making items look flat. i wish we could have something similar to the colour wheel but the actual wheel can stay in the sims 3 imo
My theory for project renee is that it will kinda of be a remastered sims 4 with the new features and the sims 4 assets will be backwards compatible.
