You can not descend on the "top" half of the holding circle, sou you need to maintain level turn at Angels 2 until the 9 o'clock position in the holding (or Point 3 in your image earlier on), then start desencing to 800 feet and turn back to arrive straight and level to the initial on BRC heading, at 3 NM back, not 2 NM, as at 10:44. Speed between 350 and 400 kts until the break.
In the break, pull roughly 1% of speed for G, 3.5 G for 350 kts and so on, easing up pull gradually, as the speed is going down. Left DDI is usually set to HUD repeater, and if you put up HSI in the RIGHT DDI (to get rid of the "Advisory line" on the left DDI always blanked and masking), you can check visually when to level on reciprocal BRC, and throughout the break turn, you can already adjust your downwind distance based on lateral distance from CRS in NM, shown above the CRS degree in the right bottom corner, to arrive to the Abeam at proper distance, and trimmed to on speed AoA (middle of the E bracket leveling the Velocity Vector). This was on rather the top edge of the E bracket. After that, no trimm and no stick movement for altitude change EVER. Strictly ONLY throttle for climb or descent, and stick movement only sideways, for bank. Bank should be rather 30° than 15°, the shallow / slow turn is why you ended up way more back than necessary. No nitpicking meant, just for those who wanna learn it from this video.

Wasn't sure if I was going to pick up any modules during the sale and try to get into DCS again, but all of the Supercarrier preview footage sold me on some new planes and scenery. Solid tutorial, makes sense...now I just need to go watch the other tutorials for a plane I can land on the deck without cheesing it.

Note the SPEEDS and Distance abeam the carrier for the downwind and the groove are aircraft type dependent, these are for an FA18C. A Superhornet, or a Tomcat or any other plane type would be different. The Diameter of the holding stack is common for all aircraft types. Also you cannot extend the downwind to have a longer 'groove' since that would spoil the timing for other planes in the pattern. You'd be waved off with a LONG IN GROOVE reason. Its all about the TIMING to ensure efficient and safe recovery of many aircraft in the shortest possible time .

@@fdsfsfeezraerttymichaelaie205 IRL the aircraft is shacked around a lot in such weather like on your video, requiring non stop little stick correction to restabilize the birdy, this is why. You can clearly see that AOA still is set by trim at 2:00 and reajusted at 2:10. TeesHQ is right, this tutorial is the perfect exemple of WHAT NOT TO DO. Shouldn't be a tutorial at all, but not surprised, again a classic from Reapers ...
This makes landing look even more intimidating.

Ooh crumbs, I'm not sure that I have the patient's to run through a real and complex landing procedure, like this. ..However, I do go around the carrier the same number of times, before successfully landing...but mines usually due to a number of bolters!!! :p
As usual, amateurs practice until they get it right.
Professionals practice until they can't get it wrong.
Sorry for dumb question but looking to set TACAN in the CASE 1 mission, TCN is listed as 71x but I dont see what the x stands for ? I thought you entered TCN on the keypad which is numeric so I do not see an x ?
Radar Altitude is unreliable over the water. It's why you ended up in the groove at over "400 feet" but were Low on the glideslope. The Radar altimeter is "seeing" the "sea floor" which in DCS is what 2-300 feet under the surface?
He actually got low on the glideslope at 400 feet because he started the approach turn to the groove at least 10 seconds after he was supposed to do, and therefore was wayyy behind the carrier to get a good glideslope for his height...

Hmmm, do you use trim at all? Looks like you were never on speed (correct AOA). Also seeing one of your upper MFDs to HSI gives you better situational awareness.
And it is useful to talk about angle of bank in the pattern. I always get way behind them carrier, like you did although I have seen people going in to the grocery as they roll out.
Oh, and you didn't stop the plane for carrier landing, such as dispensers to safe, antiskid, etc

I have no idea which aircraft should I buy. I like BVR fight and SEAD missions. but you know we have not discount for F-14 and Jester

But if you don't care about the carrier ..F-16 all the way.
predattak nah don’t get the 16, almost all other planes are a better choice. F-14 and jf-17 are better choices. Or just get the viggen, you could never go wrong with her :)
F-16 might be a good choice one day. I love flying it but it's so unfinished and has many bugs. F/A 18 better at the moment. Way more capability
Cap could you test how successfully you can land on a carrier with using trim and throttle controls only on final (no stick input) when turbulence is 39 or above at 0.1 feet. I sure can not.

Why does no one ever explain what controls do what in these videos. This is more like a look what i can do video rather than a tutorial video. Like how do u get to a speed of 135 with out dropping out of the sky? And what is that box on the lower left and how do you bring that up? What does it do? we cant see what buttons ur pressing and when.

How come you landed without getting onspeed AoA in the groove? I'm a massive noob at this sim but don't pendulum like you did on carrier landings.

@@JulesD92 yeah, I thought the idea of a tutorial was to teach others the right way to do something. There was so much stick deflection in the groove, right through to the wires. They really need to teach trim and throttle control to maintain AoA as is done in the real aircraft.

No. Those procedures are known because it is not classified. BFM SEAD and other actual military tactical stuff is only known to real pilots. They take great care not to share it on social media as that stuff is classified.
It's just a game. A procedural sim at best of times. I look at it as airplane RPG.

@@mzaite Haven't seen issues myself, I have done well over 300 traps with the old Johnny Reb and never had a problem and currently at around 30 flights with the Teddy.
