He got turned into a spider monster, got infected with ultron nanites i think?
Honestly I think they made him the most tragic to motivate people to still be friendly and neighborly just like our favorite web slinger no matter what we going through behind our mask and closed doors.🤷🏽♂️
Actually, Stan Lee created Spider-Man's tragic life to make his comic more realistic than the more idealistic Silver Age DC comics. He invented the "capepunk" subgenre.
Writers keep forgetting that what makes Spiderman so determined is that despite all the hardships he have Aunt May and his (limited) friends to help him, heck even J. Jonah Jameson does care for Peter, nowadays its just dropping the biggest dump they can on Spiderman and the Web Head will take it and move on.
The problem is the fact that Spidey is popular so just like any popular hero, the studio forces the writers to come with a new story every month or so, forcibly. Writer comes in and out, and the working rule is; Put Spidey into suffering and drama. Make it as eye-catching as possible for better or for worse. Then from time to time they do some "self-aware" moment like this to lightly gaslight the audiance into, again, slowing down with the critizing on the conics. But Idk why marvel comic fans complain all the time but keep buying. Like you *showing your support,* basically telling the industry that the formula is working and you wanna see more.
This happens in every piece of media and I hope it gets called out more. Lampshading is such a lazy and stupid tactic that tries to shield criticism by pointing out the ridiculousness of the premise. It doesn't do anything else to enhance the work, but people keep buying into it, that writers keep using it ad nauseam. Same thing with MCU.

And then Norman erased his dad from existence because he couldn't properly handle him saying "I love you son." after a lifetime of abuse from him. But then that erased himself as well.
Am I the only one who thinks it would've been absolutely hilarious if there actually WERE trillions of Spider-Men out there who were genuinely living their best lives, and mainline Peter just happened to be one of the ones who got dealt a shitty hand?
Imagine your multiple different versions of yourself bully you and laugh at you, and you just take it. Because you're the worst version of yourself of all of them.
One of Stan Lee's greatest creations being sent over to DC would cause unknown amounts of backlashes that the fandom and company might never heal from.
Spiderman 616: Why does my life suck? Spiderman from other universes: Well it's not your fault but it is your fault for getting involved. Collectively the world is more happier than your sadness when bad things happen to you so, whatever. At least you don't have cancer... Spiderman 616: *Backs away slowly
You forgot that Carlie Cooper broke up with him and then became a human spider-person never to be seen again, Black Cat JUST broke up with him in the comics because they weren't the best version of themselves while dating. In the most recent Spider-Man comic, he becomes a goblin, he was cloned by Miles Warren, the Jackal and didn't even think he was Peter Parker for a while, Kamala Khan died in his arms.
@@dylansharp8471 Just recently, a Kraven clone stabbed him with a spear containing Norman Osborn's sins that had been taken in by Dr. Kafka, the Queen Goblin. That story is still playing out. And I meant the Clone Saga from he 90's.
After Peter accepted this, it was easier for him to become part of some Spider-Society thing that his time-displaced friend Miguel kept trying to get him to join.
Well, in in the 90s Spider-Man the animated series, they showed a Spider-Man who has the perfect life, heck in that world even uncle Ben is still alive and he still becomes Spider-Man and is a billionaire with his own company and is engaged to be married, and I think even his parents are still alive too, also in the ultimate Spider-Man animated series Peter has a better life compared to all the other dimensions.
And then they'll put the whole grinder in a bigger grinder and the whole thing in another even bigger grinder, which will eventually be thrown off the Brooklyn bridge.
These writers always try so hard to be dark and griddy for no reason at all like bruh just give Peter a happy life, most people would want to see that anyway
You missed a few: He constantly has to test his own DNA and brew anti-serums every few years to make sure he doesn't mutate into a massive spider-monster. His college degrees were stripped from him and he's considered an academic pariah. He can never be sure he's the real him because he's got dozens of clones most of which have all his memories.
There's other heroes in New York; let them take care of it while Peter can go live a happy life. Then again, Peter could maybe have a fetish for self-pain so...
Which is some bull when you consider that even the Incredible Hulk gets some good things to come back around here and there. Almost every Marvel superhero gets some good to come back around. Spidey doesn't because the editors think his pain and suffering is what makes us like him, not all the other things that made his character great.
I can see the conversation now. Spider-man - Why does my life suck? others - Because the people in charge of the Marvel want you to suffer. They either get writers who hate you to write you or when they get a writer to give you what everyone else wants they cancel the series and then laugh at anyone who thinks Peter Parker is allowed to be happy!
I feel like literally everything in his life from the uncle ben moment could be construed as something bad, maybe not all of them rationally, but all of the things.
The worst thing to happen to spider man? He beat a whole ass kryptonian. He beat Super Boy in the M vs DC cross over comics and no one ever brings it up.
It was never so blatant and depressing. At least not all the time. Spidey had real human problems and that made him so relatable and still he fought for good. Some MFs trying to do some social engineering, Take all the symbols that give you hope and degrade them. Spidey is the G.O.A.T. they'll NEVER do it. He'll get back up.
I feel like mainline 616 spiderman already knew that and didn't need to get reminded. If that was like a newer spiderman like just recently got his powers that'd make more sense
If we were to list all the terrible things that you might have missed, which was amazingly comprehensive and thorough btw, it wouldn't be a speedrun. It'd be a months long Skyrim playthrough. Great video, too. That's what some writers/people don't get. It's not the tragedies exactly, it's that he keeps getting back up to be the best of us after each one.
He's life is bad because instead of solving his problems, he helps other people, even when he could let cops do their work. He puts the mask to run from the bad memories. But the more you run the worse it gets. People you love die, but life keeps going for everyone. Spider is not worse than your everyday guy, he's just worse than other heroes.
Remember when Peter was a High School teacher that was happily married, was best friends with most of the heroes in the Marvel Universe and didn't need to ask Satan to fix his dying aunt that specifically told him she was ready to go and be with his uncle again? Yeah, me neither.
This story by Hickman and Chachetto was so great it makes me want a Spider-Man run by Hickman and I’m sick and tired of editorial fucking over Spider-Man thinking his life is nothing but misery sure in the past bad things would happen but there was a point to look forward to something that’s uplifting on how to make life better but nowadays it’s life suck’s nothing you can do I swear they need to change the people in the Spidey office immediately
Because his live is basically is? Like in this same story almost every fucking version of him gets shitted upon time and time again and their "hey, don't hang your nose!" seems like trying to cope with all this shit. Until new writers make his life not suck for, i dunno, about an year - then you can try and talk about being positive.
I feel like if they released a one shot comic of Peter just having *one good day* the fandom would be ballistic over it. Like, he doesnt even need to do hero work in it, it could just be him and MJ chilling on a date, and the worst thing that happens is that he spills coffee on himself. Imagine how fun explaining that to non-spiderman fans would be. Non-fan: But… all he does is go on a date, what’s the point? There’s no conflict. Spiderman fans: *he deserves a break, shhhhhhhhh*
We the reader are like those kids screaming at the bully to stop (the bully are the writers), while the bully keeps pummeling our best friend (spidey)he keeps standing up and I keep crying.
The only peter parker that legit was happy was the one in the Marvel spider man run I think. He is a teen and has a mutant girlfriend name chat. By far the best relationship peter had.
Funny that he usually only has a good life when he stops acting like what people define as a hero. So I guess the moral of being SpiderMan is that you have to abandon your ethics to be happy. …Wait what?
this gives off the funny idea that if any spiderman who actually had a good life got asked about there life and told the truth the other spidermen would laugh and say"ya nice joke"
Because he's so focused on his Spider-Man life that his own resposiblity for be a normal person. There were many times where he could be happy like marrying, Mary Jane only for him missed the wedding just because he was doing Spider-Man stuff. He could have a decent life with jobs and a home only for him to lost them due to his life as Spider-Man. It is evident that he lives under his uncle's shadow, rather than being his own independent person. This is why Superior Spider-Man was a better hero.
I agree, not being hard or anything but its actually annoying to see him have bad things happen to him based on his own decisions to be Spider-man I dont know about anyone else but I wouldn't change my life to be done shitty hero that doesnt even get paid, I cant understand how a somehow smart ass dude got superpowers and instead of his life getting better it got worst😂😂

spiderman has probably been through tough shid in every universe, just because the writers hate him, they just deluding him fr
Lots of the writers need to get back to the roots of Spiderman to remember what made him special.
@@Underworlddream
The problem is that Stan Lee is dead 💀.
The writers have no idea how to use people to make the public feel better.
So you’d rather they not be self-aware at all. Got it.

I have always said Goblin is the most vile and scummiest of all of Peter's villains, this here just further solidifies that notion.
The truth is the writers/editors don't know how to handle a "happy Spiderman". They need to give him to DC so they can show them how it's done.
Anything but that
One of Stan Lee's greatest creations being sent over to DC would cause unknown amounts of backlashes that the fandom and company might never heal from.

"Did I miss anything?"
Me: Yes! You missed Paul!
The one time MJ came back as a clone, got disintegrated in front of Peter, scarring him even further.
When the writers hate you so much that even seeking counsel from yourself is a stressful experience.
At this point the writers get off to putting Spiderman through the meat grinder multiple times, with a bigger grinder each time.
The writers never gave Spidey a break
had me crying ngl. going into the eye of the storm knowing what could happen and still having the feeling that u can’t stay down😢
You missed a few:
He constantly has to test his own DNA and brew anti-serums every few years to make sure he doesn't mutate into a massive spider-monster.
His college degrees were stripped from him and he's considered an academic pariah.
He can never be sure he's the real him because he's got dozens of clones most of which have all his memories.
There's other heroes in New York; let them take care of it while Peter can go live a happy life.
Then again, Peter could maybe have a fetish for self-pain so...
agree
The whole point of Spider-Man is that he’s always going through shit but he manages to get up on top and be happy and save people
For Spider-Man that come to show even when you do good things they don’t come back around, it gets worse

The only peter parker that legit was happy was the one in the Marvel spider man run I think. He is a teen and has a mutant girlfriend name chat. By far the best relationship peter had.
No there also was the one where he had both grandparents, but was killing other spidermen
I hate the modern trend of making superheroes self aware.
So basically, the only way for Peter Parker to stop suffering would be to stop being Spider-man,
The Norman/Gwen affair was retconned.
Funny that he usually only has a good life when he stops acting like what people define as a hero.
So I guess the moral of being SpiderMan is that you have to abandon your ethics to be happy.
