    I miss the old Batman. The human one. The compassionate one. Not the PERFECT HUMAN COMPUTER. The one from the Animated series from the 90s. The one where he comforts people. The one where he buys Harley Quinn a dress after a misunderstanding with her. The one where he comforts a woman who is cursed with a condition that makes he look like a child forever.
    As a teenager a loved Batman because he was cool, edy, dark, but now i wish he was less of a plot armour character who forces his ideals down your throat of the "no kill" rule.
    He should be more of a "hero who is the light in the dark".

    Bruce finally gets to feel what superman feels and have some fun at his old age. Retiring must've given him plenty of recovery and reflection and it's good seeing him smiling and go back out there doing what he's passionate about even when he's in absolute agony. He doesn't need to be pouty or a perfect like most modern depictions of him. He just needs to be himself

    His retirement allow him to put his hand off the vengeance for a long while allowing him to fully embrace his Bruce Wayne side, the side that's allow him to have family and friends.
    However, He's still yearning for old time of doing a job to drive the vengeance into criminal body and soul so he went out and unleash his desire.

    My main gripe is when people try to explain the motivations of Batman and make it sound like he's a revenge obsessed psycho. Batman's main motivation is to ensure what happened to him as a child never happens to another child again. It's the reason why he takes in Dick Grayson and other children who have been scarred by similar tragedy. He doesn't dream about kicking criminal's teeth in. If anything, he probably dreams about a day where Batman is no longer needed.

    • @johnmoreno6903
      @johnmoreno6903 Год назад +19

      True that, even moreso, evil batmen are created mostly because Batman was needed even more, either by the criminals doubling in size, his age catching on as he’s forced to give up the work to others who don’t get the job done right, or a combination of the two. Which then drives him to seek greater power that then corrupts him, the most notable one I can name being Castle-Bat, who’s Gotham was plagued with worsening crime, his age forced him to the sidelines as he passed the mask down to Damian, but Damian sucked at being Batman, so he was desperate to save Gotham from the crime before it tore the city apart. In his desperation, he made a sacrifice of Damian to a Native American god so that his soul would be bound to Gotham itself, he literately fused with the city, becoming one with its every brick and shadow, in mere hours, he crushed all criminals, Gotham was saved for good as he took a well deserved rest, it was only when The Bat Who Laughs came to him that he came out of his newfound retirement, turning the city into his newfound body as he became a headquarters for The Bat Who Laughs’ crew, hence his newfound name, Castle-Bat
      And there are many more examples of this, there’s a Batman who harnessed flash’s speed, I believe harming him in the process, to then wipe out crime, another who harnessed some other other-worldly power and became a tyrant, and on a lighter note, there was a still-good Batman who in his old aged, partnered with Ra’s Al Ghul to go the Lazarus pits, there they did…something, and became one, Ghul giving up his very existence to keep Batman young and in his prime. The common denominator between all three, crime was skyrocketing and everyone other than Batman was impotent in stopping the plague of crime

      To quote one of the most well-respected authors of Batman to ever live, “Batman’s goal isn’t simple vengeance. It’s much larger than that; much more *noble* than that. Batman is seeking to create a world where a young Bruce Wayne would never have to live through what he did. Batman seeks to create a world where he doesn’t need to exist.”

    There's one panel in a comic I read a while ago that explains this one perfectly: Wonder Woman puts The Lasso of Truth around all the male heroes (Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Flash). They each reveal their actual names as the lasso is placed upon them. "Clark Kent", "Hal Jordan", "Barry Allen". Then when it gets to Batman, he says "Batman". Everyone jokes about how the lasso is broken accept Wonder Woman who is confused as to why Batman doesn't say his actual name. Then it is revealed later that Bruce Wayne in his mind, the real true person is "Batman", and that "Bruce Wayne" is the alter ego.
    So in his mind, he'll never stop being Batman no matter how old he gets, because Bruce Wayne "died" the moment his parents did.

    • @FreePlayMode
      @FreePlayMode Год назад +33

      @@Ducky195 The reason why Superman doesn't say "Kal-El" is that in his heart and mind, he believes himself to be Clark Kent. He was raised since an infant as "Clark Kent". He only learned of his Kryptonian heritage and culture later on in his life after he became a super hero.
      So while Kal-El is his true Kryptonian name, he sees himself as being from Earth, and thus his name in his heart and mind is "Clark Kent".

    This actually made me shed a tear. Throughout my childhood I’ve always like 3 things, Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man, and the highlight. Batman. Throughout the times I’ve watched this guy in a costume just be hero, it never really seemed like he enjoyed it, then you had the times where he smiled cause of his family and friends, more importantly his crime fights. That is the way I changed my whole mindset on Batman, because in reality, he loves to be Batman. He really did enjoy it. I am so happy for Batman fr. He really is the definition of Gotham’s Symbol of Hope, but darkness too. Even if he is a demon who lurks in the shadows, I now know that he just loves being a hero. A big example of Batman simply just being a caring hero is Batman The Animated Series, Batman Brave and the Bold, and a couple 100-200 comic issues.

    I would have to disagree about your points regarding how Batman wants to make criminals suffer.
    He’s not someone like the punisher who enjoys torturing people. He’s not putting on that mask every night purely for his own personal desires.
    If Batman just wanted to make criminals suffer, like he did, he wouldn’t hold back from killing them.
    Batman stands for something greater. He isn’t a figure of revenge coming to slaughter the guilty. Batman is a Vengeance for all those who have suffered at the hands of crime. He will bring the criminals to justice to avenge their victims, but nothing more. He is vengeance, not revenge.

      You kinda misunderstand both Frank Castle and Bruce Wayne. Frank has admitted he isn't punishing the criminals, he's punishing *himself* for failing to protect his family. He fully intends to suffer and eventually, inevitably die on his mission, and he's just taking as many criminals as he can with him.
      Bruce, meanwhile, knows very well that it isn't the dead who suffer, it's the survivors. His parents, he believes (and has had confirmed in some comics) are waiting for him in Heaven or some kind of afterlife. They aren't suffering. He is, here on Earth. So he won't kill, not out of mercy, but because only those who are still alive and conscious can feel pain. As long as they're on Earth, they're his to torture.

    This is a neat twist. Bruce isn't a curmudgeon for once. It was very sad, the part of him being in agony while swinging around.
    This might be lengthy, just a warning, so run now while you can. I thought the same thing recently while playing Spider-Man 2. The writers made it a point to put across how long the original Spider-Man had been doing it by sneaking in little things- such as showing teen Parker punching a whole in a wall In anger the first time he heard a J Jonah Jamison show criticize Spiderman. They also show how he'd get used to making web fluid as a teen.
    It made me think that if being able to do things like that in real life, the sheer amount of knowledge a person would amass doing it. Granted they dont get themselves offed, that would be a super dangerous person, knowing that they got away with their lives that many times, and the realization that it's because they got better at their tactics. This bat guy, he can sneak up on people like a ninja, you'll Never hear it coming, and nothing mystical happens- he just beats you within in inch of your life. I mean think about that, as the video says, that's how a criminal would view such a person. But to the people who understand that batman goes after criminals, there's no fear involved. Interesting dynamic. I never considered that.

    Tom King 100% wrong about happiness ruining batman. If anything it gives both the character and readers more feel good moments that well deserved for one of the hardest working heroes of DC.

    I avoided watching this video whenever it was recommended to me because I was worried it would be about a sad and somewhat pathetic old man getting himself killed trying relive his glory days, and BOY was I happy to be wrong. This is just a story about a retired Bruce living his best life and going on one last joy-ride to celebrate his 75th birthday, and I am down for that. I especially love the smile he wore on his face for most of the comic, as well as all the nods and references to other comics featuring an older Batman. This was a great send-off for the character, and I'm glad I got to see it.

    Depends on what version of Batman you are talking about.
    When I think of Batman I think of the one in Batman, the Animated Series.
    And I am sure a lot of people do the same and hear the same actor's voice.
    That one feels no pleasure in beating the crap out of criminals. He does what he needs to do. His enemy being crime itself and not the criminal.
    But If you go to more sadist versions (like the live actions movies), yeah those are just the Punisher in a funny costume.

    And look at how tore up his body even is. He's more scars than flesh. More shattered bones than solid. And you can bet those all happened in the last few years before his retirement, when he "slowed down too much" for his own liking. And, knowing Batman, it's only been about ten years or even less since he was officially Batman. Considering he started in his late 20's or so, depending on the timeline you're looking at, he probably DID do 40+ years under that cape-and-cowl.

    Would be awesome to have a short film based on this comic. Trying to make an entire movie or show out of it would be too much. But a 40 minute film would be perfect. And dont make it "Logan" esque, just make it exactly this. We don't need to see old Bats lose, just struggle with a smile. I'd love that & I think it'd be a hit if done right. Preferably a Batman we haven't seen yet, too.

    This story line ran in Batman Comics way back in 1957. Nothing new here except like in the Zorro novels, he trains a successor because he knew he was too old. In the Antonio Banderous Zorro movie ,the original Zorro trains his own successor.
