    Always loved how Dime would often not overdub a rhythm guitar under his solos, Rex is so good at filling out that whole space

      Yep! I noticed the same in Domination and Floods. He just goes off to do his own thing which is great

    Such a good song to play on a gig.

      He keeps that bridge riff rolling and that actually powers the solo through from start to end.

    Such a simple bassline conceptually, but adds so much heaviness to the song, it's really fun to play too! Great work as always!

    My mom loves Pantera and this is one of her favorite songs, and since I'm learning bass I figured it would be cool if I played this for her, so the second that I'm decent enough to play this I'll try. I was looking for a video of this for awhile but all the ones I found weren't that good.

    Rex is in my top 5 bassists of all time. I know he's not "the best", but his flavour is pertinent to panteras sound. I love how he freestyles whenever Dime solos. Great cover

    That was greattt man how did you get those chords to sound so huge?. I can never get them to sound as punchy as that

    • @FunkInTheTrunk
      @FunkInTheTrunk 3 года назад +2

      Well I could imagine the lower tuning of his bass would help get that super chunk sound on chords, but it would certainly have to do with any distortion he’s using as well

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  3 года назад +4

      And here I was, thinking that the chords didn't sound heavy enough haha! I guess it's just a combination of distortion and natural sound like Jacobi mentioned.

  • @AaronScutt
    @AaronScutt 3 года назад +2

    Pantera's tuning is hard to nail, good job man! They aren't in A440 pitch...so half step down will get you in the park...but if you can change your tuner to 425-437HZ you will be closer. Easier to tune that way too because after you change the pitch setting you can just tune spot on. I really think they just tuned to whatever felt right when they were recording...or whatever the engineer asked for lol.

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  3 года назад +1

      Basically yep. I just tuned 1/4 down and I felt like I got quite close to the original pitch.

    also how do i tune this, is it 40hz?

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  3 года назад +3

      Not sure what hz it is. It's easier to just tune down your instrument 1/4th instead of dropping half a step.

    • @craigharris7808
      @craigharris7808 3 года назад

      I'm not sure if you've fouund out how to do this yet but if you have a chromatic tuner, the E string is right in between E and D#

    How do you do a quarter step down?

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  3 месяца назад

      it's an odd tuning but when they would tune, they would aim for a pitch inbetween D# and E on the physical tuner

    • @LeoBassCovers2

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  3 года назад +1

      Watch live videos of Rex playing it live. It's just a 0-1-0. The guitar also doesn't play 0-2-1-0 but Dimebag just plays 0-1-0 with a bend on the 1st fret. So I'm sure.

    • @6md
